Our family came together at this fantastic location for a mini family reunion. From young children, to teenagers, to grandparents, and all those in between, everyone loved it. It was especially nice to have separate sleeping areas on 3 separate floors. The kitchen was huge and perfect for our large family. It was nice to have a large dining table so we could all eat together. We enjoyed using the grill as well. The kids and teenagers especially enjoyed the game room. It was refreshing to have the hot tub to relax in after a long day of riding bikes on the Virginia Creeper Trail. Memories made around the fire pit. And the views..... oh the views, breathtaking! The ride up to the house was incredible, with scenic mountains and Christmas tree farms. But the view from the house itself was picturesque. I think the best compliment I can express is that no one wanted to be on electronics. The house was accommodating for time together as a large family, yet there were enough separate areas that we could break away if needed. It was so peaceful and quiet outside. Many of us found ourselves getting up early just to enjoy a cup of coffee with those amazing views and peace. We felt removed from chaos, yet stores and activities were within a short distance. We had a small issue with the upstairs shower leaking into the master closet, but overall, an incredible experience! Would 100% stay here again and recommend to anyone!

The view from the deck was spectacular and perfect for coffee in the morning and a drink in the evening. We hosted a wedding party of 18 in the cabin and it fit us all nicely. The kitchen is open and great for meal prep and serving and the rest of the rooms are spread out so everyone can find a space to hangout. The game room and hot tub were a great addition. The driveway is a little steep but the well-lit entrance off the main road made it easily navigable. The host was kind and very responsive.

We decided to take our Youth Group on a Fall Retreat and found this location online. The mentors and students loved the cabin and all the amenities. This is the first time we decided to rent a cabin vs going to another facility and it did not disappoint! The students loved it so much they want to go again in the future. The property owners were very responsive to all questions and accommodating to our needs. Highly recommend if you're looking for a place to get away!

We stayed at Bear Feet Retreat for my husband's Birthday this past weekend! We have a very large family with my husbands brother and sisters. They all brought their spouses and kids and we also had mom with us! We were a house full but we had plenty of space and never felt crowded! Everyone had a comfy place to lay their head at night. My husband and I come to the West Jefferson area often and always like to have a good mountain view. I can say this view beat any rental we have stayed in before. We started out the day with a sunrise view of the mountains from the hot tub and ended it with the adults having a drink on the beautiful deck. We sang kareoke in the large kitchen and even had a dance party for the kids. There ws plenty of space for everyone to eat and gather. We were beyond pleased and I could go on forever with all of the wonderful amenities. Also the owners were responsive through the VRBO app whenever I had a question.
Thank you for helping our family make lasting memories!

This was a beautiful property, spacious and very clean! It was the perfect place to have a family gathering to celebrate Thanksgiving with plenty of things to do in the cabin. Hot tub, pool table, ping pong table and many different board games! The fire place outside the cabin has a beautiful view of the mountains and perfect set up for having a cozy fire. I hope it stay again in the future!

We had torrential rain during our stay. We are from the coast and are very familiar with wind driven rain during a hurricane. I gave the homeowner the benefit of the doubt that he certainly had no control over the leaks until the next morning when we went outside and saw all of the patchwork repairs and wood rot on the outside of the house. Rain was leaking in over five places in the home. Downstairs through the ceiling, through the window, upstairs through the walls dripping over the light switches and puddling on the floor. Contacted homeowner and he sent someone out to try to fix the problem. The problem was beyond what he could fix. One of our suitcases was filled with water, we spent our time on Friday putting dry towels in windows trying to safe the property-only then we had to wash/dry towels to have towels to use. He offered us an early checkout on Saturday but that was the only day we were able to enjoy the outside, he refunded the cleaning deposit, had a dehumidifier delivered but no compensation for our time spent trying to save the interior of the home. Never again!

We loved our stay at Bear Feet Retreat! It is a lovely property with amazing views. It is secluded but only a 10 minute drive into town for a small town vibe that include restaurant/breweries. We would definitely recommend it!

I took 15 App State students here for a 3-day training retreat. Monica and John are wonderful owners. They allowed me to do two walk-thru's: two months and then a few days prior to our stay.
The house has everything that's listed. The students loved the fire pit and outdoor hot tub. The layout was perfect for our needs. Sorry, John, but I think we beat your Galaga high score.
I have no criticisms, but I do have a few suggestions. Fifteen college students for 3 nights requires a few things. For large groups, stock up on a more toilet paper. I had brought an additional 10 rolls and that did the trick. Make sure the house cleaners leave dish soap and trash bags. Perhaps create a check list. I twice had to run out for basic supplies.
Monica and Joh have not had the house long. I suggest gradually adding more kitchen supplies. I brought my own blender and extra cooking and and tools; they came in handy. Again, these things take time to build. Some of the kitchen cooking supplies used for mixing are made from synthetic materials. They bend and that makes it tough for stirring pasta in the pot when cooking for 15 people. Perhaps get more wood and/or metal cooking tools.
Our overall our experience was 100% positive. It's a charming home and I expect to return with my students next year.
Thank you for a lovely time. The location was perfect!
