About this cottage rental
Grace's Place is a real Maine cottage , with pine floors and a working stone fireplace. Walk down the path to a sand and stone beach, read a book on the covered porch or outside deck with a great view of Harpswell Sound, Bailey's and Orr's Islands and the open ocean beyond, while the kids play in the yard. This is a very quiet location, just right for that get away you have been looking for, with enough room inside and out to avoid that 'cabin fever' feeling.
That said, Grace's Place is close to Brunswick with its music festival and music theater, Bowdoin College and great restaurants; Freeport, with LL Bean; Portland, with the Sea Dogs baseball team and great waterfront shopping and dining.
A deep water mooring is available for your boat.

We had a lovely stay in Grace’s Place. The location was great for exploring the nearby hiking trails and tidal areas and for easily getting into Brunswick for supplies. We especially enjoyed looking out over the bay each day.

Our family loved our stay at this lovely little cottage. Lots to explore in the surrounding areas and the hosts were gracious with our noisy 3 year old.

This was our 4th summer vacation at Grace's Place. That says something in itself. It is a wonderful location with a great view. The house has everything our extended family needed. It is always spotlessly clean when we arrive. We will return next summer for sure.

This was our first time ever being to Maine. We thought the location was great for us to explore Maine. We loved that it was on the ocean and we could walk down to the water when the tide was out. My husband and son fished from the bank and caught Striper. If you are needing bait when you get there go see the nice lady at Johnson's sporting goods in Brunswick. The Ice cream down the street was also really good and a nice treat after exploring all day. The only thing we really had a complaint about was there is no walk of any kind from the parking spot to the porch so in the morning when the grass is wet your shoes get wet and grassy. Other than that our family of 7 really enjoyed our stay.

Last days of summer and we spent most of our time there on the sun porch with view of water and curbstone bridge.
Had everything we needed and plenty of room for a family or group even though we were only two.

This house is near lots of great sites in Maine but the purpose of this trip was to relax. We loved all the different places to spread out - front porch, sun room, deck, living room with a beautiful fireplace, and 4 bedrooms. We watched sunrises from the deck and drive up to Mitchell’s Field and Lookout Point for sunsets, and many trips for ice cream! We had perfect late summer weather but I loved that there were plenty of fans had the weather been warmer. We hope to be back!

Communication with owner was great. They live next door, are easily accessible but give you your space and privacy. Plenty of space for a family or multiple couples. Views out to the otherside of the islands. Easy access to safe swimming cove. Highly recommended.

This was our second stay at Grace's Place. It would have been our third stay but we didn't book early enough in 2021 to beat the post COVID rush.
We love this house. My previous review describes the house, the amenities and how well it is maintained. This time I would like to talk about the location and the surroundings. The house has a beautiful view of the bay, Orr's Island, the Crib Bridge and Bailey's Island. The house is perfect for children. Our 5 and 7 year old grandchildren stayed with us. There is absolutely no traffic near the house. The yard is a vast mowed lawn with a swing. Children can safely run and play outside. There is an ice cream stand within walking distance for after dinner treats. A 5 mile drive brings you to great fried fish stand (Erica's) located on a working harbor, or a town beach with shaded picnic tables, or Stover Cove Beach or a grand stand with weekly concerts, or a large tidal pool that can entertain for hours.
15 minutes driving brings you to Brunswick and all the shopping a small city can offer. A 30 minute drive gets you to Popham Beach. The best family beach in Maine. (plenty of parking and clean bathroom/changing room.
The house was very comfortable for 4 adults and 2 children. We have rented many VRBO homes and this is our favorite by a big margin.
We are already planning our 2023 summer at Grace's Place.

This was our third time staying in this cottage and we absolutely love it, as do our children. Harpswell is marvellous and Grace's is a perfect cottage for a young family with a mix of teens and small kids. It is well appointed, the hosts are delightful and communicative and always make us feel right at home. A highlight is eating breakfast in the back deck and watching the water and the crib stone bridge.
The only downfall is having to leave.

We enjoyed our stay at Grace's place. The cottage is clean and comfortable with a great view from the deck/porch. It's just a short walk down to the water and there are many activities nearby. What's more Pammy's Ice Cream is right down the street. Thank you Mary and Jack!

Simplicity, water views and a step back in time.
So many wonderful spots to sit and enjoy the ocean breezes and the view. The owners are available, responsive and eager to make your stay positive. Grace's cottage is basic no-frills, but in a charming way. We keep coming back for a week of rest, relax and regroup.

Everything we were hoping for and more
We loved our three weeks at Grace’s Place. It’s a charming house in a beautiful location, and Mary and Jack are excellent hosts- hands-off and helpful at the same time. We will definitely try to stay here again!

