The location was fantastic. A 10 minute walk from central Cambridge. A lovely view from our bedroom overlooking the river.
Unfortunately other than its location, all other aspects of the hotel were very disappointing. Decor and furnishings were very dated and shabby. It clearly hasn't seen a lick of paint or had an update since the early 90s. The room didn't have any plugs near the beds (clearly predates the era of mobile phones!). We had to use the telephone/kettle plug (one of which was broken so potentially unsafe) to charge our phones.
The beds were extremely uncomfortable, more like small singles and they moved around slightly in the night which was a surprise!
The bathroom was quite grubby - mould on the shower mat and the extractor didn't work.
Breakfast was absolutely terrible. We had the continental (as it was included). A tray of breaded ham and processed cheese, only sliced bread was on offer (but no working toasting machine) and the coffee was undrinkable.
The staff seemed disinterested and fed up. Thank goodness we were only there for one night.
A total rip off for £175.

Location and friendly helpful staff
Now quite dated ….Needs an upgrade in decor . Corridors, carpets and stairwells very tired indeed.

Convenient location. Good service at breakfast. Room had everything I needed and ironing facility was available.
No alternative tea option in the room. Would be great if there were other herbal tea options provided rather than just black tea. The same at breakfast - please provide a herbal tea option as well. Carpets in the room are a bit old and could do with a change.

Had a very nice meal in dining room , evening meal good location , bedrooms clean and spacious .
Had a problem with our room key , that didn’t work , but we were given a deduction in the price so at least it was rectified ,

The location is excellent with just a short walk to the city centre and there is parking
The hotel is tired and needs updating. It was extremely hot during our stay there is no air conditioning or fans in the rooms
3.5
The location was good. We were able to easily walk in to the centre and along the river. The view from the room was lovely, overlooking the park and the river
As other reviews have stated, the whole hotel is worn and in need of an upgrade, with the exception of the atrium on the ground floor, but I was quite shocked at the degree of wear and general grubbiness of seats, carpets, walls etc.
The room was not clean, with the exception of the bedding. There were cobwebs on the ceiling and the room had a very unpleasant musty/drains smell, which was even worse in the bathroom.
While I understood that there was no lift, I didn't expect to be on the third floor. Carrying luggage up and down a very narrow staircase, with stairs that were very worn and uneven, was dangerous.
The parking charges were expensive and the information about it on their and your website is ambiguous at best. Check in was from 3pm and check out at 10.30am. It transpired that the £18 we paid for parking only covered us for that period, after which we had to pay and additional £2.50 an hour. This is not clear from the information provided. The majoritu of people arriving in the evening would be expecting to go out around Cambridge for the following day and would expect to be able to leave the car without additional charge. Also, your website states parking is £18 per day, theirs states £18 per night - both are ambiguous compared to the reality.
There was no air conditioning in the reception area or the bedroom. Granted it was particularly warm during our stay, but I can't imagine that the airlessness we experienced would be acceptable in most of the Summer months
Some of the staff were pleasant, but the Residential Manager, who I would describe as a smiling brick wall, was very unhelpful when I tried to complain to her about the room and parking. She showed zero empathy, was unapologetic and offered no solution to the problems raised.

Staff helpful and friendly.
Opening times of Bar.
Cost of car park at £18 per night because we booked through Booking.com. No charge for booking direct. No advance warning of that.

Liked the central location, quiet part of town, good parking, tidy public areas
Looking a little dated, dusty room, shower a little slow at draining. Book directly with hotel to save on the parking charges. Photos show the dust in the room - come on Arundel, even once a week dusting would keep this down.

Great location-.I booked for my mum and she was very impressed- ‘clean as a whistle’ and ‘characterful’. Lovely supper.
She was fine but felt it would be difficult for limited mobility as no lift…

Room was a decent size.
Bathroom needs some attention.

Second time I'm staying here, my main reason for choosing this hotel is the location, just perfect from walking around Cambridge. This time I got a quiet single room at the back with a lovely view. Everything was very clean and the shower was great. I was glad for to see fresh fruit at the continental breakfast.
3.5
Breakfast was excellent. Continental. Varied choice. Staff through out were exceptional. Room was spacious.bed comfortable. I would say that there are quite a few stairs and because of the nature of the building a lift is not practical. We came by train but Arundel House has a sizeable carpark. I could not find fault with this hotel and we are hoping to visit again next year.
I can't think of anything that I didn't like.

