The experience at Pond Memories was a delightful mix of an airbnb and a private B&B. The guest suite (separated by a heavy curtain) in a corner of a private home features a luxury bedroom, a small sitting room fitted also with some basic dishes and glasses along with a kettle and a freezer/refrigerator, and a spacious bathroom with plentiful hot water and white fluffy towels. In addition, one has access to a lovely patio and garden as well as a large clean and tranquil pond. We did not expect the provision of a little cheese tray and fresh cookies upon arrival, nor the small bowls of yogurt and granola in the morning - so this was a pleasant surprise.
The hospitality shown by the hosts was exceptional and each went above and beyond to be helpful and cater for anything we wished ( customized coffee in the morning, borrowing their BBQ grill one evening, and even supplying some much needed sunscreen. In addition they gave excellent suggestions of less traveled destination gems which we very much enjoyed. It was delightful to return each evening to relax in the garden listening for nature's sounds.
There is nothing that we did not like.
At first we were afraid this accommodation might be too far off the beaten track for our intended exploration of the Acadia region; but this is NOT the case. It is a very pleasant drive, easy to find, and nearby Ellsworth offers adequate shopping as well as a pretty historical downtown.

Leslie and George are amazing hosts. More like a bed and breakfast with homemade snacks and beverages. Lovely home. Comfortable bed and several outdoor places to sit and relax.

Leslie and George thought of every detail that made us feel well cared for. Especially nice was all the food that they provided- from a charcuterie board in the refrigerator when we arrived, to homemade bread and baked goods, fresh fruit, even 2 local beers! They offered to cook a hot breakfast in the morning but we were off to Acadia, a short drive away. Their National Park theme makes it seem like a small museum. Although paddling was offered, we did not have time to enjoy the pond, except to see the beautiful sunset there. We also appreciated that they were environmentally friendly..no single use plastic!
We are new to using a shared space but Leslie and George made us feel comfortable. They were friendly and chatted when we wanted to but they disappeared and were quiet when we were in our section that included a sitting room. It felt very private.

Staying with Lesley and George was the most amazing experience! We were looking for a stop-over off the beaten track for one night on a longer trip with access to some outdoor activities. The house is located in the middle of nature, on a beautiful lake. We had a beautiful room full of memorabilia from nature parks that felt like home plus a nice small sitting room and great bathroom, equipped with everything you need, and separated from the host's living area with a thick curtain so we had our complete privacy. Lesley and George greeted us like friends, and even provided a supper platter for us as we arrived late -- some of the best things we've had in the US so far. Bread and cookies were homemade, and the blueberries (incredible taste) were collected from the woods. For coffee junkies, there is a Keurig, but Lesley offered even more types of coffee makers. In the morning we could use their kayaks for a trip on the lake, which was a most special treat for us. We highly recommend staying in this wonderful, warm family home for a special nature experience.
