The Sandcastle is a completely updated beachfront home that has been owned by a single family for over 40 years, and is now available for renters too! The Sandcastle is located on some of the most prized beachfront property on the entire island, featuring some of the BEST FISHING, SHELLING, AND SUNSET-WATCHING in southwest Florida. Step outside your door and walk ten feet of white sandy beach to the water. This location is so private that you may go an entire day without seeing anyone else on your beach. Enjoy the pristine waters and exceptional fishing, all to yourself!
The house was designed to take full advantage of the beautiful beachfront location. A huge sundeck expands the length of the home, and is ideal for enjoying your morning coffee while watching schools of breaching dolphin, meandering manatees, and osprey diving to catch fish. The beautiful custom kitchen features an open design and is fully equipped, including plenty of dishes and equipment to make and enjoy homemade dinners. The living room features a pull-out queen sofa bed, and a huge flat screen TV with satellite and DVD player. The master bedroom features an unbelievably comfortable king-size bed, full bathroom, flat screen TV, and dresser. The second bedroom has two twin beds, perfect for the kids, with a flat screen TV and dresser. We also have baby items like a Pack n' Play, highchair, and toys. There are two full bathrooms with all-new linens. The decor is playful, modern and cozy, perfect to make you feel at home during your beach vacation. Bicycles, tennis rackets, board games, puzzles, and other essentials are included in your home. If you need something we don't have, a simple call to the property manager will fix that!
Beautiful North Captiva Island (also called Upper Captiva), is one of Florida's best-kept vacation secrets! The island remains COMPLETELY NATURAL, without paved roads, cars, or crowds of tourists. Our island's sandy roads are traveled by bicycle and golf cart, and North Captiva can only be reached by boat or private aircraft. Our property manager will help you arrange transportation (including a water taxi from the mainland), groceries, and how to fully enjoy the island. There are three restaurants and two gift boutiques on island. Kayaks, paddleboards, and watercraft are available for rent, and fishing expeditions can be arranged for full or half day adventures! A golf cart can also be rented for your time on the island through us, but is not included with the rental. The secluded island is not for everyone - only for those who desire a natural getaway with time to relax. Almost half of the island is dedicated to a state nature preserve. Nearly four miles of white sand beaches await you, without the hustle and bustle of many other vacation destinations. We hold a deep respect for natural beauty and wildlife of the island - this is truly one of the few places on the planet where the delicate balance between man and nature has withstood the test of time. From the moment we booked the house for our stay, Michael was extremely communicative and informative with recommendations as first time visitors of North Captiva. He helped us navigate each mode of transportation as well as loading/unloading groceries in what ended up being the pouring rain. Not only was he very professional, he was very personable, assuring our stay was the best it could be. The house and the view were everything we could’ve hoped for and more. We were able to enjoy our honeymoon in this up to date house overlooking the most beautiful, nature-filled waters with the shell-filled beach. Thank you!

This is the second time we have stayed here and we are looking forward to going back in the future. Home is perfect and location is wonderful right on the beach. Views and sea life are amazing. If you want to be on an island, with only golf carts allowed and a beautiful ocean outside your door with amazing views, this is the place! We took our 4 kids for a week long family vacation and we had an amazing time. Michael was amazing to work with. Connected us with airport and water taxi services and picked us up at the dock. Took a guided half-day fishing trip and got some great snapper and trout. Can’t wait to go back!

We had an amazing time here! Michael and his wife met us at the dock and helped bring al our luggage back to the house. We had used the local grocery delivery service (north captiva groceries) recommended by Michael and everything was unpacked in the kitchen when we walked in. The house was perfect, amazing views, very comfortable, clean. Beautiful sunsets from the porch, private beach, manatees, dolphins etc. the kids had an amazing time. We rented a golf cart from Michael and we highly recommend that. The island was awesome to explore and we can’t wait to come back! The house is well equipped with beach chairs, beach toys for the kids, lounge chairs etc. this property will not disappoint!

Beautiful Beachfront
We loved our time at The Sandcastle. We had a beautiful private beachfront where we saw dolphins, stingrays, and swam with manatees daily. The home was well stocked as described. Sandcastle North Captiva
The property is honestly even nicer than the pictures. We stayed ten days and mostly did not leave the house. There was lots of wildlife to watch, beautiful sunsets, peace and tranquility. Will miss the manatee, osprey, dolphin, and the multitude of bird and fish that could be seen from the large elevated porch.

