We WHELK-come you and your family to come stay at our unique island vacation home. The idyllic island of Chincoteague offers an array of vacation experiences, and we are located in the heart of it all! Use our kayaks, bikes, and boogie boards by day, and take advantage of our convenient proximity to downtown by night. Our family fell in love with this slice of paradise many years ago, and we want to give you and your family the opportunity to experience all its beauty with the best stay possible.

~ABOUT THE HOUSE~
This is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1221 sq. ft. beach house located in town. We have a full kitchen, living room, dining area, office space, and screened-in porch. This house is perfect for a large family or two small families. We comfortably sleep 8 but can sleep a maximum of 10 with use of our sofa bed. Our second floor includes an additional small living space with a Smart TV and an attached bathroom. Our kayaks, bikes, beach supplies, and grill are available for use with NO additional fees. Please note, LINENS AND TOWELS ARE NOT INCLUDED but can be rented for a fee.

~IMPORTANT INFORMATION~
LINENS AND TOWELS ARE NOT INCLUDED. Use of personal linens and towels are preferred. However, we can provide these items for you at a cost of $17 per bed. | We use a professional cleaning company for your safety. There will be a cleaning fee added to your bill. | Access into home is by stairs only (3-4 steps). | The steps to the second level are narrow. | 4 adult sized bikes are provided. If you prefer to ride with a bike helmet, please bring your own properly fitting helmet as they will not be provided. | 4 kayaks are provided. We supply 4 keyhole life jackets (standard orange) but feel free to bring your own properly fitting life jackets. Guests will need a way to transport kayaks.

~ABOUT THE LOCATION~
One of the highlights of our beach house is that it is within walking distance to the Historic Downtown of Chincoteague! Here you will find restaurants, art galleries, gift shops, coffee shops, the waterfront park, a fishing pier and all that Main St has to offer! We are located off of the intersection of Clark St and Main St. Three blocks north you will find Chincoteague's other main road, Maddox Blvd, which will take you right out to the beach!

Getting around is extremely convenient from our location. Our close proximity to downtown eliminates any parking hassles! In addition to being within walking distance to Chincoteague's in-town activities, any part of the island is just a bike ride away! We have parking for one dedicated to our building and free street parking facing east on Clark St.

~HOUSE POLICIES~
No smoking/vaping in house or on porch / No pets / No parties/events / Quiet hours are 10pm-7am / No loud music / No undeclared guests / Report damage / No stealing / No illegal substances on premises / Follow all rules regarding amenities (ex: relock bikes, no manipulation of TV cables, follow kayak safety and permit regulations etc.) / Follow all checkout instructions (*you may be billed if additional cleaning is required) / Failure to follow these rules may result in loss of security deposit, added fees and/or eviction

Sir Whelk a Lot worked out great for the 4 of us. The upstairs has 3 beds and its own bathroom, so it was like having a separate suite. The steps are narrow, so you have to be careful. Great location

The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need and in super condition, the bedrooms are great so everyone can enjoy some quiet time and privacy. Loads of beach gear provided, games as well. Location convenient to get to beach, shopping, mainland bridge, boat trips and eating out. Very much enjoyed the evening sun sitting on the swing on the front porch.

This house served our group really well. It’s clean, spacious, and in a fantastic location to walk to shops along the main street. It’s in a quiet location, but in a perfect spot for activities. You can explore the beach and forest all day and this is the perfect place to relax and revive. There is an outdoor shower to wash the beach off after a day in the sun. You can’t go wrong staying here. It’s hard to have a bad time on Chincoteague island. This house will accelerate your wonderful stay.

We had a great stay with our family of six- kids aged 9-14. Having the bikes was a hit for the teens to be able to roam to get ice cream or to fish at the park. It was clean and cozy. The host did a great job communicating before and during our stay. If we get to Chincoteague again, will definitely check here for available!

This Island House meets all expectations for anyone looking for a beach getaway including a couple, couples, or a family. The addition of bikes, kayaks, and everything needed for a day at the beach adds to the value. The house is an easy 5 mile drive or bike ride from the beach and the neighborhood is in an imminently walkable area of town. You will have plenty of walkable options for eating and sightseeing from this house.

Sir-Whelks-A lot was a true delight for my husband and my getaway to Chincoteague. The property owner was so easy to communicate with and had everything ready for us to enjoy. It was such a value added that they provided kayaks which we enjoyed on two separate outing. Bikes were also available. The house was clean and comfortable and the decor was so fun! The location was perfect. We walked to shops and restaurants for breakfast and dinner. The beaches and surrounding areas are so beautiful. Thank you so much for a great stay!

