Beautiful cabin, beautiful location. The cabin was equipped with everything one could possibly need. Laura was a great host. We plan to stay here again next season.

Very nice house-spacious, comfortable. The most memorable part of our stay was the absolutely stunning water view off the deck-beautifully serene. Close to Acadia State Park/Bar Harbor. If you're looking for quiet, secluded comfort, this should be your choice. Thanks, Laura

This is a special property-- it is extraordinarily private and peaceful, set at the end of a long driveway off Newburyport Road in Surry, Maine. The deck of the house towers above a private rocky beach (perfect for kayaking) amidst stands of pines and birches. The little touches (good deck furniture, sunshades, a good gas grill, a well-outfitted kitchen) make this a pleasant place to stay if you want to get away from the hub-bub. Since it's on the Surry peninsula, you're about 25-30 minutes from Ellsworth or Blue Hill, so it's not for people who want to go out for every meal. But if you want to hear the seals in the bay, and relax comfortably in nature, then this is an ideal place.

If you are looking for a serene waterfront getaway, away from the crowds, this is definitely the place. Plenty to explore and kayaking with the seals was amazing. Pictures don’t do it justice and Laura was a very attentive and all around great host.

Really enjoyed staying at this rental property. My wife and I enjoyed the quietness and privacy of this location. I would highly recommend this place for anybody looking to take a vacation.

Beautiful home with all the necessities. Our family of four enjoyed stargazing, kayaking with the seals and local lobster rolls from Perry’s (twice). Day trips to Schoodic Peninsula, Gotham & Cadillac mountain hikes and Bar harbor all an easy drive. Our first visit to Maine, hopefully not the last. Thanks for a wonderful week!

Everything about our stay at Laura’s cottage was wonderful. We were greeted by a gentle breeze and the sound of the ocean upon exiting our vehicle. The photos in the listing are a little deceiving as the view from the deck was more beautiful than I was expecting. We spent a lot of time taking in that gorgeous view! The cottage was super clean and tidy - perfect for our family of four. We were very comfortable and felt right at home. We did many things out and about, but our favorite by far, were our kayak trips out to the islands. Really… a little piece of heaven. So breathtaking and restful- an absolutely perfect stay. Thank you so much Laura!

Peace & Serenity
This property is exactly what we were looking for. Quiet solitude with an incredible view. The huge front porch overlooking the bay was amazing. We saw seals, an eagle, and the sound of the loon at dusk was awe-inspiring (not to mention stargazing at night!). The bed was very comfy, and we had all of the comforts of home. Our dog loved playing on the beach and swimming in the water. The hiking opportunities are endless (Blue Hill, Acadia). It was very easy to disconnect here and just enjoy being immersed in nature. We will definitely be back.

Quiet, private, lovely
The house is lovely, spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. The location is private, quiet and beautiful. We enjoyed the seclusion (a welcome change from city life) and relaxing on the huge deck, walking on the beach or the private road, watching the sunset, and hiking nearby trails in Blue Hill and Surry. We took several trips to Acadia for hiking (about an hour drive, give or take?) and made note of many other places (parks, towns, restaurants, trails) we'd like to visit on our next trip.

I definitely recommend this if you want to get away from the hassle and business.

Beautiful Cabin with Elegant Inside
Took a trip with my sister and brother-in-law to see Acadia National Park. The house was within a 30 minute drive and situated in a beautiful area of Surry. Pictures do not do this house justice!!! It is beautiful and you feel as if you are in a German Chalet. The house was immaculate, beds super comfy, everything you need was supplied in the kitchen (except an oyster shucking knife, lol), but we made due ;) Blue Hill is amazing for shopping and I highly recommend dinner at the Arborvine and Brew Pub House for Oysters!!! Would definitely come back and just stay and enjoy water activities the next time as it was so amazingly beautiful and peaceful here!!! Check in and out super easy!! Loved it!!

This is a quiet, beautiful area. The property is better than advertised, with lovely sunset views, a beach area that we had to ourselves and all the comforts you need. We had no issues at all and felt right at home. If you’re looking for a place to rest and recreate, this is it.
Thank you, Laura!

