This home was an excellent place for our annual family vacation. Very clean home with a beautifully landscaped property! And a beach in our backyard! Our group consisted of our adult kids , my grandchildren, aged 4 through 6, and my husband and I.
Michael was an excellent host/ communicator. House was well stocked, top of the line appliances

This was the perfect place for our 10 family members for a 10 day vacation and two anniversary celebrations. The house is spacious, clean, and very well maintained. It was even better than the photos. The grounds are amazing and so relaxing by the water. The owner includes many amenities including kayaks, bikes, life jackets, yard games, fire pit, and more. The hot tub is drained and cleaned before arrival of each customer. This is an absolutely wonderful place for a family with kids. Michael and Jill are great hosts and very responsive if needed.

The listing is very accurate and the house served our needs well. The property is great and even better than the pictures. The only downside was the lack of central AC (AC in the the upper bedrooms was great) for a few days when we had high heat and humidity.

Property was even better than the photos, comfortable for all of our family to enjoy

Our family loved this house! Great space for adults and children. Lots of outdoor space for kids to run around… bikes and kayaks for adults. We ended up cancelling other plans so we could enjoy all the property had to offer!
10.0 / 10.0
This property exceeded our expectations. The beautiful pictures on the listing did not fully capture just how stunning this place is.
The grounds were so great - large lawn area, several patios with seating and dining tables, a fire pit and pristine hot tub, basketball, lawn games, bicycles, kayaks and a canoe, and a rocky beach at low tide. There was something for everyone. Michael even provided wood for the fire pit, which we enjoyed one cold night to roast marshmallows for S’mores.
The house was fabulous!!! With six bedrooms, 2 living areas, 2 kitchens, a loft area with seating and a pool table, there was room for everyone - to relax, play games, watch TV, share meals, etc. The house is beautiful with huge windows and sweeping views of Union River Bay and the Acadia Mountains.
Nice comfortable furniture and beds. Very nice bed linens and towels.
And, this house was immaculate. Exceptionally clean, even under cabinets, in drawers, etc. A great deal of care and attention to detail went in to providing this home as a vacation rental. The kitchens had everything you could possibly need, and the bathrooms were supplied with soaps, shampoo, etc. The host and owner Michael was so helpful and attentive to any little need or question we had. He welcomed us on the first day and checked in on us several days during our stay to be sure all was to our liking.
This was the perfect place for our family Thanksgiving gathering.
Thank you, Michael for making it available for us.

Michael is a great host (including a personal tour of the property when we arrived even though it was late and dark) and we lacked for nothing. The house was immaculate, the beds comfortable, the amenities plentiful. Having a pristine hot tub to use at the end of a long day of hiking was heavenly. We also enjoyed the fire pit (thank you, Michael, for the wood you had ready for us), the bikes, the frisbees and the pool table. The sun rising over the Union River Bay was a special (and unexpected) treat, and my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed beachcombing at low tide.
Although we had every intention of using the large outdoor lobster pot that Michael showed us during our initial tour of the house, The Union River Lobster Pot in Ellsworth became our favorite go to place for evening meals. We also roasted hot dogs and marshmallows in the fire pit which was fun, and Michael’s grill is huge, clean and easy to use.
What a wonderful home base for us to use as we explored the incredible beauty that is Maine! Thank you, Michael, for sharing your home with us.

Michael is a wonderful host. During the in person check in he answered questions on local attractions and favorite eating places. He even left his personal cell if we had any more questions. The view from the house could not be more tranquil. The water was calm for kayaking and paddle boarding. Surry is small community close to all Maine’s attractions. For us it was the perfect combo of quiet relaxation and quick drive to hiking and the convenience of town. We highly recommend this house. You will not be disappointed

Everything you could want for a family vacation!
Private beach for exploring and treasure hunting, lawn space for games, hot tub and star gazing at night, fire pit and smores, plenty of room in the well appointed and comfortable home to enjoy gatherings and game night or cozy up and relax while enjoying the spectacular view!
An easy drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed. We would stay again in a heartbeat!

