Lovely, authentic feeling oasis in the heart of Thamel
Bathroom was a little primitive given the price of the room.

The staff at Kantipur are exceptional! Extremely helpful with all of our requests and always willing to help. The setting and building are beautiful and the breakfast is also very accomodating with many options available, the team even made us packed breakfasts for an early morning trip to Nagakot for sunrise.

Very traditional architecture design with decorations full of cultural meanings. The room is very clean and spacious. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. They helped us arranged airport pick up and send-off. The location is right in the middle of the busy marketplace with many restaurants and shops around. 15 mins walk to the Dunbar. The hotel offers a free guided walking tour to visit nearby temples and experience the local life. Breakfast is pretty good with many varieties. The staffs are super friendly and they made special pancakes for our children. The restaurant offer traditional nepalese foods as well as western food.
This is a very traditional hotel without many modern equipments. We love its genuine traditional style but if you are looking for modern convenience, it may not offer that.

1 The knowledgable and good mannered staffs! All of them. They are so amazing that I wonder what kind of on-job training they are taking! I enjoy a lot especially the quietness in low season.
2 The big idea about eco friendly. I have no problem at all about the dimmy interior design as well as the drinking water (no plastic botttle) because I am conscious it’s for the environment.
3 the classy and old school architecture. So surprised to know it’s only 24 years building.
4 the pancake and fresh juice in the buffet breakfast
Nothing.

It's a beautiful hotel. It used to be a monastery, being here is like time travel.

Overall vibe of the hotel felt like I was staying in a Newari temple from Middle Ages. The design of the room was very pretty and the details were exceptional. The person who has done a design of this hotel did a very good job.
The staff is trained nicely and very polite. Dressed in national Nepali dress. They do a great job preserving Nepali culture at this place. It was a unique experience to stay there. I could NOT pick up a note of arrogance or any strange moods (some classy hotels have it in Nepal, as well as staff being overly familiar with clients, which is very unpleasant). So this respectful distance they have is a great plus I think. The manager Sajna, who took care of me during my stay, was very helpful and nice. Very nice lady.
I like how they promote sustainability and reduce the use os plastic. The hotel has a garden area, which is quiet rare in Kathmandu and thus a nice addition to the overall stay. Located in the very quiet area and the location is convenient. This is also valuable for Kathmandu, so after a day of sightseeing and all this big city rush, nice to come back to a nice a quiet place.
They did free upgrade me to the super deluxe room and Gosh, pleasant it was. I was staying in the hotel off season, so there was no yoga classes due to monsoon. But yoga is complimentary with the stay and they say it is happening at the rooftop every morning. I would love to try that next time I’m at Kathmandu.

The building itself and the surrounding area. The views that the room had which was overlooking the courtyard.
The bathroom could have been a little better. It was just alright.

Beautiful heritage style hotel with immaculate attention to detail in architecture and features. Comfortable bed, powerful shower. Strong eco values too (fabric bags lent by the hotel instead of using plastic bins lined with paper too!)
Breakfast good, staff really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend 😊
There is no A/C, but do provide good fans.

Very cool property with historical overtones around every corner. Property was very quiet despite being in a busy area.
Room was rustic and a little dark could have used more lighting. The room for what it was is a little pricey.

I had such an amazing stay at Kantipur Temple House. I love the architecture of the room which enhanced my experience in Nepal and the hotel's intention of protecting the environment. The breakfast and service was amazing! Also, I am truly grateful of the staff members at this hotel, especially Madan, a receptionist. I was impressed by his kindness, enthusiasm, and knowledge. He helped me plan my itinerary in Kathmandu and taught me a lot of Nepalese history and culture.
The fans could be less dusty.

Friendly and very helpful team.
Very authentic space like a traditional guest house temple. If you start your journey by booking this hotel, it will be truly unique and unforgettable

House with a its own character. Not one of those where you spend a night and forget about them.
The house itself, its location, architecture, colors - it makes memorable set of feelings.
Do not remember is there was A/C, but was not important for me.

The hotel itself is an outstanding experience. Old monastery in a very traditional Nepalese style with all the little details and decorations - we have dived into the culture of the country from the very first moment. Every moment was like a "WOW"

It was good - esp good. Room was adequate.

It was an authentic experience, it felt like you're actually staying in a temple.
The breakfast experience was very nice and the location is right in the middle of Kathmandu.
They have a relaxing garden to read and meditate.
The staff were extremely friendly, and we liked the fact that it's a family owned hotel.
We recommend this hotel if you're looking for an authentic local experience.
The rooms were a little basic for the price, and we had to stay in two small single beds, but it was fine for o e day.

location is fantastic, staff are very friendly and helpful, the room is beautiful and cool, hot shower at any time of day, comfortable bed, no plastic water bottles, beautiful attention to detail in the wood carving and construction of the hotel...
no complaints :)

Staff was very helpful. They changed one of our rooms to allow extra seating since we had two families traveling together and needed more seating. Food was very good. Breakfast buffet had a good selection of food. The hotel was a fairly new construction, but designed and built fit and match the historical architecture of the area. Each room is unique. Interior rooms overlooking courtyard are quiet.
Could have had a few more lawn chairs and tables in the garden areas. With the number of guests in the hotel, they weren't always available

The ambience of the entire property was exceptional, we all really felt like we were visiting a traditional temple guest house. The Heritage Walk offered by the property was very enlightening, and may have been the highlight of our trip - strongly recommended! The food, service, and hospitality shown us was all far above what was expected; the entire staff treated us courteously. and made sure that all our needs were met. If we ever come back to this part of the world, we will definitely return to this gem!

The breakfast was beautifully served . The milk tea was excellent.
The reason this place worked for me was some outside green space. A little tranquility in a city to read.
Also opposite hotel a very good place for a foot rub!
It's a little dark just because of the design, but that isn't a problem if you consider what the owner was trying to achieve .

Fell in love with this place as soon as I arrived. Charming beyond belief. Wonderful staff.

The hotel was beautiful, it had a certain old world vibe to it. Very well connected to Thames region yet separate from the noisy streets. The staff was very courteous and friendly and helpful.
I like that they were all for conserving energy but there should have been packaged drinking water options. The rooms were too dark.

Very warm and cosy. You get to experience authentic Nepali traditional living devoid of the distractions of modern day technology. It offers a tranquil oasis with warm cosy beds and turndown service. Best sleep i have had in Thamel. The restaurant also serves the most delicious red thai curry.