2021 Vacation
Great property, as advertised. We were supposed to visit in 2020, but we all know about 2020 plans. Thankfully we were able to visit this year. The cabin is wonderful, overlooking the bay. We enjoyed listening to the water every evening and watching the sunsets. Secluded location with a long driveway that we walked each day with the dogs. Porcupines, deer, wild turkeys, seals, loons, and a eagle were just some of the wildlife we saw. Laura was great and ensured we had everything we needed, including lobster pots and cooking instructions. Don't hesitate and book a stay on Lois Lane.

I love this home!
This log home is beautiful. It has a very cozy Maine feel and is very private. You will find everything you need for a comfortable stay. Comfy beds, all the kitchen implements you could want, and a deck to spend time outside overlooking the water. The beach is beautiful. We had it to ourselves. The cove is sparsely populated, so it’s very secluded. Our dogs loved playing on the beach. We watched loons in the morning and even a seal one evening. The long private road was a highlight. It winds through the woods where we saw turkeys, deer, and rabbits on our daily walks. Perry’s Lobster is a fun nearby place - and we brought Pugnuts delicious Ice Cream home for a treat. Close enough for a day trip to Acadia, but we found that the Blue Hill Heritage trails were more nice, more convenient and less crowded. I have already recommended this place. It can’t be beat!

Wonderful cabin
We loved kayaking with the seals, lounging on the deck and watching the tide go in and out, running and playing ball with our dogs on the beach. Got lobster (rolls or the lobster himself) almost every night from Perry's.

Private and comfortable
Cute, clean, private, well-stocked cabin tucked away in the woods with great ocean views. Owner was very responsive and attentive to any questions, especially when a minor electrical outage occurred during our stay. Really appreciated the use of kayaks and all the helpful local information. (Perry's lobster shack down the road has amazing blueberry pie! ) Cabin was just under an hour drive to Acadia; overall a really cozy place to stay!

Perfect Getaway
Enjoyed every part of our stay!! Great beach, beautiful deck and view, use of kayaks, seals and stars at night, biked to Perry's and our dog almost had too much fun! Acadia also incredible, under an hour trip.

This was exactly the spot we were looking for. Private yet close to Acadia. The house was well appointed, and we felt right at home. We really appreciated the use of the kayak. Thank you for sharing your house with us.

Beautiful
We had an amazing time. Starfish crabs anemones all right in front of the house. Easy check in. House is in a quiet area where all you hear are loons and seals. Close enough for biking on Acadia carriage roads, and super pet friendly. Use of kayaks and life jackets (even one for the dog) a total plus. We’d come back any time!!

The most relaxing spot to vacation
This house is the perfect location to recharge your batteries and take in all the beauty Maine has to offer. The huge deck was perfect to sit, relax and listen to the water and smell the pine. We had a chance to do some kayaking, watch the seals on Jed island and the loons swimming by. We even saw a bald eagle fly over. This was a great spot to stay and go visit Acadia and Bar Harbor. Laura and Jay were great hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our time.

Wonderful secluded home!
I cannot say enough good things about this place. It’s about an hour drive to Acadia National Park, and the perfect quiet spot to return to after a busy day hiking or biking. The deck and beach are so nice for enjoying the outdoors, and the interior is very welcoming, clean, and well-kept. We loved it!

One of the best rentals I've stayed at!
This was one of the best rentals we have ever had from VRBO. The house was absolutely beautiful! It was clean and had everything we could possibly need! Tons of cookware, dinnerware, toaster, toaster oven. microwave, ice cube trays, etc. etc. Laura also had lots of information for us....local vets, local places to eat or buy groceries, her phone number, her sister's phone number. She also had directions for things which made it easier: labels on light switches, how to turn on TV, internet password, and even though we don't eat lobster...directions on how to cook it! (I know...we should have at least tried lobster...but we didn't...: ( ) She also let us know where to get extra supplies (in the basement) if we needed them.
The house was so clean, very cozy. The beds were extremely comfortable! The showers were nice....hot water and good water flow! Plus we enjoyed a jetted tub!.
The deck was amazing with beautiful views. It was so quiet, peaceful and serene. Just incredible!
Laura was nice enough to offer kayaks, and life jackets. We didn't use them as the water was too cold for our taste, but the offer was wonderful.
It was about a 45 minute drive to Bar Harbor which was not bad. It was a nice drive out there each time we went. There were a lot of fast food restaurants, a couple of grocery stores and a Walmart (with souvenirs! ) within 10 minutes.
We THOROUGHLY enjoyed our stay! We appreciate that she was pet friendly as well...as we take our little doggies everywhere! Laura was super easy to get a hold of too. We communicated several times via text.
Oh....and we enjoyed visits from the wild turkeys!! One time...strutting along the beach. And we usually always saw them on the drive out! lol
Thanks again Laura for an absolutely wonderful, memorable vacation!!