This property was spectacular! The waterfront view and beach access was such a luxury - our three families with kids ranging from 3 to 11 absolutely loved running out to the water every day and exploring the tide pools, skipping rocks, beach combing for treasures and getting out on the water.
The owner Michael clearly cares deeply about providing the utmost experience with his gorgeous home, along with incredibly (and surprisingly!) high quality amenities both inside and outside the house. Outside perks included kayaks, canoe, paddle board, super clean hot tub, a great grill (also cleaned!), four adult bikes with high quality helmets, lawn games, and a great fire pit (with fresh, dry wood)!
Inside the spacious home, we found high quality kitchen appliances including blenders, hand mixers, a waffle maker… and plenty of great knives, plates, glassware and flatware. We made great use of everything and dined indoors and outdoors all throughout the day. The open ground floor had plenty of hangout space, upstairs had a pool table and downstairs even had workout equipment!
Each family got their own floor, each with two bedrooms and a bathroom, making it really easy to share the entire home.
The gardens were absolutely gorgeous with hummingbirds and butterflies, and the immaculately organized garage inspired us all! Stargazing at night was truly amazing!
This property has raised the bar for all other future rentals. We would love to come back again! Thank you!

The prior reviews speak for themselves. Beautiful, spacious home, extremely functional AND extremely comfortable, and as well stocked with everything you could dream of for a vacation in this area. THe location is a dream with a beautiful beach with great entry into the water and a gigantic yard - just look at the pictures. Michael is a pleasure to interact with and while we had no issues whatsoever he is clearly very available to help with anything as mentioned by many others. A gem.

This home is immaculate! Michael welcomed us with a tour of his beautiful, inclusive property and was always a call away if need be (which we didn't). A true vacation with his attention to detail allowing us to pack lighter and truly relax. Bath towels, beach towels, toiletries, dish soap and dishwasher tabs, bikes, helmets, and life vests. These little touches might seem small, but for us not to have to travel with wet gear at the end of our vacation was appreciated beyond words. Michael genuinely cares about his property and doesn't expect his guests to be treated differently than family! Clean, equipped, gorgeous views, stocked, and something fun for everyone! The grounds provided room for any activity the kids imagined and Michael made sure the grass was perfect for us to enjoy! Highly recommend this home for couples or families.

We rented this home for a week get together with our adult kids and toddler grand kids (9 total). The place was absolutely ideal for us. The private beach and beautiful lawn were great for the kids to play in. The hot tub was pristine and we used it every day. The house was immaculately clean and is the best equipped rental we've ever had.
Our whole family agreed that we should come back next year!

We had a fabulous time staying downeast at Michael’s beautiful property. The air conditioning in the bedrooms was a welcome surprise, but the sea breezes coming off the water were delightful as well. The kayaks and canoe were frequently used, and the house had everything we needed for a fun family vacation. Acadia national park was close and yet far enough that we felt secluded but could also hop over to the busier part of the island pretty easily. If we are ever back in Maine we would absolutely stay here again.

This was the prefect spot for our family and friends to relax and connect. Waking up to the water, running in the grass, and relaxing by the fire at night, made our time at the house enjoyable. About an hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia, which required planning with the kids, but was well worth it.

This may be the best home we’ve stayed in. It is everything you see in the photos plus excellent property management! Michael was available for any questions and the home itself is wonderful. Very spacious and all the amenities needed for a relaxed vacation. You get the peacefulness of the country, the beauty of the water, we had the autumn foliage, and a pleasant, not too far drive to Bangor or Bar Harbor. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a fantastic Maine getaway.!

I see that there are so many glowing reviews already that I will focus on some key details- but overall all of the other reviews are spot on and this place is top notch! It's a 6 bedroom house in Surry Maine on a very large private beach (particularly when the tide goes out). 2 bedrooms on main floor (including Master) 2 bedrooms in basement- which has direct access to outside, and 2 bedrooms on top floor. Each floor has 1 bathroom which is shared. There is a kitchen on the main floor and a 2nd full kitchen on the basement level.
There are several common areas on all floors (see pictures), but good flexibility for meals to either eat in a large group or have separate pods. We traveled with 4 of my kids's friends- so a total of 6 teenagers, and the setup was really perfect.
I could also see the setup being great for 2-3 families spreading out, or a large family gathering. The house is really well equipped with cooking pieces and there is a very large gas grill that utilizes propane from the house. We cooked all of our meals with no problems. Surry is a small town about 25 minutes south of Ellsworth. There are a few nice restaurants/stores in Surry, but it's generally very limited. Ellsworth is a fair size town/suburb where there's lots of stores and that is where I would recommend filling up on groceries on the way to check in. Mike the property owner had great communication and was there when we checked in and to show us around. Highly Recommended!