Quiet, Comfortable, and Private
We loved spending time on the patio and sunporch, with the open front porch as another option for relaxation. The bathroom is spacious; everything is comfortable and homey. The kitchen is not super modern but had everything we needed. Very quiet, private place to get away, yet close enough to lighthouses, Acadia, and all the little towns to do some day trips. Parking space is on a fairly steep hill directly across the drive from the house.

A great stay in Harpswell
The three porches at Grace’s Place is its highlight and the location is terrific. The house is a real gem and the neighbors are very nice. Really the only downfall from our stay was how hard the parking spots were to use with a vehicle larger (mini van). We would stay here again!

Grace's Place Soothes the Soul.
Relaxing, casual and comfortable cottage with a partial view of the water. The cottage offers such versatility in terms of where to nest - the living room-dining room, inside area, the sun room, the back deck and the front porch. One can follow the sun and or the breezes with one's choice. Brunswick is only 18 minutes away. The owners are accessible and helpful and eager to please.

Maine is #1
So happy to return, finally, to this wonderful Harpswell location - great setting for gathering with our family, including 2 y/o granddaugther, after not being together in one place since Dec 2019! Hosts Mary and Jack are great, always accessible - Grace's Place is fun, convenient, comfortable, and a place of grace - we hope we can return soon -

The perfect Maine oasis!
I had an incredible time renting Grace’s place. The home has a great location (walkable to a small beach) and is much more spacious than it seems in the photos. We loved the sun room and the porch, and all the bedrooms were a great size. It was clean, sunny, and beautiful — I wish I had more time there! Communicating with Jack and Mary was easy, and they responded to all our requests very promptly. I would love to return anytime.

Beautiful Harpswell
Grace's Place is a meticulously maintained turn of the century summer ocean house. It has all the amenities we needed, a breath taking view of Stovers Cove, the crib bridge and all the boat traffic from the harbor. It is located about 1000 feet from the water. A grassy, well mowed, path leads you from the driveway to the sea. This is the most relaxing home we have ever rented. Absolutely no traffic or road noise pass near. Four adults, a two and five year old had plenty of space inside and out. There is a deck with grill (no extra charge, very rare) and picnic table. We ate our evening meal there every night and enjoyed the sunset.
We found many things to do within a 15 minute drive. Stovers Point is a beach you can drive onto. It's great for kids with gradual shallow water. Potts Point at low tide is a wonderful place for everyone to explore the tidal pools. Mitchell's Field has another great beach for kids and shaded picnic tables. All three of these places are free. Pammy's ice cream stand is within walking distance. They serve Hill Top brand ice cream, possible the best anywhere.
Jack and Mary, the hosts, were very nice and always available if you wanted them. My family has rent many homes through VRBO and this one was by far the best. We will return again and again.

Great getaway
We had a relaxing, beautiful time at the cottage. It was exactly as described and very charming. Lots of nature preserves within a short drive from there, so we did lots of great hikes and were able to enjoy the water some too.

Vacation in our own backyard
With Covid we couldn’t take our original vacation but this was a great replacement. We used it as a home base to explore Midcoast Maine and throughly enjoyed the location, amenities, and relaxing porches. Even when it rained we sat on the porch and enjoyed the view, put together puzzles, played cards, and spent time together as a family. We definitely stay again.

Wonderful experience in a great location
Harpswell is our favourite place to rent cottages in Maine. Unlike other parts of Maine, it is not overdeveloped yet it is within a reasonable distance from our favourite beach (Popham) and Portland. This cottage is close enough to the ocean to give you that experience while still being affordable (which is a tough find for a family as large as ours). It is a very comfortable relaxing cottage and location that I would strongly reccomend except for in the weeks that we are looking to book it. :)

A little bit of Heaven on earth!
This was the most wonderful place we have stayed in years, for so many reasons. The cottage was pristine. It was sunny and bright and super clean. Everything you need was there, including multiple fans, Linens and Towels-what a convenience! The cottage is large and spacious. In addition to sleeping 7 comfortably, it has great cozy spots to go to enjoy some quiet and solitude (upper deck, screened porch, front porch) all with a beautiful view of the ocean. Great expanse of yard for outdoor games-which our sons loved! We were thrilled when we played Badminton and Cornhole and were able to enjoy a gorgeous view at the same time. Really and truly just the most peaceful and relaxing place we have been in a long time. If you just want to get away and have some nice family time, this is your dream cottage. We felt no strong need to go anywhere-everything we needed was right there for some true rest and relaxation. Owners Jack and Mary have taken great care in every detail-with beautiful flowers, a lovely green lawn, and simple decorations that let the beauty of the home shine. They were friendly, helpful and not at all intrusive. I can't say enough about this wonderful place!! We will be back for sure!

