About this cabin rental
*****Note*** September 2023***** Last spring we replaced the woodstove with a brand new unit. We recently replaced all of the beds with brand new frames, mattresses and box springs. We also upgraded the kitchen and now have a complete set of GreenPan Cookware. In case you've never heard of it, it's great stuff! We also have recently refinished the floor and upgraded the heating system, which probably doesn't matter to you, but we are excited about it. :)
Enjoy the Adirondack lifestyle in this brand new, secluded log cabin. Located at the end of a 150 foot driveway on a quiet road in “Ausable Acres”, the Cayuga Cabin provides a quiet getaway but is close to all the High Peaks attractions. If a half a dozen cars go by, thats a busy day. Pets are welcome.
The Cayuga Cabin comes completely furnished for any length stay - full kitchen with great cookware, dishwasher and clothes washer/dryer, gas grill and even a whirlpool tub, located in the main bath, are on the premises. Two TV’s with cable make the Cayuga Cabin very family friendly. There are two bedrooms on the main floor, one with a queen, the other a double. There are two singles in the loft. Second full bath is in the basement.
The Cayuga Cabin is a 5 minute walk to fishing access in the renowned West Branch of the Ausable River and 20 minutes to Whiteface Mountain, Santa’s Workshop and High Falls Gorge. The Olympic Village of Lake Placid is less than 25 minutes as is Ausable Chasm – the nation’s oldest natural attraction. Montreal, Quebec and Burlington, Vermont are easy day trips. The finest hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing and cross-country skiing in the High Peaks are all at your fingertips. When you come home from a day of Adirondack adventure relax on the spacious deck or in the whirlpool tub.
Within the Ausable Acres development you have access to several hiking and cross-country skiing trails, tennis courts and the Lake Eaton Picnic & Playground area. For the golfer there are 6 courses ranging from 30 to 60 minutes away.
10 minutes away is the “Jay swimming hole” on the East Branch of the Ausable River which was listed in Sports Illustrated as on of the top 10 swimming holes in the US. This is also the site of the Jay Covered Bridge, recently refurbished and a beautiful place to spend an afternoon.

If you are looking for quiet and peaceful this is the place. Secluded and very relaxing area with more deer than people around. The cabin is spacious and clean, with basically everything you need. All appliances worked well. The fireplace is large and generously stocked with firewood. Full size bathroom with an extra bathroom in the basement that came in handy a few times. The beds were comfortable, and the ceiling fans in each bedroom was nice for air circulation at night. AC in the loft also helped when needed. The owners were extremely easy to work with and super friendly. Would be happy to return again.

We took our first vacation as a family of 3. The location was perfect for all of the places we wanted to go. We went to the silver lake bog and bluff, spent a day in Keene at the mountaineer, the Keene farmers market and playing in the Ausable River. Over all great house we will recommend all of our friends check it out!

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The location was great, quiet and secluded yet close to great hiking trails. The beds were really comfortable and it was plenty of space for our family of 6. We really liked having the extra bathroom. We also loved the fire pit and the deck.

Great place to stay while visiting Lake placid. Enjoyed our stay. Would stay again!

The cabin location and space are so nice! The neighborhood is quiet and we felt very secluded most of the time. We used the firepit most nights when it wasn't raining, and the covered porch when it was. The space and wifi worked well for the trip (we worked remotely for part of the week). I do think some of the outdoor furniture needs some upgrading - those plastic Adirondack chairs are awful after a while. Overall, we were excited to book again for next year and start an annual tradition, but the price increase for next year shut down that idea pretty quickly...

My finance and I, as well as our two closest friends stays at Rick’s property from a Friday to a Sunday. Firewood was completely stocked, the kitchen had all of the essentials and the cabin exceeded our expectations. We had a fantastic weekend and were very thankful to have Rick’s spot as our base camp.

Location and size of cabin was good for our family of four. We enjoyed using it for a homebase to local hiking and fishing on Lake Champlain. Cabin had all amenities and was well stocked. The extra bathroom in the basement was nice. However, the furniture in the living area did not comfortably accommodate the four of us. Unfortunately, we also did not find it to be very clean, but was able to find and use cleaning appliances and products to make it more comfortable.