The house is amazing - beautiful views - inside and out.
Everything offered in the house was top-notch!
We thoroughly enjoyed kayaking and fishing on our own private beach. There are many spaces on the property to enjoy in both sun and shade. The grounds on the property are gorgeous! We were able to enjoy Acadia and Bar Harbor as well as just relaxing on the property. Mike was an exceptional host. I would highly recommend this property and would love to visit again in the future.

Clean, spacious, in an ideal location and stocked with a ton of extras (bikes, kayaks, outdoor games, etc.). Michael, the owner, welcomed us and was very helpful and available if we had any questions. It's about an hour to Acadia, so we were able to spend a few days there and in Bar Harbor, but then retreat to the quiet and rest of this beautiful home. We all agreed that this was the best house we've rented in Maine and we would love to return again. Thank you, Michael!

THE Very Best Home Away From Home!!!
This Rental Property is definitely a Five Star Home. Our Family of 3 Grandchildren, ages 9, 9, and 7; 3 Parental Units and 2 Senior Grandparents had a wonderful overall stay at this amazing home.
Our Property manager, Michael was super informative and helpful and accessible!!!
The kitchen is SO well stocked with any and all equipment you would ever need .
The many beds and six bedrooms were super comfortable. The three Bathrooms, one in each floor, were well stocked with linens, including many beach towels!!
Our family loved the kayaks and the canoe
that were available for our use in the backyard bay water. Our grandkids loved roaming the beach and communing with nature!
Plus the hot tub (especially) and firepit and gas grill were all enjoyed during our stay.
The bay waterscape, with the view of Cadillac Mountain in the distance is SO beautiful.
We ate lots of scrumptious lobster that was easily accessible from a little restaurant right down the road, very near this home.
All in All, we would love to stay at this Newbury Neck Home in Surry again ….
It was Amazing and only a 40 minute drive from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.

Wonderful Place
The owner of the property is super helpful with anything you need from local hikes (Blue Mountain and Schoodiac Mountain), to restaurants (Union River Lobster Pot), or even a local mechanic when our car battery died. The house is beautiful with awesome views and so relaxing just sitting with a drink by the water. We rented from Activity shop (owners were also awesome) and took Kayaks out on the bay every day. The owner also recommended Linda Greenwald Charters (Perfect Storm fame) and we took a Sunset/ Supermoon cruise which was fabulous and only a few minute drive from the house. The house is about 45 minute to an hour from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor which was an easy drive. Absolutely without hesitation would recommend and return to the house. Thank you for a wonderful week with my family

Family Celebration of 70, 50, & 40
It was more than we hoped for! We had teenagers who stayed on the bottom floor with their own kitchen. Room on the main floor for the parents and the younger kids. Everywhere you looked there was a beautiful view. Plenty of space for everyone to be alone or to gather together for family fun!
This home was spotless and well stocked.
Mike was a responsive host Who obviously took great pride in the property and the responsibility of assuring a great vacation. 18-year-old grandson hoped to come back…
What more could one ask for! Wonderful memories. thank you so much

Nothing short of extraordinary!
We had the most amazing week at this wonderful property. Mike (the owner) met us upon check in to show us around and explain all of the many features and amenities. The home is beautiful and was spacious enough for our two families to have our own spaces, yet come together when we wanted to. The home is well supplied and the beds were extremely comfortable. It is in an idyllic location, with a large lawn, water view and private beach area. We enjoyed kayaking around the cove, watching the water as we ate on the outdoor patio and lounging around the fire pit at night after soaking in the hot tub (we saw more stars than any of us had ever seen before!). We loved that the home is far enough away from civilization to feel private and remote, yet anything we needed was only half an hour away in the next town. Mike gave us some great recommendations for places to eat and activities in the area. If you're considering a stay at this home, don't hesitate! You won't regret it. Thank you Mike for sharing your amazing home and helping our family make unforgettable memories.

Shangrila!
We go to Maine every year and this property was fabulous! Beautiful location and grounds. And with Perry’s lobster pound a mile away-we never had to worry about where to eat. Drinking wine and watching the sailboats in front gave all of us a much needed respite. Mike the property manager was the best in explaining the home.