Stayed the here with my adult daughters for my birthday weekend. Great location for walking to many interesting shops and restaurants. The beach was lovely and we enjoyed the trails in the park. The house is comfortable, clean, and we enjoyed having three beds upstairs that we could use for a girls sleepover. We would rent this property again if in the area.

It had been several years since the family visited Chincoteague and our stay at Sir-Whelk-A-Lot was a fantastic way to become reacquainted with the community. It's location and proximity to main town attractions made walking to our destinations a breeze, and for longer journeys, four bicycles are provided to use. The place is very clean and has every amenity one needs. The owners go out of their way to make one feel right at home. Too bad our stay was not longer. Highly recommend folks stay at Sir-Whelk-A-Lot if spending any time in Chincoteague.

We loved our getaway on Chincoteague island! The cottage is comfy and the front porch lovely! We rode bikes offered by the owners all around the downtown area! We could also walk to nearby shops and restaurants on Main St. The gorgeous beach of Assateague was only a 10 minute drive! Be sure to get pastries and coffee at AmaRin and delicious hand-made ice cream at Island Creamery--both on Maddox Blvd!

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this property! We had a group of 8 total, 4 kids and 4 adults. There was plenty of room for everyone! The inside was very clean and inviting. Owners are very easy to work with and respond quickly to any questions or concerns. Couldn’t have asked for a better overall experience, made it very easy to relax and enjoy the vacation!

Overall, our stay at this property was great. There were a couple of minor hiccups, but the owner/manager was very prompt with remedying the issue. The location is fantastic- we walked to most restaurants and shops and when it came time to rent some bikes to explore Chincoteague and Assateague, it was a 6 minute drive to the place to get them. The property was beyond clean and I loved that all the mattresses have covers on them for your own bedsheets. It was also nice having things available like 5 bikes to ride, blowdryers, lots of tv options, etc. Overall, a fantastic location and home to explore the islands!

This was the perfect house for our large group. The bedrooms on the first floor were perfect for my mom as she was still recovering from hip surgery. The top floor was perfect for all the kids to stay together and have their own hang-out space. Loved the open floor plan, bc you could be in the kitchen and still have conversations across to the dining area and into the den area. It has everything you could need on vacation. Bikes, kayaks, hair dryers, all kitchen essentials you could possibly think of and more. The decor was amazing! So beachy and fun....beautiful pictures!! We loved everything!

Property was exactly as described and had more than enough room for several guests. The location was within walking distance to several places to eat and have coffee. The available bikes and kayaks would be great to enjoy the island but we were only on a 3 day weekend and didn't really get to that. We walked out to Assoteague Island and it was only a couple miles. Overall it was a nice quick getaway and I would highly recommend to anyone.

Description is spot on, communication with owner excellent. We ended up staying here past minute and I am so glad our plans changed. Enjoyed being able to walk/bike to grocery store, restaurants, and over to Assateague Lighthouse. My youngest learned to fish. Something for everyone! House was very comfortable with plenty of space for us to gather together or rest separately.

This lovely home is completely updated and conveniently located in town. We could walk to shops and restaurants. The amenities provided were amazing! We used the bikes, kayaks, and beach gear. The fully stocked kitchen allowed us to cook some meals as well. The owner responded to a question I had within minutes. We had a wonderful experience during our week long stay at this property. I highly recommend Sir-Whelk-A-Lot!

This property is absolutely fantastic. They have provided all the amenities that you could think of for beach vacation, and more! First of all the location: right in town, a short walk to restaurants and shops, and a short drive to the beach and yet on a quiet street. The amenities provided are ideal! Everything you could think of that you need, including couches, TVs, a fully stocked kitchen, on top of basic needs such as great beds and bathrooms. They have additionally provided items like beach chairs, kayaks, bicycles, and so much additional stuff that you don't even expect! There is a lovely front porch with a swing, an outdoor shower to clean off that sand before getting in the house. The hosts are quick to respond to questions and were available for us throughout. All in all, this house is an ideal vacation spot, and I cannot recommend it enough.

We had everything we might need on the property. Liked all the blue notes from owner with tips/info. Had way more space than we needed for the 3 of us, but my teen liked having the whole upstairs to himself! (And window air conditioner for upstairs.) Could have had another family with us. Walked, road bikes, kayaked. Very convenient location. Loved the screened porch and porch swing!
