The house was the worst property we have ever rented smelled musty stains in carpet couch pillows where dirty roof leaked mold visible outside was dirty and not kept up it was the worst looking house in the subdivision couldn't get tv to work dish network kept saying no intern wifi password was wrong wouldn't connect inside of oven was dirty have pics to prove everything .

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at captains cove. The house was perfect for our needs in a beautiful location. Would recommend. It would be helpful though if there was a ladder to get in and out of the bay. Some of the steps in the front of the house should be fixed also. This did not take away from our stay.

The home is probably the oldest in the neighbor. It’s on the canal and has nice views of the neighborhood’s newer homes and boats. It could use some updating & TLC but had a nice layout and a very private master suite on 2nd floor. Easy to get to Virginia’s Asseateague Island beach and all it has to offer. Wallops Island is just minutes away.

Really enjoyed the sunroom overlooking the canal. Nice neighborhood, friendly neighbors. Comfortable.

This property had everything to enjoy your stay! We all absolutely had the best time and really enjoyed being by the water

We enjoyed our stay here! The property location was convenient to Chincoteague, which is what we came for. The neighborhood was clean, quiet, and friendly, and we enjoyed watching the water from the back porch. The property manager communication was friendly and helpful, as well. The property was comfortable and relaxing.
The onky drawback was the cleanliness of the property. The home was neat and looked tidy, but the linens were not put on the beds, instead folded at the end for us to make. After a long drive, ypu don't want to have to make your bed. The toilet paper rolls were empty in the bathrooms, although spare rolls were left for us with our welcome bag. Finally, the floors could really use a good cleaning. We brought our grandson who is just crawling and starting to walk, and he came away rather dirty from what appeared to be soot from maybe a smokey fire in the fireplace. If the things mentioned here were taken care of in the future for future guests, the property would be excellent!
In all, we enjoyed our stay and would come back to this property again!

Great location, nice club house, restaurant and pools, well equipped- newer appliances, bedding, linens, kitchen utensils. Beautiful breezes. Close to family.

Pros: The location is great: near the marina where we launched our boat, and left it tied up right out our back door. The place was clean and the furniture was comfortable. The sunroom overlooking the canal was nice.
Cons:
1. The dishwasher was broken. We had to go to Food Lion, 20 minutes each way, to buy dish detergent and paper plates.
2. No dish drainer in which to put the dishes we had to hand wash.
3.
The internet was out the entire week we were there. Three calls to the rental agency brought no help.
4. There were only 2 or three drinking glasses and no juice glasses, so we had to buy Solo cups.
5. No oven mitts.
6. A ladder is needed at the dock to assist with exiting a boat. Also docking cleats are needed.
7. There are no luggage racks and no dressers to place clothes.
8. There is no hair dryer there.
We got this place at a good price, but it is apparent that the owner is not concerned with supplying some of the basic necessities to insure a stress-free, pleasant stay for the renters. I guess you get what you pay for.

Beautiful house, cute little quiet neighborhood! Amenities could use some attention before the next guest - wifi didn’t work (difficult for work from home) and upstairs shower didn’t get hot water. The home could also be improved by adding Netflix or smart tv for entertainment. And some hot pads for the oven! But overall beautiful space, lots of windows and natural light, clean home.

Loved the neighborhood, very quiet and relaxing. I wouldn't rent this house with children though. Lots of nails sticking up on the porches and docks to cut your feet on or trip. Railings on deck were loose. Pans were dirty when we checked in and just put away in cabinet. We are outdoor people and didn't spend much time indoors so the issues inside were no big deal to us. We really enjoyed the Greenbackville area enough that I would rent in that area again.

Stayed Labor Day weekend at this property. Had an amazing time relaxing and enjoying the bay. Very quiet and just what we needed!
4.3
We really enjoyed our stay. The place was peaceful and quiet. However, it would have been nicer if there were more kitchen supplies and a TV in the master bedroom.

Great location
Good: walking distance to pool, basket ball court, golf course and marina. On the canal and comes with two paddle boards and a 2 person Kayak. 20 min drive to beach, hour to ocean city. Awesome community, people are very friendly and marina restaurant is great and very low key. Golf course is nice, under 16 play for free.
Not so good: house has need of regular maintenance, steps to porches need repaired/painted, could use updating throughout, endless light switches and no idea which controls which... seems like more than half don't work/control anything. Also if you get the linen service, they could label linens as sizing.
Overall would recommend renting in captain's cove, but unless house is gone thru and things maintained, maybe look at another house. Rental agency very helpful, came right out when we identified issues.