We Loved It!
This was a fantastic place for our family (9 adults and 3 children) to come and relax. The view of the bay and Acadia National Park was stunning. There was plenty of lawn for frisbee, volleyball, or whatever. The owner was fantastic and consistently offered to aide us in anything we lacked. We highly recommend this property.

Even better than expected!
The pictures and reviews don’t do this house justice! To start, it was immaculate and fully stocked - sheets, bath towels, beach towels, TP and paper towels, all kitchen supplies. The garage holds kayaks, a canoe, paddle board, life vests, multiple yard games. The property and views are gorgeous, water warmer than we thought it would be (I suggest wearing water shoes, very rocky!) Michael was always accessible and there to show us around upon check in. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful week on the bay
What a wonderful home located on such a peaceful bay. We enjoyed the gorgeous view from multiple areas of the house. The manicured flower beds attracted many hummingbirds and bumblebees. Our large family enjoyed paddle boarding, kayaks, volleyball, and many indoor board games. The bedrooms and beds were comfy. At night we enjoyed a fire under the star filled skies. Our kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could want to make the stay easy and enjoyable. Host Michael was there to greet us and responded to any needs during our stay. He truly cares about the guests enjoying themselves. Bar harbor was a short 45 minute drive away. We made 1/2 day trips to Ellsworth, Blue Hill, Castine and Stonington. We loved having Perry’s lobster shack so close to the house and made multiple trips for cooked or fresh lobster and seafood. Thank you Michael.

Truly felt like "home away from home" - an amazingly great house and grounds!
We had 8 people (78 year old grandmother, 2 sisters in their 50s, with their husbands and children ages 15 to 23) stay June 29 - July 6 and we were all so incredibly happy in this house. The house itself is even better than the photos. Fully supplied kitchen for any cooking you want to do. The landscaped grounds make it feel as though you are staying in a botanical garden. A beautiful rocky beach offered endless beach combing time for all - looking for rocks, sea glass, crabs, etc. Chaise lounges on the lawn under the shade trees to enjoy the views and lovely cool breezes. Everyone had their own space in the house to be comfortable doing whatever they wanted to do during "down" time. We drove to Acadia National Park twice (Bar Harbor side and Southwest Harbor side) and Bar Harbor once during the week and it was an easy drive. Ate dinner in Ellsworth and at Perry's Lobster Shack but mostly cooked at home because we were all so in love with the house and being there together enjoying the views and the deck. The grill is fantastic! Michael is a terrific property manager - he was there to greet us, he came by to make sure we were happy and answer any questions, and truly cared that we were fully satisfied with our stay. There were two large screen tvs for those rainy days when my husband wanted to binge watch movies (nice that he could be downstairs behind a door so others didn't have to hear the tv), others wanted to just read quietly on the super comfortable chairs and sofas in the main living room and enjoy the beautiful and peaceful views of the water. We enjoyed playing games and cards. My daughter loved the internet connected nordic track treadmill every day! Our teenage girls woke up early to watch the sunrise multiple times during the week. The beds were very comfortable! Close to Blue Hill and Ellsworth for walking around to explore or picking up things at the market. Lovely area. We had extra paddle boards delivered from a local kayak shop and enjoyed time on the water! (wore wet suits because the water was still pretty cold!). Just have never felt so at home someplace that wasn't actually my home - it was hard to leave! We definitely want to come back! It was also so nice that the house was so well supplied with paper products, bath soap and shampoo, trash bags, etc.. so we never had to worry about that. Michael was always available by phone / text with any questions at all. What a great experience! Thank you!

Great vacation spot
This property was great for my extended family.
The house: Two bedrooms on each of three floors meant we had plenty of space to spread out and not feel like we were on top of each other. The living area is large with plenty of seating and great views out over the bay; note that the living room furniture has been updated since the pictures posted here. The kitchen is updated as well and has everything you need for the week. Two sets of washers and dryers were nice to have.
The property: One reason we rented this house was the waterfront location. In early August, the water was warm enough for swimming and much warmer than the ocean nearby given its location on the bay. The kids enjoyed swimming every day. There were three kayaks and a canoe that came with the property, making excursions easy. The deck has great views and the hot tub was a nice addition as the evenings cooled down. The location is quite secluded--you are six miles down Newbury Neck Road. That means it's a 20-25 minute drive to Blue Hill or Ellsworth and a 45 minute drive to Bar Harbor, so just take that into account in terms of activities. But there was still plenty nearby to occupy us for the week and we spent plenty of time at the house since there are so many amenities there.
Overall, a great stay and the owner couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating.

