Stunning old house with sympathetic additions set in lovely grounds. Dinner was good, I recommend the duck and the cheeseboard. The sausages at breakfast were excellent, and it was worth the early swim to get a table without waiting. It is twenty years since I was a regular visitor, and I personally preferred when the orangerie was an Italian inspired restaurant and not a laser lit wedding venue. The Tiramisu was definitely better then. Times and clientele change, but it is still a beautiful place where I will always have fond memories.
The poor hairdryer and shower gel and shampoo but no conditioner in the bathroom. A combined shampoo/conditioner would be slightly better, and interestingly, there was separate conditioner in the leisure facilities.

Very little. 50% discount because of problems below
Dead flys in my room on arrival. These were cleared away at my request but more flys returned when I was going to be - totally unacceptable
Staff not trained and not engaging

Plenty of amenities, lovely grounds
Much too big, lacking personal touch

The outside was the greatest wow factor.
The building is amazing, but the rooms are so mundane. The website did not show the rooms you most likely get; just the best ones. It felt like a bate and switch.

Lovely stay, made even better by the weather, which meant that much time was spent outside sitting on the terrace. The breakfast was good and plenty of food options.
We changed rooms as the first room was over the kitchen with a fan going all the time. The second room was lovely. Unfortunately, the room was not serviced the first day and we had to ask a couple of times for it to be done on the second day.

Everything. Especially the location
Nothing to say about what we did not like. It was perfect!

Gorgeous estate and grounds. Comfortable lovely room and good breakfast.
One server had to be asked several times to check if there was soup for dinner. At breakfast another server cleared my breakfast away even though i left my jacket on my chair- just went to the restroom!

Property just off the motorway, so ver convenient. Building and staff absolutely lovely.
In house cost. Because of the location you didn’t have a choice but to dine in…. Ouch.
Spa area not great, the ladies changing was away up some stairs and you definitely need some form of wet footwear, they should highlight this in the literature as it is a safety thing and not pleasant!

The calm, quiet atmosphere and the location
There is nothing I can complain about

The main building is impressive, although we did not taken advantage of the grounds they were well looked after. The courtyard room was spacious and bathroom large. The staff were very pleasant of those that we interacted with. Plenty of car parking and someone to meet and greet at the door would not go amiss.
The room had no mineral water on arrival and this had to be requested at reception which was readily available. Although if you are not in the main building it can be a bit of a walk with maze like corridors - I recommend one keeps an eye on the wall signs. The breakfast was self service and the hot buffet was not so hot. The scrambled egg was tasteless and typical of using powdered eggs - I'd be surprised if it wasn't. We had an evening meal, our first choice of Rose wine was no longer available, the second had to be returned as it was corked and we settled with a bottle of white wine. The steak had a little more gristle than one would wish for. Although a large room it felt tired and could do with a uplift. One table lamp did not work, even after swapping bulbs. The hotel guide was via a QR code which is fine if you're IT literate.

Amazing grounds, friendly staff and breakfast buffet was good
Room was very small, no A/C, very warm in the spring/summer. Room was right next to a hallway that had a door to other rooms that was constantly being opened and closed loudly. Bars very expensive especially cocktails for not very much in the glass.

Grounds amazing. Building / historically fantastic.
A little tired and dated in places. Need better signs for parking.
Not all facilities open or staffed. Attention to detail not good.

It obviously can be a very nice place to stay and breakfast was good (but see below)
I was particularly unhappy that they supplied a meal that was not gluten free. I had informed them of my requirements when booking and mentioned it numerous times during the meal. All courses were gluten free according to the menu and were confirmed to be gluten free when delivered. However something clearly wasn't gluten free and I was very ill. Greater effort was made to make the breakfast gluten free after my complaint. A big hotel like this has to be able to ensure food is gluten free and it clearly failed. No recompense was offered. It was also a long way from reception/dining area to my room.

