The Home:
Inspired by the surrounding environment and historic agricultural landscape, the coastal home was designed and built in 1977 and renovated in 2007 by renowned local architect Jon Fernandez (the architect of the iconic Point Reyes Cowgirl Creamery/Tomales Bay Foods building).
The redwood siding and sharp-angled walls architecturally create an abstract impression of an agricultural barn. The rustic yet modern design continues past the front door. Inside, airy simplicity is combined with warm redwood finishes and picture windows to enhance your indoor-outdoor living experience.
Since you might spend some of your time engaging with the great outdoors, once you enter the home you will find a space to store your coats, backpacks, and gear that you use to explore the surrounding park and beaches.
Are you or someone in your group a cook? You will find a fully equipped gourmet kitchen that is functional and modern. There are ample wine, champagne and water glasses and you’ll eat from artistic vintage earthenware. There are two Thermador ovens, a gas range and dishwasher. Custom cherry-wood cabinetry provides a warm and luxurious feel, while the black granite countertops and island reflect the granite outcrop on which the home is perched. The raised wood table in the breakfast nook is an ideal spot for morning coffee with a long and reflective view up Tomales bay toward hog island.
The dining room sits between the kitchen and great room, surrounded by custom shelving that house original owner-created ceramic bowls and platters from which to serve your meals.
The long sofa and day-bed inside a picture window in the great room invites guests to curl up with a book and take in the spellbinding bay, agricultural and parkland views. There is ample seating to gaze at the landscape and bird watch through rows of expansive windows.
Indoors, you will be extremely comfortable.
The bedrooms are clean and comfortable, with views of the bay’s blue water and surrounding green mountains from every bed. Providing for maximum privacy, each bedroom, bathroom and balcony are on separate levels of the home. And both Master bedrooms have bathrooms with a soaking tub and shower. The downstairs bathroom includes a soaking tub with glassed walled views of the bay and surrounding landscape. Coastal birds will soar by as you settle into the warmth of the shower and bath.
The downstairs master bedroom has a sitting area to enjoy a book or to work in privacy. The upstairs master bedroom is clean and sparse with a comfy, pillowed bed and two end-tables. The third bedroom room has the added dramatic yet warm feeling from an angled floor to ceiling redwood lined wall. Magnificent views of the bay and coastal hills are artistically framed through the windows. This main-floor room has access to a modern bathroom with a marbled walk-in shower. This room doubles as a cozy entertainment room with a flat screen TV on a pivotal arm and a closet filled with board games.
On every level, the home opens onto outdoor decks and large balconies. Metal fencing on the kitchen and master bedroom balconies extends the modern feel, while allowing maximum light, safety, and extended views.
The outdoor garden, landscaped with native plants, leads to trails under aromatic bay and towering pine forests throughout the property. A large blue-stone patio with Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, hammock, and BBQ is nestled into a natural small amphitheater-like setting overlooking the historic town of Inverness, the blue water of Tomales bay, and natural landscapes. A scenic perch, enveloped in nature, designed to enhance connections with self, others and nature.
A thoroughly comfortable and scenic escape in nature. A place to relax and refresh all of your senses.

A gathering of East Coast parents and West Coast young adult children for the holiday was everything we could have asked for. The home is inviting and comfortable, and outfitted with a kitchen to make a Thanksgiving meal! We thoroughly enjoyed hikes / walks in Point Reyes, local fare, outings, and the beauty of our surroundings. The views from the house are spectacular! We highly recommend this home for a family gathering and peaceful stay. Thank you Rachel and Jesse for sharing!

This house is an absolute fantastic get away for those wanting to explore Pt. Reyes and the Tomales Bay area. The homeowner is incredibly responsive, helpful and knowledgeable about the region. Lots of fun activities and areas to explore, especially if you enjoy hiking, the ocean and good food!
The house is incredibly well appointed. Clean and has all the modern conveniences. The kitchen is a "cook's" kitchen - the home is beatifully decorated, inviting and comfortable.
I would rent it again and give it FIVE stars. Enjoy your stay.

Beautiful home, beautiful view
The Pros: We enjoyed our stay in this home. The house is beautiful, there are spectacular views, the kitchen is very well stocked, the living room has plenty of room for hanging out together. I especially loved the window seat. There is a big dining room table that was great for having meals together and playing games. The yard is fantastic- beautiful plantings, mature trees, lots of out door areas for relaxing.
The Cons: We were a little surprised to find no window coverings in 2 of the three sleeping areas which means you're up with the sun if you don't have an eye shade. One of the listed bedrooms is a pull out couch, not a standard bed. There is a loft bedroom that has no door and is open to the main room, making it difficult to sleep there if things are happening in the main area.
Neutral, but worth noting: The master bathroom shower (visible in photos of the house) really is all windows- which is beautiful- but you're on full display to anyone who might be in the yard or even sitting in the window seat of the main floor.
The listing mentions walking into town- You would need to be in pretty good shape for that. The distance is short but the elevation gain is substantial! You don't get those views without being high up. The road leading to the house is about as steep and windy as I have ever driven. Getting out of the driveway in a minivan was a learning curve.

