The room and bathroom were both comfortable and spacious. There was a nice choice of self-service tea and coffee. A good shower and an excellent array of toiletries. The staff were very helpful, attentive and friendly.
At times the noise from the bar below made us feel like we were in the same room as the customers! However, this was not a problem after 11pm when most customers had left. Also, I am not a lover of Sourdough toast with Eggs Benedict, it is very difficult to cut, not to mention difficult to eat........should be banned!

Everything that we had hoped for in a beautiful country pub.
Nothing, we were catered for perfectly

Absolutely charming pub in a very pretty village. beautiful old bar with log fire, more modern but equally lovely restaurant area. The staff were lovely, very friendly and attentive, and the room was very comfortable and characterful. Dinner and breakfast both delicious with quite a bit of choice.
only one tiny thing was that the heating was on full blast all night, but once we realised, it was fine because we turned the radiator off, so not really a big deal.

the old charm and furnishings
it was very cold in the bar and restaurant and several people kept coats on but I do understand it is difficult to keep such a old building warm in freezing weather conditions

A lovely quiet little town that this inn is located at. A convenient stop in our road trip. Marvellous, modernly-decorated room. Restaurant serves excellent breakfast and dinner.
If only the weather wasn’t that icy so that we can benefit from the beautiful courtyard.

The Kings Head Inn is set in a lovely, quaint country village which was a traditional Cotswold setting. The Inn itself has a very rustic appearance on the outside, but don't be fooled by it as this is largely all for show. The standard of the accommodation itself left much to be desired. If you still decide to stay here after reading this review, then avoid Room 6 at all costs! On the plus side, the room did come with bottled water for guests.
The accommodation (Room 6) was extremely poor. The room is situated immediately above the kitchens, which have the extractor fan going at all times when staff are working - up to 10pm on each of our 2 nights. The noise from the fan was such that you couldn't hold a conversation at normal volume, and the smell of cooking fat generated by it was extremely unpleasant and meant that we had to keep the window closed. The television is situated in the far corner of the room in such a position that it is impossible to be seen by the person laid furthest away on the bed if two people are sharing. Every floorboard creaked when walked upon - not only in our room, but also in Room 5 next door, which could be heard through the exceedingly thin dividing wall between them! Each of the rooms (we took a peek in Room 5 to check) has a gravity-fed shower head aimed directly downwards, with no option for an angled spray for those who don't want to get their hair wet each time they use the shower - and no provision of shower caps either. The penny-pinching of the facilities provided also extended to just one pack of two biscuits to share between two occupants and no liners in the bin for the room. All of which left us with the opinion that every possible measure had been taken to reduce costs at the expense of guest comfort.
The Kings Head Inn claims to offer a 'gastro' dining experience. Whilst checking in, the surly man in reception remarked that he was surprised to see that we had only reserved a table for dinner for the first night of our stay - and I'm very glad that we stuck with our plans and were not swayed by his comments! The dinner that evening was OK, but nothing more than that, and certainly not the fabulous dining experience we had been expecting from the praiseworthy comments on their own website - definitely a further example of style over substance!

It is very characterful, charming and is exactly what you expect an English rural inn to be like. employees are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is excellent.
The bartender would not exchange the cloudy beer I was served at the bar for another kind of beer when I complained and was rather rude to me. There is no fridge in the room.

6.0
The atmosphere of the pub, which has a warm and friendly mood. The breakfast was excellent.
There was a lot of plumbing noise in my room when water was pumped to showers in adjacent rooms. The menu is rather limited and unimaginative.