Perfect!
We loved our stay here. The location was very private, yet just a short drive to all the amazing sites coastal Maine has to offer. The house was very clean and comfortable. We loved spending the afternoons on the large deck overlooking the water and listening to the seals. Laura was an excellent host— very easy to reach by texting. We could not have been more pleased with a vacation rental! We hope to visit again next year.

This place is even better than described. We had a wonderful relaxing long weekend with our pup on this beautiful property. The only downside was having to leave. Thank you for everything Laura!

Beautiful home in a wonderful area!
The log cabin is extremely well maintained and has everything you could possibly need for a trip to the "wilderness" of off-season Maine. Secluded and private, it's a great place to enjoy the wonders of nature and get away from it all. We liked walking on the beach, the cozy gas stove in the living room, and the little store down the road. It's also close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. We had a great time exploring Blue Hill, Stonington, Belfast and Ellsworth. Our dog also had a wonderful time and rates this home 5 paws! The owner is very attentive to detail and a pleasure to work with! Can't say enough good things about our time spent in Maine!

Perfect Get-Away!
This cozy & fully stocked home with a gorgeous beach were even better than described! Communication was great. Although our late October stay was a bit chilly, the leaves hung on for us, and it was the perfect place to reconnect with old friends from California. We couldn't have asked for a better rental experience. Most highly recommend!

Everything you could ask for
This cozy log cabin home is a fantastic family spot. Laura takes wonderful care of the place and her guests. Every time I needed something, it seemed to be right there.
With two children, the gently-sloping beach and deck overlooking it make for a very comfortable parenting experience.
The nights are dark and quiet--we clearly saw the Milky Way every night we were there (well, not the two nights it rained). We've stayed near Blue Hill and Brooklin whic are lovely as well, but we often heard the lobster boats early in the morning. Much quieter here.
Kayaking from the beach was fun and easy. There are even seals to see at low tide.
Nice beds, good, clean bathrooms, great laundry, well-stocked kitchen, and comfy beds and pillows all made our stay delightful. We were perfectly happy to stay put at the cabin for a week with only a quick trip to a restaurant here or there and the library in Blue Hill.
This is a place we would love to return to.

Peaceful haven
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Laura was very helpful, and the property had everything we could possibly need. The view from the deck was incredible, and we had the beach all to ourselves. We didn't see another soul, except for a wide array of birds and a porcupine. Private and peaceful, we loved every moment of our stay.

Absolutely beautiful waterfront log home. Made our first trip to Maine perfect!
Spent a week here in early June with my wife and a pair of lifetime friends. Well away from the crowds of Bar Harbor and Acadia but an easy drive to get there for your adventures. You can tell this property is well taken care as everything is just perfect. The water on Morgan Bay is crystal clear as you can see well to the bottom while sitting on the deck. Lots to do and many good places to eat around the area. Check out Martinis in Blue Hill and the Union River Lobster Pot Ellsworth fantastic meals at both. Another great find was over on Deer Isle, Nervous Nellies Jams and Jellies. It is a typical sweet shop but also Home to a local steam punk sculptor who makes art out of any kind of junk. There are acres of his masterpieces to look at. Well worth the trip. And of course if you wanna just relax this is the place. We saw deer, squirrels, seals, wild turkey, eagles, loons, and even several porcupines paid us visits. Thanks again Laura for sharing your piece of heaven with us!
