About this house rental
This cedar, custom duplex mountain home has custom features throughout its five levels! Built on the side of a mountain, perched high in the pine trees, this unique home has all of its living spaces on different levels for maximum privacy and solitude. This home can accommodate up to ten people in its 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, plus loft configuration.
The top two levels have a master bedroom and loft. The master bedroom has a king size bed, master bath, and its very own private balcony. The master bath has a great garden tub, where, while you soak and relax, you can take in the splendid Yosemite forest and mountain views. The loft is lots of fun for the kids and has one double bed and one single bed.
The main level is one large room with a high open beam ceiling and has the kitchen, dining area, and living room that opens out to a deck with great views. There is also another deck on the main level by the entrance to the house. The living room has a wood burning stove/fireplace with granite rock surrounding, and Indian motif furniture, TV/DVD Satellite.
The two bottom levels have one bedroom on each level with one queen bed and one full bath and are very private. There is also a media room, with a sofa bed, and a propane fireplace. There is 3 parking spot all year, sometimes 2 over winter months.
We provide you with dishware, cookware, silverware, blankets, pillows, linens and towels. Condiments provided are hot chocolate, Folgers coffee and filters, sugar packets, cream packets, Lipton tea, and salt & pepper. We also provide dishwasher detergent, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and free firewood for units that have wood burning fireplaces. All our properties come equipped with propane BBQ's, and we provide the propane.
Do you have internet access at any of your home properties? Yes but very limited! Only a few of our home properties have recently been able to receive Internet access. Due to our remote location, and the fact that most of our properties are surrounded by tall Yosemite pine and cedar trees, it makes it almost impossible to receive clear satellite signals, cable isn't available yet in our community. The system we currently have is a satellite-based Internet system and is vulnerable to adverse weather conditions, therefore we cannot guarantee Internet connectivity during your stay. nor is the Wifi speed fast enough to ensure reliable video calling and streaming.

The property managers were great! Called (on a house phone!!!) the first night to check on everything. And saved our vacation by helping us find snow chains when I brought the wrong size. Side note: if you're coming in winter, you will need snow chains! Check them at home before you leave! If it snows while you are there, there's a steep hill leaving the property that requires them, and they might be mandatory on the highway.
15-20 min from the main valley and a really nice place to stay while visiting the park.

This property was the second of 2 cabins we booked for our family trip. It was used just to sleep extra people. Didn’t spend too much time in it but can imagine if we did- it would have been quite nice.

We booked the Sports Chalet for a quick first trip to Yosemite. The house was great, lots of room, we were amazed at how big it was. The location was perfect for us, a quick drive into the valley was easy. I was happily surprised by the quality of the appliances and provided kitchen wear. We cooked every meal and found everything we needed. The house was very clean. The beds weren’t super high quality but they weren’t terrible and we all slept well. Anything we needed was easily found. A few considerations, there are a lot of stairs. This was no problem for us (middle aged with children ages 7-12) however I could imagine it would be quite challenging for families with younger children or elderly family members. Also, the bottom room (which we didn’t have to use because there was only 5 of us) was very cold at night and there was no way to heat it. Otherwise, great place, would highly recommend.

This was a very nice place to stay, beautiful property on the side of a mountain in Yosemite West. The only reason I did not give 5 stars (I'd give 4-4.5) was that many of the appliances need to be updated. There was a broken knob on the gas stove, which management said had broken the week prior and was on order. The toaster works, but the settings for light/dark were broken so you have to monitor closely. The dishwasher works, but the handle & front door to open is broken, the bottom shelf wants to fall right out, and the silverware tray has some large holes in it so you have to be careful of placement. The middle floor shower works great, but the knobs are pulling out of the wall. The toilet in the bottom floor was running and needed a new stopper, which management very promptly replaced. Overall it gave the impression of a very nice place that has been kept up with the minimum amount of work to make it rentable--still acceptable and fine, but still contains some annoyances. Would I stay there again? Sure--it was still beautiful, clean, and convenient for our large party of 14 (extended family).

The home was inside Yosemite Park which was wonderful! The drive was beautiful to the home. We loved that it wasn't too far from the places we wanted to visit. The house was big, but it was very cozy and comfortable. They had all the necessities needed. You won't have any cell service and the WIFI isn't strong (they let you know that beforehand), but it was a great way to disconnect and be present with the beauty of Yosemite. Overall, I highly recommend!

Not right for peak summer heat.
This was booked for multigenerational family visit and there was no mention on VRBO of flight of stairs to get to the home. The entire Yosemite West area has no cell reception whatsoever. WiFi was a very throttled service in the house and hence extremely inconvenient to peruse any website to plan activities. The only time we could actually use our phones is by driving into main Yosemite valley area.
The home was extremely hot during the time of our rental when outside temps were in the high 90s. The fans in all rooms were extremely dated and noisy and did not move much air. It was unbearable. Overall this home is not great for peak summer visit. Did not get a good night’s rest since the fans were noisy but the night temps do drop down, the only way to cool down a bit is to keep windows cranked open at night.
The kitchen, although basic like most rentals, did have basic utensils to cook. The drinking water quality was good and refrigerator has working ice and water dispenser.
The towels were clean but old and the bed was ok in terms of comfort. The bathrooms were cleaned well. The bathroom on entry level bedroom could use a privacy blind. It overlooks the balcony from next house and although there are trees, doesn’t feel secure. Overall this is a very old home with dated old carpet and old wood cabin smell.
The home was cleaned to the best of the ability that this home can allow. While it gave us some respite for a place to stay with crazy booking season in Yosemite, this home would not be a repeat choice for us.

