The place is absolutely beautiful. It is very peaceful and you can see lots of plants and animals. It was really easy to reach by bus, and also get to beaches and parque Tayrona by public transport too. Dona Petra and the other girls were lovely and made us feel really welcome.

Lovely helpful family who can help you with everything you need. Beautiful location to relax but also a short taxi from some of the nearby beaches and attractions

The property itself is so so beautiful - quaint rooms, with quiet surroundings close to the river. the bed was super comfy and all come with an insect net. our room was equipped with a fan and an air conditioning and a little ensuite bathroom. the highlight of our stay was Petra and her wonderful family, as well as the delicious breakfast she made every morning (which was included in our stay). we opted to eat at the hostal and we were not disappointed at all - we had amazing meals that we discussed with Petra in the morning and she would russle up something even better than we had imagined every evening! the super friendly dogs and being directly next to the river - which is great to swim in was a bonus. in terms of transport, the track runs 600m by car to the hostal (probably better with a 4x4) or a 300m walk (by the 300m sign there is a separate pathway with steps that takes you down to the hostal). it is also great in terms of location, being a 12minute bus ride to Tayrona Park, a 5minute bus from Guachaca (supermarket and a couple of restaurants) or a 20minute walk. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and cannot recommend this place enough!
Only a couple of little things:
the wifi didnt work in our room (but it is really good in the main areas, so not too big of a deal.)
important note for those who are less-able-bodied, the hostal has a lot of stairs, so it may be tricky for you if you are less mobile!

This property was gorgeous. Right on the river with nice views and good places to hang in hammocks with plants and birds all around and a little pond with frogs(which were a bit loud haha). The room was fine, good beds but small. The wifi was decent. The family that runs the place was very kind and helpful. About a 7 min walk from the road to easily catch the bus or a 20 min walk down the road to the main town where the shops and food is.
There was a large gap in the door so bugs did get in but also you are in a remote area so bugs are around. Sometimes the wifi cut out at night.

petra is such a lovely lady!! she runs this beautiful lush place directly by the river. it’s very quiet and you can hike around the area. she has some lovely dogs too. she made us fresh breakfast and dinner. it’s a simple place with basic amenities but we thought it was comfortable enough. great value, we would love to come back some day :)

Amazing location near to the river with a small beach where the water is deep enough to cover you.
The room in itself was spotless with comfortable beds.
Although you are just some 600 meters from the highway you don't hear any noise from the vehicles.
The caretakers, especially Petra, make you feel right at home and prepare really nice food as long as you ask with some time.
They don't take card or use dataphone. However you can withdraw cash in the town puerto nuevo some 20 mins away walking.

We had a great time at Palmares del Río! The place is beautiful, next to the Guachaca river and close to very nice hiking paths. Petra, Crisol, Jhonatan and the rest of the staff were extremely kind and made us feel at home.

Extended my stay instantly. It’s an oasis of relaxation away from the crowded tourist areas that surround Tayrona Park. Everything is clean, the staff is the best ever and who doesn’t like sleeping while listening to the birdsong of the jungle? For a perfect experience stay a few days! With the bus you can reach the beach and Tayrona very fast.
The only disappointment is that I have to leave.

Its name says its ecological but its everything but ecological
Its deforested. there’s no potable water, instead they sell water in plastic bottles with no other option for drinking water, products like soaps are not ecological at all.

It's like staying with your grandma. That could be pro or a con depending on you personally. The best part is the river. It's difficult to get to specially if your car is not an SUV.

The Eco Hostel Palmaris is a wonderful place to stay if you need some time to relax. Directly at the river you can enjoy nature and take a bath. Pedra is an amazing cook and also teached me some spanish. Thanks a lot for the nice time!

Surrounded by nature and the location near the river was really enjoyable
No water available for drinking. You had to pay for a bottled water.

We stayed here for only one night on our way to a walk to the Sierra Nevada, and it was perfect! Ms. Petra was super friendly and treated us like family !

Comfy bed
Racist. I literally still can't believe i just had to sit there getting insulted by this old woman. She was pulling faces....saying I was stuck up for not speaking Spanish (I can, just not confident to speak it) my heart was racing. They laughed at me, said random english words and laughed. Music was blaring all night. the rooms all share a roof. Loud, ugly place. I just cried. DO NOT STAY HERE.
