The hotel, staff, food (breakfast and evening meal) - a good service given throughout our stay, we will return for another stay.
Nothing, all good

Dinner was very good, great food reasonable prices. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Plenty of car parking.
Breakfast, we had breakfast included with the room, in which case there seemed to be a choice of either a cooked breakfast menu or a cereal menu. I would have liked cereals as part of my breakfast, but as the choice was very limited I didn't bother to find out if my understanding was correct.
4.3
The vegan food was delicious.
The staff were really helpful and friendly.
The decor was lovely too!
4.3
loved the building
it was a bit of a rabbit Warren but clearly was not originally built to be a hotel.
4.3
They alllowed to check in early at no extra cost as we going to the theatre in the afternoon

Breakfast was very odd. Help yourself to tea from a hot water flask. No teapots hence numorous trips to the table with your cup. No cereal on offer. No fruit. Only fruit juice. Main English breakfast was well cooked and quality produce used. How sad you have had to make savings by cutting down on cereals !
Our room was in the eaves. So had to climb three flights of stairs as no lift. Loft window had no blind so awake at dawn. Bathroom very tiny.
Size of our bedroom in the attic and the climb up flights of stairs as no lift.
Thin quilt on. No extra blankets. Tiny bathroom.

Characterful building nicely decorated
Vegetarian choices could have been better for dinner and t would ha e been nice if cereals had been offered at breakfast

The location and decoration.
The welcome was poor. The bed settee was unmade eventhough I'd specified 4 of us were staying and there was a stain on the duvet cover. The mattress on the bed was too hard and the mattress on the bed settee was lumpy. The duvets were very thin and the 1 on the bed settee was too small for 2 people to share. The shower wasn't enclosed properly so water splashed all over the floor and toilet and there were only 2 towels for 4 people!! Floor mats had to be requested. The food in the restaurant was poor, it looked gorgeous but the bao buns were hard, the chips were hard and I had to order 1 particular drink 4 times before it finally arrived. The manager stopped my 16yr old son from having a dessert cocktail eventhough by law it's at a parents discretion when eating in a restaurant. The breakfast set up was not explained, service was very slow eventhough there were only 3 guests in the dining room on our arrival. The coffee was cold but the breakfast itself was fine although we'd have much preffered a buffet breakfast. There was no fruit or yogurt option. The manager knew we were staying as a special occasion but just wished us a good day after we'd finished breakfast, this felt odd. There was no one to check us out so we just left the room key on the reception desk. We won't be staying again.

Fabulous surroundings but there was an issue in the kitchen area which meant we could not help ourselves to top up beverages/juice but the waiting person offered refills
On Saturday there was a further issue in the kitchen and there was a very scaled down menu. The staff tried their best under the circumstances and a re-written menu was offered

Our break went quite well the staff in the restaurant & bar were extremely efficient, very friendly and helpful.
Our sleep was continually interrupted by noise transmission from the adjoining room.

The occasion was an 80th birthday celebration. We have visited the hotel before and were impressed with the quality of the accommodation and the service provided. Service was once again excellent and we were happy with the cleanliness, decor and comfort of the rooms. We had a drink in the main bar and a delicious evening meal in the hotel restaurant.
We were happy with everything.

Beautiful property which we would return to without hesitation & highly recommend :-)

Convenient location, 40 minute walk into the centre of Harrogate. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The location, staff, facilities. Everything was perfect.
Nothing to dislike.
4.3
Room very comfortable, lovely decor, good food
The bar staff were very slow clearing the tables in fact they didn’t clear them, all of the empty tables we looked at had dirty plates/glasses on and they weren’t cleared while we sat having our drink at a table with empty bottles on, the bar was very quiet so no real excuse

Lovely hotel with great rooms. The staff were fantastic even changing my mum’s room to the first floor so she wouldn’t have to tackle too many stairs (she’s 85). Every staff member was delightful.
The floors are creaky but it’s an old building and that’s part of its charm.
4.3
excellent location, excellent staff who cared. lovely building

It was a nice hotel, the room was very clean. Nice bar and restaurant, small portions on the dishes we ordered on main menu.Breakfast portion was spot on.Order your breakfast not buffet style. Only tea and coffee and juice was on a table to help yourself.
Little storage for clothes, needs a shelf or two or open storage unit.
4.3
room had everything in needed very clean. breakfast freshley cooked to order.
my pasta dish said it had king praws in but they were small and could have had more crab in it
4.3
Spacious room for the four of us. Lovely hotel full of character.
Smell from the bathroom - could smell drains
Being locked in during the night and when we tried to exit early having to use the fire escape. No instructions so we ended up outside with room key and nowhere safe to leave the key. When i phoned to inform staff where i left the key met with a rude response.
Slow service at dinner (which in itself was ok) but it was clear some meals were ready before others and left to sit. I had to gulp water to get each moutful of pork to go down! Childs dessert portion was laighabke!
Room was hot but as it over looed the noisy beer garden had to keep windows shut so my children could srttle.
4.3
location excellent. Staff extremely helpful