The house is perfectly situated so you have the most majestic views of both the sunrise over the water and the sunset into the water! My kids loved every second and we are already hoping to go back again! Loved it!! Homeowners were great every step of the way! Made it as easy as possible!

Paradise!!
This was my family's first time to North Captiva and we fell in love instantly! The house is picture perfect and the island is stunning! It is very lush with palm trees and flowers everywhere!! Michael was an amazing host and answered all of our questions before and during our trip. He met us at the harbor upon arrival and even told us the history of the house and other aspects of the island.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!! This house is the best on the island! The privacy was perfect! We would maybe see a few people walk by during the day. Other days, we wouldn't see a soul. The house is beautifully decorated and had all the essentials.We are a family of 4 adults and the house was spacious for us all! We saw dolphins and manatees daily from the deck! There are so many amazing birds as well! The house sits so close to the water, when looking out the windows, you felt as if you were in the water! If looking for a secluded, low key, relaxing vacation, this house fits the bill! We are already planning our next trip back to this house!

Great Place
This week could not have been better. Michael is great to work with and the property is perfect. Everything was clean and worked great. The advice Michael gave us on transportation and food worked out perfectly. We fished all week in front of the house and rented a boat from Boats and Fun for a great day on the water. Excellent experience at a great location
The Sandcastle was a fantastic experience on North Captiva Island. Michael was an outstanding property manager who made sure we were well taking care of during our stay. The house was in a perfect spot with a great beach for rest and relaxation. Many properties you stay at require a long walking trip to set up your beach day. Not at this location - it was so convenient and relaxing. All aspects of the home were set up just the right way to make you feel extremely comfortable. We would definitely recommend as long as you don’t book it during our week!

Sandcastle is located on a lovely stretch of beach, with great deck space for viewing sunsets, sunrises, and another island in the distance. Michael was friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. House was equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. Grocery ordering and delivery is worth the money. Looking forward to return visit!

Relaxing vacation in a quiet and beautiful location
The property's location is perfect. We loved to open the two sliding doors in the living room and listen to the ocean whenever we were in the house.
We got to see dolphins and many of the island birds from the deck every day of our stay. While paddle boarding on the second day we saw our hosts Michael and Jessica returning from a successful fishing trip and they offered some of the catch to us. The fish was delicious, and we really appreciated them going the extra mile to deliver two perfectly cleaned fillets to the house and text us recommendations if how to cook them. Overall, the island is beautiful, the people were friendly, and the house what exactly what we wanted, making for an outstanding vacation.

Paradise Found!!!
Our stay at the Sandcastle was perfect in every way. The house had everything we needed and the views were phenomenal. We saw dolphins daily from the deck and the sunsets were stunning! The island has is very unique with lots of wildlife we had never seen plus the slower pace of life was exactly what we were needed. Michael and Jessica were wonderful hosts and we are grateful they shared their piece of paradise with us. If we could give 10 stars for our experience we would. When we come back to North Captiva, we will absolutely be staying at the Sandcastle. Paradise Found!

Terrible Management, Great Property
Our experience with the manager was horrible. His communication and responsiveness was horrible. The grocery service that was going to deliver our groceries tried several times to reach the manager and never got a call back. He wanted to charge us an additional $1000+ for my son joining us, when he was told before booking that he may come. The property is listed as sleeping 6. We would have only had 5, with my son. The price initially was the same for any number of guests up to 6. Why would he try to get more money when it should have been the same price, and he was informed that my son may come?? When we got to the home, after traveling both by plane and boat, he threatened to cancel our reservation if any of our other family members even stepped foot on the property. We had a total of 3 homes rented (all family and mostly adults over 50 years old). There are many, many other homes just as nice or nicer that have very good management and we have had no issues with. We visit North Captiva each year. This home is managed by a private manager, who is related to the owner. It was a terrible experience and a terrible way to start our trip. Being threatened and told he was going to cancel our reservation with us having no other lodging options and the island being full, was terrifying!

Amazing
This was truly a gem. We had never been to the island and weren’t sure what to expect. We will definitely be back regularly. What an awesome place to disconnect from the rest of the world. The views were spectacular. I drank morning coffee on the beach hanging out with the local osprey , herons, dolphins, and manatee …. every morning. I even went for a morning swim one day and it was just so peaceful. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to disconnect and spend some time living the island life.my kids actually cried when we left, because they truly loved every moment.