My brother, myself, and 3 long-time friends have been fishing the Ausable for 40 years, usually in tents. About 4 years ago we decided no more camping. We found the Cayuga cabin and have booked it ever since. Rick and Sue are great hosts. We love the fire pit, and covered deck.

We were in the ADK for a Whiteface event and stayed here, it was incredible. It was exactly what we wanted, a remote feel, yet within 10m from town. Everything was clean and working. Just perfect for a stay with kids.

This property is just what my family needed to get away for the weekend. It is located in a secluded area with beautiful mother nature surrounding you. Great memories for my entire family- campfires, smores, tons of natures critters. Great time to reset and decompress from all the stressors in life 💗

The number one thing I loved about this property was the absolute quiet of the area. If you want to get away from it all - sit by the fire, read and just enjoy nature in quiet this cabin is for you. Close enough to shops and attractions - you get a nice balance of solitude and things to do. Easy check in/out process. Will come back!

The cabin was clean and had all the amenities needed, plus was in a great location for hiking some high peaks. Rick was also always available to answer any questions we had. One note is there is no cell service at the cabin but as long as your phone has WiFi calling you are good to go

This was the perfect quiet slice of heaven to watch the total eclipse. The owner Rick was helpful and amenable. It was just the right place for us, tucked away from the crowds, but close enough to the surrounding towns.

and it snowed the whole time :) Which is OK with me! I was headed to Lake Placid for the weekend, but planned late so I had to stay further away than I would normally choose to do. It all turned out for the best. The cabin was both nicer, and bigger, than the pictures convey, and the property/neighborhood are nice and forested/private. The drive into Lake Placid was easy, despite the snow. A nice place to which I would gladly return.

Close to Whiteface and all things the area has to offer. Teenagers had a great time hanging out in the yard. Owners were great to deal with.

Overall it was reasonably priced. Great location and an easy drive to all the touristy things to do in the area. In one location on VRBO it read “hot tub” but in other locations it read jetted tub. It’s a jetted bath tub, normal size for a tub. Second bathroom is in basement and the same room as utility/laundry room. The shower in the basement is very small. For short people like me, not an issue, but for my husband it was a bit difficult.
We realize it’s a cabin that may not always get rented out. However we did have to rewash all the pots/pans and the stove (did a heavy cleaning in bottom stove drawer and around burners for caked on debris and rodent droppings), as well as the inside of all of the bedroom drawers due to rodent droppings. Mice had also made a bed in a box of Kleenexes in one of the rooms. Again, with cabins we understood mice would get in from time to time, so that wasn’t an issue. It was more so that in the stove drawer for example, there was A LOT.
Overall it’s a super cute cabin, tucked away and a great get a way.

Great place to stay as always. Remote and the dogs had a great time outside. New heating system worked great. The wood stove really heated the cabin also. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your cabin.

Amazing stay in the ADK!!! It was such a great stay in a beautiful cabin! Easy access to some private hiking trails too!

A great place in a great location. Very secluded and quiet, yet only a 10 minute drive to the grocery and liquor stores, which were important because we did get some rain and spent more time inside, though the environment was so inviting that was no hardship.
The owners recommended some close by attractions, and the Silver Lake Bog and overlook was one of the high points of the trip. I hiked up to the overlook what was located right within the neighborhood and though it was a LOT steeper than I expected, and a little bit longer, it was well worth the effort. The weather was obliging, it was sunset, and the best views of our entire trip.
There was plenty of dry wood provided and we had fires going most of the time, both inside and out. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen was equipped for all that we could need.
Great vacation..

Property is fairly secluded without being too far from civilization. Having two bathrooms was a huge plus with a large group. Well appointed kitchen and the fire pit with wood provided was great. Owners friendly and quick responses to questions. Surprised us at check in with a bottle of champagne because I let them know we were eloping at sunrise on a local mountain. Went above and beyond as hosts! We had a great stay and would definitely book again!

Nice little cabin in woods. Wood for outside pit was covered and dry. Love outside firepit! Glad we brought another air mattress. The one in cabin didn't hold air. Loft view is amazing!!! Wasted space up there though with just two twin beds.

My family and I had a great stay. The cabin was cozy and quiet. We were right around the corner from fishing access, close to many hiking trails. Great weekend getaway!
