The room was spacious, comfortable and warm. All the amenities you could need to hand. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, explaining the history of the hotel and local walks etc.
The breakfast was amazing ... soooo much choice (can highly recommend the fresh baked croissants and full English breakfast). Parking on site and wifi available (though getting reception on your phone may be difficult depending on your network provider).I would definately stay there again on my next visit to the area. Exceltionally good value for money.
Google maps sends you to a house/location past the hotel. Watch out for the flags to make sure you don't have to try and do a u turn to get back to it. Obviously this has nothing to do with the actual hotel but thought I'd share so people avoid missing the entrance.

Room had everything we needed though few small niggles. Breakfast was superb as catered well for gluten free diet.
Room was bit ‘dated’ could do with few bits sorting but nothing major.

Breakfast was excellent: plenty of choice, good service, good quality and quantity.

Everything were amazing - from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and at home. Nothing was too much trouble, rooms were lovely and clean, and the breakfast was super tasty. We had so much fun and ended up talking to staff for hours and sharing a few drinks - highly recommended.
Nothing - all good!

Left too early for breakfast, room was comfortable, great parking, nice receptionist who was helpful as we arrived earlier than the stated check in time and was really pleased with the efficiency.
It was super for an overnighter, it had a bar but no evening meals, we had to go out to find something to eat.

The staff were approachable, friendly and helpful. The hotel provided probably one of the best breakfast spreads I've had at a hotel. The room was basic but met all the needs, and the bed was very comfortable.

Room and bed good size.
Hotel is very tired looking and would benefit from modernisation. Room was far too hot and we had to turn the rads off and open windows to be comfortable. Very dated decor and shower. Although the hotel is dog friendly which is very common nowadays, it was extremely disappointing to have to sit on uncomfortable chairs at tables in a bar area for breakfast, which are not at all suitable for dining at. Being segregated from the restaurant area was uncomfortable and unsuitable. Either be dog friendly and allow dogs in the breakfast area like any dog friendly hotel or pub accommodation, or not at all. This hotel has great potential and is in a prime location but in desperate need of modernisation or I feel it will sadly decay and disappear like the beloved Bluebell Inn down the road. Having said that the staff were lovely and very welcoming and the service was very good.

The staff, Kev was amazing, the breakfast was very nice too
My room, the single bed needs replacing very unsteady. My room toilet didn’t flush correctly and the room was full of red ladybirds and black ladybirds. Made me feel like the room was not cleaned correctly.

The rooms are dated and in desperate need of refurbishment. Bed comfortable.

I absolutely love the location of this hotel. I am a frequent visitor to the Peak District and Newton House is an ideal base for many walks. The staff are friendly, breakfast was absolutely super and the hotel is dog friendly - I stayed here with my collie a couple of years ago. If you enjoy walking in the Peak District then Newton House is a good option for you.
Derbyshire weather - but I cannot blame Newton House for that!

The place was freezing!! Was told the heating didnt come on for another half an hour.
Was so cold after a windy, rainy hike it would have been nice to snuggle up in a lovely warm room.
