Nice basic pub. Room clean and comfy but nothing special. It's a good price though, the staff are lovely, good breakfast.
It's a little old and in need of a spruce up/refurb. Rooms are small.
4.5
good location for what I needed and good breakfast
nothing

nice sized room, good shower, very comfy bed, brilliant breakfast and great staff
in the room was a Green emergency light, very bright so room was not dark at all

In general, quite happy with the place. One minor issue, the room had no access to wifi, the signal wasn't strong enough in that particular room (room 3). Everything else was great. Helpful staff, food was good, good location, just a few minutes from the train station and several take aways.
2.5
The bed
Expensive WiFi , Expensive bar , cold room , dripping taps , old fashioned door key , dirty windows , dirty bedspread , breakfast not great
3.5
All was good from start to finish
3.5
central to the train station
I had gone for a single room instead of a double bathroom very tight, but maybe this is normal

The historical building. Would have liked to know more of its history as a coaching Inn. Staff helpful. Room generally comfortable. We were out in the evening so sadly didn't use the hotel bar or restaurant. Situation was excellent.
WiFi very patchy upstairs. Pillows uncomfortable. Decidlely lumpy! No bath plug. Breakfast fine but unimaginative in its range. I (Female) didn't like facing an array of shelved magazines at breakfast (admittedly only Sunday supplements! ) with pouting/posing females on the covers. It looked as if someone had deliberately arranged them so!
4.5
Excellent full English breakfast.
Helpful staff
Great food in the restaurant and an extensive menu
The rooms could haven bigger; but what can you expect from a 600 year old building!

Very pretty outdoor presentation on arrival. Staff very friendly & welcoming.
Nothing really…. bathroom towels aged but other than that …✅

Comfortable bed, excellent breakfast
Green light on constantly in the room.
Our room was considerably smaller than a second one we had booked for the same price.

Great location and very helpful staff.
2.5
Good location in Royston, possible to go everywhere walking.
Breakfast was nice, but it is not a buffet with bread, cheese, warm and salty things (only frinks, fruits and cerials were exposed) and there is no menu. I was asked if I would like to have something cooked, I am not used to that. Positive side is that all food is freshly prepared for you!
1. There was no hair drier in the room.
2. The bathtub couldn't be used as bathtub as the stopper to close the drain was missing.
3. I could not make hot water coming from the upper shower.

We were staying due to a nearby wedding - so the location worked for us. The lunch we had was decent.
Dirty bathroom (mould under taps), a shower curtain which sticks to you in the post-Covid era doesn’t make anyone feel good 🤢, broken tiles and fixtures, creaky bed at any movement and floorboards which creaked at every step - including outside the room - which rattled the wardrobe and the top of the four poster bed… it was the worst night’s sleep I can ever recall having… and I have two young children. Parking situation was never made clear, staff on Saturday were (at best) disinterested and (at worst) utterly rude… the place desperately needs freshening up… we just expected more.