Private, clean, fully stocked vacation rental
We found the house fully equipped with everything we needed, nice bath towels, beach towels, linens all first rate. The property is beautiful and although we hiked often in Acadia National Park, we were quite content staying at the house, enjoying the water, view, fire pit and Jacuzzi. Fully expect to rent again in the future! Thanks Mike!

4 adults and 2 babies stayed comfortably. Could have shared with one more family. Bit of a drive (20+ min) to closest grocery store. Lobster shack on same street was amazing! Easy distance to Bar Harbor, Acadia. Beds very comfortable. Views amazing. Michael very attentive and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Just Perfect
The house is even better than the pictures! The property was breathtaking and the landscaping was just beautiful. The owner (Mike) was there to greet us and was more than accommodating. HIs love and pride in his home is evident in every aspect of the house. This was the fifth year we have rented a vacation home and all of the others pale in comparison. The jacuzzi, kayaks, BBQ and canoe, like everything else were first rate. It was a great week and a beautiful memoryfor our family.

Fantastic!
Very peaceful. Both the home and outside grounds are perfectly maintained. Very large side yard with full shoreline that made for easy access to the bay with wonderful views. We used the provided kayaks and canoe extensively. Loved the basketball hoop and pool table. Perry's Lobster Shack just up the road provides all the lobster and steamers you could ever want.
It's about an hour drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park so plan your day trips accordingly. We did everything from hiking to fishing to whale watching (oh yeah, eating). Ellsworth is about 20 minutes away and has all the necessities with very nice restaurants as well.
Michael will greet you and tell you everything about the house and the area. He asked us to call him about anything we needed which we never had to do. He really wants you to enjoy your stay.

Incredible Vacation Home
If you are considering this place for a relaxing vacation, just go ahead and book this place now. We had an amazing stay here with our extended family. We had never been to Maine, and this was the perfect place for everyone. The kids loved the kayaks, canoe, and basketball hoop. The adults loved the gorgeous property/views and nearby lobster shack. It's about 50 minutes to Acadia National Park, and we went 3 times during the week. The best part was the super-accommodating owner, who truly wants everything to be perfect for your vacation. We have rented many large homes for our family, and this was definitely the most welcoming reception we've had. It was refreshing to have plenty of high-quality kitchen utensils, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. The kitchen was better stocked than any other we've seen, and the owner truly wants you to call with any issues during your stay. Meticulously maintained.

Absolute Paradise!!!!!
From the moment we turned into the driveway we knew we had arrived in paradise!!! Within moments of our arrival the owner Michael arrived to brief us on the workings of the house. He truly is someone who takes great pride in his home and made us feel so welcome and honestly wanted us to use the house and all it had to offer. The grounds are so beautiful and tranquil. The kitchen is fully stocked with every possible appliance from lobster crackers to a nutrabullet machine. The entire house is immaculate, luxurious bedding, towels and furnishings. The view from the large glass windows throughout the house was spectacular. We had four grandchildren with us we are a family of 10 and the children couldn't eat fast enough in the morning so they could be outside searching for sea creatures, sea glass and shells. We rode the canoe, kayaks, our bikes as well as the ones provided by the house. Eating out on the deck was so enjoyable and the quiet and tranquility of this home is memorable. We used the fire pit for s'mores, relaxed in the hot tub and napped occasionally on the lounge chairs. We visited Acadia Park four of our days, hiked, biked, ate lunch at Jordan Pond, carriage ride, Sand Beach, Cadillac Mountain and still wish we had more days there. We also, went out on a boat ride and visited the town of Bar Harbor and took in the lumberjack show. Our last day in Maine we all looked at each other and no one wanted to leave Michael's house. So we spent the day there doing all the things we enjoy to do it was the perfect ending to a most memorable trip. We all felt sad on Saturday morning that we had to leave and we all look forward to returning again. We can't thank Michael enough for sharing this beautiful piece of heaven with us. May I also add that having Perry's Lobster Shack on the same road as the house is an extra bonus.