Overall a great place to stay
We enjoyed our stay at Sport Chalet, and the property management was easy to access and get help from. We had a bit of hard time adjusting the temperature uniformly in this house specially in the corner room on the lowest floor which only had an electric heater. The other shortcoming that we noticed was lack of any sort of board or card games, low quality audio and video system in the main floor, and limited supply of items such as paper towel, shampoo, soap etc.
Overall this is a nice place in the middle of Yosemite but doesn't offer any additional entertainment if you wish to stay inside for a portion of your trip.

Nine of us staying from all different areas of CA, excellent house for a large group. We were able to get four cars parked without a problem. When we arrived the lower bedroom smoke alarm was chirping, they had a new battery installed within two hours. Would stay again.

A couple of items:1. There is no washer/dryer. This would be good to have known.2. Although it was HOT in the valley, this place is at 6,00 ft. so it is a good 10 degrees cooler. And the place had plenty of fans. We brought a couple of fans with us, which were not needed.

Great location and lots of space
We had a great time at the property! I would stay again! Only a few minor things: the dishwasher was broken, the remotes to the tvs were not working well, and there was a hole in the closet door. Overall: beautiful views and comfortable stay. We had a great friend reunion in a beautiful location. Thank you!

Very nice and spacious house!
The house looks great but could use some upgrades. The screens and a couple of back doors don’t lock. We enjoyed our stay, it’s a little tricky to get to the house because the road signs are small and can easily miss the turn and then hard to go back because of one way streets. Beautiful place!

Convenient
Great location and the kitchen is equipped for our short stay. The Folgers ground coffee / hot chocolate was a nice surprise. It was hot during the night since we are used to air conditioning but this is minor. Each room has a fan. We would stay here again.

The property was exactly as advertised. Beautiful location, very clean and 15-20 minutes from the Valley. We were able to do several days of hiking and return for a great dinner at the sport chalet!!!

Great house and location
The property is great. It could use a little updating here and there. There were only 5 chairs in the dining room. We had to bring one up from downstairs. Also the chairs that were there need a little maintenance or to be replaced. Not enough trash cans! The tv downstairs in the media room wasn't hooked up at all. We had to crawl around behind the unit to get it hooked up to watch a movie. Other than that, it was a great stay and we have no other complaints.

Beautiful spacious home
Our extended family of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your home. The common areas are very comfortable for a large group, and the home is so spread out that there is a lot of privacy. The kitchen is very well-equipped as well. Great place!

Great for a family get together!
Our extended family of 9 had a great stay. We were able to spend the days exploring Yosemite and the evenings playing games together. Enough space for everyone!

Wonderful Escape in Yosemite!
We stayed here two nights while we hiked half dome! It was great! The cabin sleeps so many people and everyone had their own room. The wifi is a nice added bonus. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Overall experience was fantastic and just what we were looking for.
House location couldn’t be beat. The house itself and spaciousness was perfect. The bedding, pillows and linens were better than at other houses we’ve rented, usually they are sad & dilapidated which is why we brought our own pillows. Happy to say that we didn’t need to.

1st time in Yosemite. This House Made it Perfect.
2 Families, total of 9 people.
5 adults
4 children.
Room for more!
Loved it!
Staying in the park IS A MUST!!!! Unless you don't mind driving an hour+ to and from Yosemite Valley.
This was our family's first time in in the park and this home made it a very enjoyable experience. House was stocked with pots and pans, dishes, TP, dishwashing liquid and towels.
The house is huge and had 5 levels (some are just rooms, like the loft). There is a living room downstairs with a separate bedroom and bathroom. It's felt like 2 houses in one.
Only thing to note is there is no AC. We went July 30-August 2nd. Don't get me wrong, the house wasn't extremely hot but only had fans and a lot of windows to cool it down.

Plenty of privacy for three couples but no heat in BR3.
We had three couples (and a 2 year old) staying over Thanksgiving week. The home is well designed to provide privacy as each bedroom and bath is on a separate level. Note however that the lowest bed/bath had no dedicated heat source and relies on heat from the adjoining media room. The couple down there ended up sleeping on the floor of the media room. All else was as described. The home was clean and everything worked. We wre able to get some wifi there, although cell phone connections very spotty. Need to wait until you get into the village or try at the Tunnel View. The home is a 20 minute drive from the Valley and the drive includes a lot of winding roads that can get icy in wet weather. One other note - I sent a couple of emails to the "owner" (management company?) trying to get additional info and got no replies. Calling the management company provided better results. All in all a nice home for our family.