Perfect Maine cottage
The cottage was just what we were looking for. It had everything we needed, including fans for those warm days, which in our experience is not always included in rentals. The town itself is so great if you like beach combing for “treasures”, my three year old couldn’t get enough of it. Many hiking trails and unmatched shore line the town itself is worth the stay.
What makes this cottage special was the attention the owners paid to us ensuring we had what we needed but giving you the space to enjoy your time. They even set up a water table, kids picnic table and sprinkler for us, which was more than generous. We were very happy with our vacation and would say this was a great get away for our family of 4 ( kids 3 and 1)

Lovely Maine cottage
We had a great stay in this lovely Maine cottage, very clean and well-appointed. The kitchen was furnished with a complete and well-chosen array of cooking gear (not always the case), includng lobster pot and tools! We especially enjoyed the sun room in the early morning light, and sitting on the deck looking out onto the bay.

Perfect family vacation cabin
We booked this house on a whim, having never been to Maine. Well, let me say we were not disappointed! Grace's place is a charming cabin on an amazing piece of property. The cabin has all the essentials, the beds and seating were comfortable and it was clean. We have two kids and they had a blast running around the yard, playing with Jack and Marrys grandchildren and exploring the tidal beach down the hill. I would recommend this cabin to all families looking for an affordable and charming place to get away from it all.
Thank you for a great week. We will definitely be coming back

Wonderful vacation place.
Grace’s Place is a wonderful vacation house. A spacious clean space to relax and rest. Bedrooms were great with very comfortable beds. All 3 of us slept soundly each night we were there. Modern kitchen with an outstanding refrigerator that made ice! Bonus. We all had our own spaces in which to relax, read and nap..Sun room with an awesome view gave us a birds eye view of a Cove and the ocean behind it. Back deck was great for sun bathing as well as a covered front porch. Constant breezes were great keeping us cool. We definitely recommend Grace’s Place and will return in the future.

Peaceful, simple charm
This was our 5th visit to Grace's Place so for us, it is a special place where we know we can relax, enjoy the cool breezes and ocean view, take a sail, catch a concert at the local bandstand, enjoy a yoga class, grill on the deck, hike the many area trails and eat good food (not to mention Gelato Fiasco in Brunswick). Sitting with morning coffee on the front porch while the birds harmonize in stereo may be my favorite part of staying there. We have always enjoyed good weather - in July, August and September, but that is just plain luck. The cottage is not fancy and the kitchen simple but sufficient for our needs. The cottage is clean and neat and the sun room porch invites you to sit and read for hours. We don't mind the double bed, but taller folk may wish they were sleeping in a king or queen bed. Reliable WiFi and the Smart TV are bonuses. Having access to a washer and dryer as well as knowing the owners are right up the hill and so willing to accommodate, makes this a rental to recommend.

Great house! Very clean! Gracious hosts! I would definitely be back to this house.
The property was beautiful. The only issue I had was that there is no stable walk way to the house itself for the elderly folks that stayed with us. Also the beach was not accessible for them as it was down a steep access hill.

Lovely House in a Beautiful Spot
We had a wonderful vacation in this house. The house is very comfortable with distant views of the ocean. The house is clean, spacious, and the kitchen is well-equipped. Mary and Jack are really nice people and made us feel at home. We had a wonderful, restful time and we would definately stay here again. Thank you!

Graces Place Cottage
The cottage is very cute and quaint. We stayed for three weeks. Jack and Mary were very nice people. The day we arrived, there was a heat wave. They provided additional fans to make our stay more comfortable. While Jack and Mary were great, the house needs TLC and was not comfortable for us. Our first night, we were invaded by bugs coming in through the sun room windows. Jack was able to tape around the windows but we continued to have bug issues the remainder of our stay, including waking up in the morning to find that we had been bitten by bugs during sleep. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. We went out and bought additional pillows to try and make sleeping bearable. Wifi works ok. There were problems when all three homes were trying to use devices all at once. The kitchen needs help. Two of the stove burners had to be lit with a lighter to make them work. The appliances are old and need to be updated. No blender or toaster. There was a toaster oven but it did not work well. We ventured down to the "beach" only a couple of times. The "rock and sand beach" is mostly rock and wet with a lot of flies. It is tidal, only exposed when the tide goes out. Not a typical sand beach. While Graces Place is a cute and quaint Maine cottage, we did not feel that the value was there with all of the issues we encountered, having paid almost $3,500 for three weeks of dealing with many issues and for a miserable stay. We truly feel that we should have been given a partial refund with everything we had to deal with. The cottage needs to have updated ammenities. It can still be a Maine Cottage with some updated comforts of home to ensure that it is comfortable. It was a lot of money for what we dealt with then and continue to deal with after departure.