Incredible retreat
Pictures do not do justice to how incredible the home and scenic views are. Our family enjoyed the retreat from the chef kitchen, incredible views inside and out and uber clean and peaceful setting. In addition, Rachel was very welcoming and responsive to any questions we had throughout the trip. Not only did she answer questions but provided us with a slew of fun ideas around the Inverness area, we couldn't be more thrilled. Not only was Rachel warm and helpful, she even went out of her way to bring an air purifier to the home in the event there would have been smoke from the fires. Our family would definitely re-visit this incredible house! Thank you Rachel!

Well appointed home
Property location was very private with wonderful, with ever changing views from each window. Our family enjoyed the original art and pottery throughout. We were disappointed that there was not adequate lighting after sunset to enjoy reading, games or puzzles in the living area as others stated, which should be an easy fix. However, it was the most restrictive vacation rental property we've ever stayed in. Our time spent inside the home was not relaxing but instead permeated by the long list of do's and don'ts and the threat of extra charges, including the missing 2nd key which took us hours to find. One got the impression that the owners were not truly comfortable with strangers in their home but instead renting as a way for them to help defray the mortgage costs. The listing states that the property sleeps 6. We noticed after the rental was confirmed and paid for that under the owners fee breakdown we were charged for additional guests. Upon questioning the charge we were told that the nightly rate was based on just 4 people. We couldn't find reference to that anywhere. That should be clearly stated up front. We chose the property because we were a party of six and the house sleeps six. We would have chosen another property rather than knowingly paid the extra guest charge.

Great space, clean and comfortable with a well-equiped kitchen. The teenagers would have liked some shades in the bedrooms as the sun woke them up early, but otherwise a perfect weekend away.

Beautiful and Relaxing, but You Need a Car!
We loved our stay at this home - it's absolutely stunning and the views are even more magical when experienced in person. Rachel was a wonderful host and was very responsive and helpful when we had questions or needed tips on the area. The beds were very comfortable, and the fluffy bedding made for a cozy night's sleep and mornings spent in bed watching the sun rise over the bay. Just gorgeous! There is ample outdoor space for lounging, but be warned, it is fairly cold so be prepared to wear layers. Note that hot water is limited so taking a bath was not possible during our stay.
Word of caution - it is a fairly remote area with extremely limited phone service, and as New Yorkers, we did not realize there was no taxi, no Uber, no food delivery, literally nothing. This was also not communicated ahead of time. Luckily, we booked a chauffeur car service for part of our stay, but our drivers had trouble finding us and getting around the area. One evening we were stranded in Inverness and had to ask the wait staff at the restaurant for a lift home, which was not so fun. I would plan ahead and definitely make sure you have a car and a designated driver. It definitely changed the trip for us, having to constantly plan logistics around driving, and made it more stressful. If you stay here, it's best to have minimal plans or stay local and close to the house to avoid the challenges of getting around.

Total tranquility in Inverness
We recently stayed at this house in Inverness and had an amazing experience, truly one of the best VRBO rentals we've ever stayed in. The pictures in the listing, while beautiful, don't do it justice. The house itself is beautiful. There are sweeping views of Tomales Bay from almost every room and every patio (of which there are multiple!). Every window in the house frames a unique view of the outside landscape, almost as if they were artwork and not windows. We had deer munching away just outside, regarding us through the windows, almost all day every day. And the setting is serene and ever-changing, with the sun, clouds, and birds and other wildlife constantly changing throughout the day.
And it's very clear that you are staying in a "home", not a vacation rental. There is beautiful and calming art throughout the house, an amazing and diverse collection of books in the downstairs bedroom, and a kitchen that is equipped to make even the most discerning chef happy.
We were incredibly sad to leave, and will be back soon. We highly recommend this gem!

Amazing views and stay!
Great spot in Inverness, every detail seen to. Rachel was very prompt and helpful with all communication. Well stocked kitchen and beautiful linens as mentioned. Comfortable beds. Really enjoying sitting in the living room taking in the view, sunrises and sunsets. The deer and birds right outside the window! Only regret is we were so busy with family and friends we didn’t get enough time at the house. Truly relaxing special place!

Beautiful Contemporary Home Perched Above Tomales Bay
This home boasts serene views of Tomales Bay highlighted in floor to ceiling windows throughout the house. It is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed and we were able to enjoy serving fine meals in the dining room. Of course, the Point Reyes National Seashore offers endless hiking which we took advantage of every day. Lighting in the living room was limited so reading there at night is an issue. The downstairs bedroom is really a suite unto itself with a lovely bathroom with tub overlooking the bay. The upstairs bedroom is a loft which makes for less privacy although it is comfortable and bright. There are decks on all levels which in warm weather would provide a lovely spot to sit or enjoy a drink. We hated to leave after a peaceful week surrounded by beauty.