It was ideally situated, clean and comfortable
I had only one negative observation. The dining room was very stuffy as there was no movement of air when it was a very warm day
3.5
The location, the cleanliness, the conservatory, the bed, the pillow
too noisy, too hot, the single room is really small, the doors are extremely noisy when used,

Location can not be beat
The staff was incredibly rude. First- they were absolutely unable to provide a second key Second-our one key failed, we had to walk up and down twice to get help. Ultimately, she had to let us into our room with her master key and told us that we had ‘no right to complain’
3.5
Location next to the river and a short walk to the centre of town.
Cramped rooms, old small uncomfortable beds with clapped out mattress.
Superficially clean but generally quite grubby.
Breakfast was extraordinarily mediocre.
3.5
Privacy, soundproof rooms, wonderful location, clean and comfortable room with an armchair! Lovely conservatory.....
The continental breakfast exceeded my expectations - but there could have been hard boiled eggs in addition to the fresh and copious food options. That is, some non-meat or milk (cheese) protein.
3.5
Good location in Cambridge, got there own carpark which is reasonably priced. The room rate couldn't be beaten
Hotel décor very tatty, lots and lots of stairs. Breakfast not great very DIY, but for the price paid no complaints really.

The location of the hotel was pretty decent, not too far from the city center. The room itself was also okay, and the staff were polite enough.
The walls are paper thin at the hotel - I could clearly hear my neighbors having conversations or watching films/TV shows. The pipes in the walls also made a substantial amount of noise when someone showered (I think), which made it difficult to fall asleep at night. There were no tissues around anywhere in the room, which was also annoying. There was no iron in the room, and they had a special, designated room for ironing - which had an iron that had already been partially burned, and also burned my shirt. There was no fridge in the room, which is not that bad, but there was no place to put any kind of food or drink. The hotel lobby also smells of body odor, and I'm not sure why it wasn't aired out. The staff at the hotel were polite enough, but not all that welcoming or friendly. Overall, rather disappointing experience for a hotel that is so expensive compared to other parts of the world.

Very Cozy hotel. close to the putting site and easy to walking around the Cambridge…

The towel and bed sheets were clean. Blackout curtains. The location was convenient for Bridge Street area. Secure parking with barrier… which they charge you for if you don’t book directly with them. £18 until 11am checkout time, then £2.50 per hour after that.
The rooms are tired, bed is uncomfortable and worn. TV is same size as my laptop, carpets need a good clean, faulty wardrobe door hinge, en suite was from the 70s with difficult to operate triangular taps, shower cubicle looked grubby with bits of black mould and staining on the sealant, plastic folding doors didn’t work well, shower head crusted with lime scale, didn’t work well. Noisy through the night with regular dragging of large bins across cobbled stone parking courtyard. I asked for a quiet room but hardly got any uninterrupted sleep due to the bin activity. Staff in Restaurant at breakfast were a combination of sullen and surly, all 3 sitting down in the bar until guests arrive to be seated. Then one clears a table whilst the other two watch him do it. They have no trays to clear the tables quickly, so three of them carry a couple of items each. It was a curious sight, very inefficient way of doing things. No trays in the continental breakfast area either, so if I want to eat in the Conservatory on a lovely sunny morning, I can “carry it myself” (quote), with no help from the serving staff.
3.5
A comfortable older style hotel in very good location with river views and easy walk into town.
The included breakfast was adequate rather than exceptional, though you could pay more for a cooked breakfast
3.5
Room, location, view, quietness, staff, breakfast. We are always very comfortable in this reliable, reasonably priced hotel in an excellent location by the river and just a brisk walk across Jesus Green to the town centre,
nothing

The location was great. Breakfast in the conservatory was really lovely. the staff were very friendly & helpful.
The cost. It was very expensive.

Excellent location. Good breakfast. Very helpful staff

Fantastic location close to everything.
Breakfast was a lovely buffet.
Room spacious.
Staff were attentive.
Checkin was quick.
The hotel is very dated.
3.5
Found couple of pubic hair on top of bed. Bathroom is so outdated we didn't use it he shower as we don't like those glass folded for shower. Taps are very wobbly amd no water bottles. Buffet were too far away amd pump up hot drink as it didn't say what tea or coffee. It will be best to have 2 buffet 1 in convertsary amd 1 in restaurant and 2 ovens to warm.croissants or toast as it was a long queue. Overall we will come back as location is perfect amd reception staff are so lovely. It is too expensive paying £166 per double room with outdated bathroom and top of it we had to pay extra £18 overnight stay for car parking.

location was good and parking available. reception area and main hotel looked lovely
The coach house part of the hotel didn’t have the same feel to it and smelt a bit damp. The room wasn’t particularly clean either
3.5
design of the interior and close distance to city centre
The noisy room doors, was difficult to close door quietly and we disliked that we could hear neighbours behind our wall.
3.5
Location very good. A lovely hotel clean and pleasant staff.
We were in a room in the annex .it was very noisy doors slamming people stomping up and down stairs and you could hear conversations going on in other rooms. Also having to pay £30 just to park the car is a real con.
