Great food lovely location staff friendly lovely rooms

Not a great room and generally grubby. No internet or phone signal in the room. Slow and not a good breakfast. Nice staff but lack of management. Poor value.

Really lovey old pub with rooms available. We stayed in separate cottage building round the back which was great as it was quiet and had easy access to the car park.
We used this as a holiday base to visit nearby castles, walking and the coast.
Inside full of old character log fire etc, huge beer garden at the rear.
Breakfast (included) was really good.
Managers and staff were great, very helpful and efficient.
Would definitely stay again.
Very Minor gripes/observations.
Very sad that the Thursday Wood fired pizza oven was not operational during our visit (due to possibility of rain)
Restaurant meals are good but a bit pricey.
Would have stayed all week -but it was booked out on Saturday night (every decent place is booked out on Saturday way in advance these days it seems).
Rear Car park rear entrance has a high camber so watch out low slung sports or long wheel base vehicles. I think there is a separate entrance via a gate which avoids this camber.

The room was spacious for a family of 4. The staff was really nice. The food at the restaurant was excellent.

The property was really lovely, extremely picturesque and quiet. The staff were excellent and extremely friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was excellent, with high quality ingredients. Best I’ve had in a hotel in UK for many years. Dinner in the restaurant is also very good; the place has a well-deserved reputation locally.
Note: For the pub rooms with shared bathroom only: Bathroom was a bit basic. Shower functional but water pressure very low and it would have taken a long time to fill the bath.
Plus point - the shared bathroom was onl shared between the 2 rooms that I had booked, and just across the corridor.

Charming old building with lots of historic character, pretty location, friendly staff, good breakfast.
No amount of historic charm justifies a charge of £120 for a room with a shared bathroom. The bathroom is lovely but it’s not en-suite and so the cost is way too high. I had no choice as it was all that was available.

Such a comfortable bed and beautiful stay. Very warm and welcoming. Defiantly be back again to stay.

Fab setting in lovely part Sussex

Lovely, family run pub. Great if you travel by car. Nice atmosphere and delicious food!

The setting and view from the windows were absolutely stunning. The breakfast and service were really great too. The size of the room and comfortable bed were fantastic!
A couple of the window blinds didn’t work, a lightbulb was missing and I couldn’t switch the lights on when I arrived in the dark. This just took the edge of what was otherwise a wonderful stay and left me feeling a bit cheated for the high price tag.
4.5
The food and the staff
The beds and the noise. No television channels. No milk for tea facilities. The window didn't open or shut properly. Could hear the conversations from the bar and the slam of the door as customers came and went

character property Very clean The family room and it’s bathroom were very spacious
beds were comfortable and the room was warm
the family room is on top of the pub There was noise till late (but you could sleep)
the restaurant and drinks not cheap, but good quality so fine

The accommodation, food and welcome were all excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. We felt genuinely cared for. We will recommend The Dorset Arms to friends and family and hope to return ourselves on another occasion.
There was nothing we didn't like.

Breakfasts were excellent, thank you. The staff were very helpful and supportive. Lovely quiet location with a view of the sheep!!
A very comfortable bed in a charming room, Knole, meant for 2 people but there was only 1 chair so we borrowed one from the sitting room!
En suite was clean with good shower but no shelf around the basin to put wash bags/ makeup/ shaving kit. One support under Loo seat missing!

Very nice and typical cottage in the countryside discovered under the snow. Some rooms are in the pub, the others are in a separate cottage. The rooms in the cottage are confortable.
Wonderful English breakfast.
Heating problems, one room had far too much heating, not possible to turn it off, the other room had not enough heating, The rooms booked initially were too cold and due to isolation problems, we had to change for more expensive ones.

The food was amazing so tasty, car park space and beds were very comfy
Room was cold as the temperature control was in the hall way which did the other rooms too.But not ideal if someone turns it down then the room got cold in the night. The room was un clean and dirt on mirrors ,broken window which could not be close.toilet wouldn't flush properly. Food was very costly. Could do with a toilet roll holder and not dump to one side

Loved every bit, the family room was spacious, warm, really large bathroom, all the staff were excellent, authentic, historical old building, cute pub area, excellent food, was just as good as we had hoped for. Will definitely revisit when back in the UK.
Nothing to not like.

Beautiful setting, the staff were lovely, spotless room and the food in the pub was brilliant.
couldn’t fault it
4.5
Quaint and historic, lovely staff. Served a nice selection of breakfast items and the porridge was unexpectedly good.
It’s a very old property and likewise has challenges due to its age. The family room is right above the pub, so if you need quiet to put kids to bed it’s not ideal. If you’re tall, getting up the stairs will be challenging.

School house a separate building. In Buckhurst room, our bathroom was huge with good bath and shower. Comfy area for reading in the public area. Very good cosy pub restaurant. Lovely walk in the Buckhurst estate.
Missing the second night when we were stuck in snow 10 miles away!

the old fashion look and feel were really good.
It was a bit cold especially at night. The one radiator which wasn’t on all the time, wasn’t enough in my view.

excellent location, comfortable beds, warm and spacious rooms. The pub downstairs is amazing too for drinks and dinner.