Really nice Mannor stay, with some tasty afternoon tea, beautiful gardens and nature around
Reatraurants are a bit too expensive for what it its. (we went to the casual one) and £20 for a meh.. pizza or £20 for barely average burger is no bueno.

Price of drinks...was charged £16.50 for a glass of Malbec...ridiculous

Fabulous, luxurious estate with beautiful gardens, set in a beautiful and calm area.
While the hotel was amazing, the staff and the food in either of the restaurants was quite average (with above average prices). Quite long wait for the waiters as well despite the hotel being almost empty on a Monday evening.

Breakfast was ok. Diner was moderate.
The bedroom was old and simple. And it was very noisy when the toilets were flushed.
One day they didn’t clean the room.

Excellent value for money, hosted the dog in our room type and the grounds are first class! The building itself is stunning and clearly a lot has been spent on keeping the high standards for this hotel. Staff were delightful! I’ve stayed in many of the world’s best hotels but would return here again. Also, gym was great!

Food was very good but the room was awful, window didn’t close, needed decoration, paper thin walls and all a bit grim.
The window in the room would not close and let in a massive draft, decoration was poor, whole thing looked tired. Walls were very thin and you could hear everything around you. Spa facilities were poor.

I am upset because I cant get a reciept for this stay, Devere say I need to get it from booking.com and booking.com say i need to get it from Devere. The upshot is I've spent over £250 and can't get a reciept from anyone. This is unacceptable

we have stayed a few times here and love the gardens and Main hotel
This time we were in a room next to a stairwell and we’re obviously surrounded by wedding guests who were coming from reception event at various times during the evening making it difficult to sleep . Plus we were woken by small children crying at 4am . More thought should have been made to the location of our room .
Also bathroom was looking very tired needed renovation.

Love the relaxing atmosphere at the hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Lovely to sit with a drink outside in the garden during the day and evening. Check in and check out was quick. Breakfast was very good.
Would like more selection of evening meals in the main restaurant. There were only 7 choices on there. We ate in the atrium as more choice on there to our taste .

The facility was very nice but the employees seemed a little overwhelmed or inexperienced and the dinner service was extremely slow even for a sandwich or pizza.
Let us open windows during extremely hot weather.

It was a hotel on our way home from Cornwall. Just myself and my 8 year old daughter.
We where looking forward to it as the website looks so good. We unfortunately where left very disappointed.
The breakfast was relatively acceptable the following day and waning a nice room.
We where asked to book the pool which of course having my 8 year old with me I made sure I did and also booked for the following day.. The lady on the spa reception was very rude and direct and turned us away until am hour later. We went in the pool but it was absolutely packed. We couldn't so much as swim. It was a nightmare
We then went for dinner. After being ignored for roughly half an hour I had to go to the reception and ask why I was being ignored. Apparently you need to have a man with you in order to be served or taken seriously at this hotel.
It was just awful. There was one lady on the main reception when we arrive who was lovely but that's pretty much where it ended.
The hotel room was hot with a window. Bolted shut. It was old and tired looking and there was no chance of room service. This place is ridiculously over charged.

The main building is stunning. As are the grounds. The staff were excellent, helpful and really accommodating. Breakfast was excellent. Steaks were pretty yum too.
Our room at the back was pretty grubby, especially the bathroom. Stain toilet and sink overflow which needed a good scrub. Previous occupants hair. Rusting / corroding bath and taps. Frayed carpet and carpet felt mucky. Just needs an overhaul asap.

Beautiful building and grounds. Makes you feel like you are in a castle.
A room booking includes access to the indoor heated swimming pool and spa pool but you have to book your time. Food was excellent.
No AC but a Dyson fan was provided in the room.

Beautiful building and grounds.
Staff were excellent
Our room was large but stuffy. I wouldn’t want to stay there in really hot weather as no air conditioning.
Not much natural light either but of course it’s an old building.
Room needs updating.
Other rooms might be much better. We were based very far from reception.
4.0
Beautiful grounds, dog friendly
Worn out rooms, slow service, dirty, food wasn’t great