To make a very long story short. A week before check in my husband had a major emergency surgery landing him in the hospital for 9 days. We were hopeful Michael would honor a refund but he was quick to reiterate the cancellation policy and mentioned the impact Covid has had on the property owners finances. I was very understanding of the predicament and my mistake of not getting travel insurance. They “needed” the money. Mid week I was able to find family members (4 over the age 60) who live an hour away who could enjoy the house because I paid over $$$$. Michael was good with the transition UNTIL 24 hrs before check in. The excuse email now is that the owners don’t feel comfortable without my family on the contract. I called VRBO and they told me it’s very common to switch contracts to others. I had paid for it so it wouldn’t have been a problem. It could have been resolved in one phone call. VRBO tried all day to reach him to resolve but he never contacted them or me. He claimed to have called me but truth is he wrote a email and GHOSTED me (I have screen shots I wish I could post) so unprofessional! Took the money and ran! On top of dealing with my husband I was dealing with a crook..double dip much! Now I fell in love with the house and idea of relaxing there (as I’m sure you have)and I understand that this review has nothing to do with the vacation at all. I wasn’t asking for much (they had my $) I had much more to worry about. They chose to advantage of my family and our situation. My hope is that this story makes you think twice about renting from them. But if you are renting BUYER BEWARE you MUST buy the extra renters insurance they will take advantage of you regardless of EMERGENCIES!

The Perfect Spot
The house was very well stocked with everything we needed. The location is right on the beach and we saw multiple dolphins, manatees, and birds right from our lounge chairs. We were here 11 days and easily could have spent longer. It’s our idea of relaxation!!! Highly recommend!!!

Amazing Spring Break
Our family had a wonderful time at this amazing property! Michael was so helpful and got us all of the information we needed to reserve the boat taxi, and was waiting for us at the dock when we arrived, and helped bring all of our groceries and luggage to the house. The view from the house is incredible, it is right on the beach and the water is beautiful. We loved having the private beach so close. We did use the safe harbor pool, and it was a bonus that it was heated! We had such a fun family trip and would definitely love to visit again!

A relaxing week on a beautiful and remote island
This is our second time staying on North Captiva, and our first time staying at the north end of the island. We are a family of four, and the house fit our needs perfectly. It was clean, charming, quiet, and had glorious views. We saw perfect sunsets from our porch, and sunrises just a few feet from the house. The property manager was friendly and helpful, and the house was well stocked with beach toys, boogie boards, tennis rackets, etc. We enjoyed biking on the island, walking on the beaches (including the nature preserve), but our favorite activity was sitting on the porch and watching the ocean. I don't know if it is always like this, but we saw dolphins every day, so keep your eyes peeled. Just make sure to bring enough groceries, and you should have a wonderful stay.

Perfect two bedroom ON the ocean
We absolutely loved our stay at the Sandcastle. There were plenty of sand toys and appropriate life jackets for our use for our 4 and 7 year old. The access to Safety Harbor Pool was wonderful with the heated pool, especially when it was too chilly to swim in the ocean. The house was very clean and functional. We loved the outdoor shower at the end of the day. Michael, the property manager, answered any questions we had timely. We had no problems with the golf cart that came with the house for our use. The best part of the house is the large deck off the kitchen, living area. It makes the house feel larger and really allows you to enjoy the ocean views during meals. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to reconnect with nature with their friends/ family.

Absolute paradise!
My husband, children and I very much enjoyed our retreat to the Sandcastle. The home is well appointed, clean, and has the most breathtaking views! It was the perfect size for our family of 4 (2 young boys + 2 adults) We enjoyed cooking our meals together & eating out on the lovely large deck overlooking the ocean. Watching the dolphins swim by, taking morning sunrise beach walks, boogie boarding, visiting the manatees on the canal near the airstrip, and of course- searching out those perfect & unique seashells (just some of the awesome activities you will enjoy at this home-- I must say - after checking out some different beaches- the best shelling on the whole island is right in front of this home!) In addition, ospreys, turtles, eagles, and pelicans are abundant in this area and so fun to watch. This property is very quiet, each day we only saw a handful of people walk by on the beach and everyone is very respectful and usually just "passing through" near the water line. If you love nature, sun, swimming & shelling, beach walks and are looking for rest & relaxation - this is the perfect spot. Micheal, the property manager, was so helpful in guiding us on options for transfers to the island, grocery options, accommodation questions & was quick to meet our needs and when a flight delay caused us to miss some connections, he was very flexible in changing our arrival plans for pick up at the dock. We hope to return to North Captiva someday, and this rental is at the top of our list!

Property manager Michael and his wife Erica were very responsive and accommodating. The home was gorgeous with panoramic views of the ocean and a gorgeous sandy beach full of shells. We hope to be back soon with our family.