The house from the outside was nice. Until we went inside. Where do I start, we we’re supposed to get a call when the house was done, never received a call. Then, there were 2 entrances to get into the house one of the entrances were so filled with cobwebs and dead spiders was disgusting. There were cobwebs in some of the corners of the inside of the house also. When I mentioned it in a text I was told that “you do know we live in the country and we do have a lot of spiders “. I live on 13 1/2 acres in Pennsylvania deep in the woods and I don’t have that much of a mess. My thoughts were, but you have a cleaning crew and an inspector, what would it have taken to take a broom to it. Then I n the master bedroom, the curtain rod was broken only holding on by a cup hook in the middle, one of the chairs had a broken leg which was very obvious to see. We tried to open up the beautiful windows by the water and the handle just kept spinning. When we were able to get it open we opened the other window and the bracket was busted, so to close it we had to stick our hand out one window to close the other window. When I mentioned it through a text I was told “that it was such a beautiful day that the inspectors and the cleaning people had the windows open and they were operable.”And then after that statement “I was was told that it wasn’t really window open weather today. “ I personally think that would be my choice about window open weather. So I took video, then I was told they would have the maintenance people look at it, so was it operable or not. The garbage was supposed to be picked up Friday when we got there, garbage was never picked up Friday was told that garbage pick up was on Friday. When we left the garage can was so full couldn’t close the lid. I have rented many many homes, for over 30 years. But, when the video was sent the tone changed. So you make the judgment. And now you can understand my title. “USE YOU JUDGEMENT “

The property is nice, however some maintenance is needed. Many of the lights had burned out light bulbs, windows would not open, doors wouldn't lock, no screens in window, carpets were stained. Property just needs some personal attention.

Quite home on the water
My partner and I had a wonderful stay at this vacation home in Captain's Cove. The owners very responsive leading up to our trip. The house itself was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was adequately equipped with cookware and table settings for 12. We loved spending time in the sunroom and grilled and ate out on the dock every night we were there. There is also a double kayak and two paddle boards that we used on the canal. All in all a great getaway to relax and decompress.

Perfect Winter Getaway
A beautiful house and a perfect weekend getaway! We particularly loved the sun room overlooking the canal, the open living room, and the master bedroom upstairs. We will be back!

Great cottage - get rid of the rugs
The house was comfortable and cozy. Everything we needed. Beds were comfortable. But the area rugs were worn and dirty. The dining chairs were very wobbly. There looked to be some mildew spots on the bathroom ceiling and on the wall under the window in the bedroom with the two beds. Maybe caused by previous leaking from the window? There wasn’t any mildew smell so maybe that’s been fixed and the ceiling and wall needs cleaning. A strong storm hung around for a couple days and the house felt solid, no leaks. I’d return there, but please clean the mildew and ditch the rugs.

4.5 Stars. Relaxing stay on the water.
My friend and I loved our peaceful stay at this lovely vacation home on the water. It was calm and quiet, and at night you can see the stars. The sun room over the dock was our favorite place to hang, second to putting the Adirondack chairs on the dock and sitting by the water. Management is very responsive if you have any questions or need anything during your stay. It was a fully relaxing space, with short drives to Chincoteague VA and Assateague state park.
TIPS: Bring a hand towel for the kitchen and a bathmat for the bathroom. If cooking is really important to you, bring your own chef knife and a good pan. If internet is really important to you, bring your own hotspot (theirs was okay but it does cut out occasionally, all the more reason for you to be away from your computer and outside instead).

We had an amazing time at Casa del Canal. And Elaine was super responsive! Definitely a nice getaway and location is remote enough to get some space... Enjoy the water... But still close enough to go into Chincoteague to do stuff!

Arrived to find no Internet service, and no service person showed up during our 4-night stay. Location in rural Virginia, 20 miles from its market, Chincoteague, might have something to do with that. Or could be a maintenance issue: the place was dusty when we arrived and some of the tableware, glasses and dishes were smudged and dirty - firsts for VRBO rentals we've had on two continents and two islands. On the plus side, the house itself is laid out for bedrooms to catch the rising sun, has a south-facing enclosed porch for sunsets, and location in a development with a golf course points to whom it might serve better. The advertised "minutes from Chincoteague" means a 30-minute drive.
