About this cottage rental

This is a unique opportunity to experience an Inverness cottage of your own. It is located on six acres stretching along the beginning of Tomales Bay. Enjoy gardens, flowers, orchard, marshes and year-round creek. There is an abundant variety of birds and wildlife.

Tomales Bay is at your back door, providing endless vistas of beauty and interest. Enjoy the ever-changing flow of water and quality of light. As the tide rises, take in the reflection of sky and rolling hills from the opposite shore, or the full moon rising over Black Mountain. The views are expansive.

As the tide recedes, watch for the variety of birds foraging for food along the shore, or footprints of deer as they move through the area. You may enjoy the view from the living room, outdoor deck, or sitting at the edge of the bay.

The cottage is approximately 3 miles from the Point Reyes National Seashore visitor Center, and just 2 miles from the town of Inverness.

We stayed three nights to visit Point Reyes. The cabin met all our needs. It was comfortable and cozy and had a well-equipped kitchen. The property was beautiful, with stunning views of the marsh and birds. We want to return again.

We had never been to California. Wanted to see the state outside of the city and we loved it! The area is very remote but beautiful. The cottage was perfect for a weekend getaway. Super authentic feel with owners touches all over. Beautiful garden!

Overall place was amazing, very comfortable. Only thing a little sketchy was driving out of the driveway, could use a couple mirrors so you can see what's coming a little better. 100% would stay again

This beautiful cottage was our home for two (too short) days. Had the weather not been great, we would've been happy to hunker down in this very well-equipped, tastefully furnished and thoughtfully decorated abode. We lucked out weather-wise, though, so in between visits to our favorite spots along the coast and bay, we reveled in the glorious natural surroundings of this perfectly situated cottage.

We spent 2 nights at the spacious cottage in an absolutely beautiful location. The communication with Louise before and during our stay was great. The cottage is comfortable and well-stocked. The bed was comfy. The garden was lovely and the views were amazing. While it was rainy while we were there, we still enjoyed watching the birds and deer as we sat by the fire. Our dog had a great time too. One tip for renters - there's a sky light and some high windows without shades in the bedroom so if you need a dark bedroom to sleep in, you'll want to bring an eye mask. :-) We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely return.

We love the cottage. Easy to get to but feels remote. Great view and the cottage has everything you need to relax and enjoy a peaceful getaway. We have stayed twice now and can’t wait for our next visit.

The cottage was perfect for the two of us, both big Point Reyes fans. Very comfortable inside, with soothing views of the bay wetlands from the dining table and the couches. As we are early risers, we particularly enjoyed the wooden walkway that leads out to the wetlands' edge, which offered a sweeping vista for sunrise watching each morning, and then checking on the wetland bird action throughout the day. We definitely would rent again!

We needed a quiet getaway close to some simple amenities and this cottage fit the bill! We enjoyed having just the right amount of space to be in. Great feeling both inside and out. Would definitely stay here again!

The cottage was conveniently located to all our destinations. It is completely outfitted so we could move in and relax. The kitchenwas well equipped and easy to use. The view of the marshlands from the windows was spectacular! We are very satisfied!

The perfect place for the quiet beauty of nature. Deer in the yard, birds soaring overhead, and fog drifting in. The cabin is very comfortable and does not seem small, partly because there are so many windows with beautiful views. Louise is so responsive. Great location, as well. We hope to come back.

Louise’s well appointed home was the perfect spot on Tonales Bay to be in nature, to care for ourselves and to access all that the Point Reyes area has to offer. It has become a our gold standard for vacation rentals..

My wife were on our way to the Monterey Jazz festival and found this wonderful one bedroom cottage before braving the Golden Gate Bridge. It is close to the Port Reyes National Shoreline Area. Nice views, Elephant Seals, Sea Lions, but no elk this trip. Thank you for Sharing your home.

This was a great place to get away from the city for the weekend. A short drive from SF/Oakland. The big yard and closeness to the bay was great for bird watching and relaxing. There is a lot to explore in the area but we spent most of our time at the cottage. The cottage was lovely and with a nice kitchen. We cooked most of our meals there. We hope to return!

I loved Louise's cottage! It was spotlessly clean, the bed was super comfortable,and the house itself was bigger than I expected. The view was stunningly beautiful. I especially enjoyed watching and listening to the birds and watching the marsh rabbits that appeared early in the morning. The house also had a lovely, old fashioned cottage garden. It was just a short drive to the national seashore. I was especially pleased that the area around the cottage was not overdeveloped. The area does have a few stores and restaurants but has retained its charm and was not overrun with tourists. I'll be back.

Beautiful place. Fully equipped kitchen for bountiful vegetarian meals. Purchased supplies in pt Reyes supermarket. Went for inspiring hikes in the hills. Slept under the quiet summer sky.

I love staying in VRBOs that are cozy homes, full of a person's energy and interests. To be immersed in ecology, beautiful gardens, wild nature and literature, with art and books and personal objects making it feel like my home. There is no better way to be grounded in a new place and to learn about your surroundings. I've stayed here before, and I will do so again. This is an absolutely glorious spot - the house perfectly sited on Tomales Bay, and the spacious gardens and grounds are filled with wildlife… Birds, deer, rabbits - The view to the mountains on the other side of the bay is absolutely spectacular. The house is comfortable, warm, personal, and well appointed. We lacked for nothing. We absolutely loved our stay, and would come back in a minute. Louise is terrific. Smart, funny and kind. A wonderful place and owner. Cheers!
