Nestled at the edge of the Redwood forest with a view of the ocean through the trees, you'll enjoy a peaceful rest in the heart of The Sea Ranch. The home has kept its character intact, with original redwood finishes and efficient cabin layout. Spend your morning sipping coffee, gazing at the blue-water ocean view and listening to the forest come alive. Start with an early morning hot tub or breakfast on the deck. Cabin 55 features a full kitchen with a dishwasher and outdoor propane grill custom outfitted for those who love to cook. The hot tub on the deck is made for two. High-speed Wi-Fi provided allows you to stream your favorite shows and movies on your laptop or the 42” Smart TV. This is the perfect place for a couple to kick back and enjoy all that The Sea Ranch, the coastal mountains and the Northern California coast have to offer. The Walk-In Cabin neighborhood is so quiet and private it only takes moments to realize all you can hear is the ocean, the wind in the redwoods, songbirds and an occasional turkey.
The Walk-In Cabins sit close to hiking trails, the Ohlsen Recreation Center, Stengel Beach, and The Sea Ranch Golf Links, but are private and serenely scattered in the Redwoods. Truly the epitome of “Living with the Land'. More outdoor and cultural activities can be found south and north of The Sea Ranch along the coast, such as the Arena Theater, the B Bryan Wildlife Preserve, Fort Ross State Historic Park, and Point Arena Light House. Gualala offers groceries, art galleries, and restaurants. With over 50 miles of trails, guests can hike deep into the redwoods, out along the bluff overlooking the ocean, or picnic at the hot spot on the Gualala River. Enjoy a round of golf at the Scottish style, 18-hole course, or a tennis match at one of six courts. For families with children, the Children’s Environmental Play Park offers a wide range of activities. With access to all three shared recreation centers, you can relax in the pools, use the saunas, play basketball, pickleball or volleyball. Guests with a dog will want to check out the dog park on Deerfield Rd. It has a large fenced-in area covered in wood chips, with plenty of toys, water, and shade to share a wild run and romp! Mind the 6’ leash law elsewhere on the Ranch. You’re sure to meet many friendly local dog owners!

For our 3-day retreat, we wanted something in a quiet location, surrounded by trees, but not be too far from the ocean lest we get creeped out at night, and this cabin really fulfilled that wish. It was in a great location from Gualala, where we could pick up necessities, but it also has a really well-stocked kitchen with equipment (pots, pans, utensils, cooking tools, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, etc.), even bowls and an eating area for our dog, and everything was well-labeled. We were pleasantly surprised to find baking ingredients, and if we had stayed a bit longer, we would have loved to take advantage. We did use the grill, which worked great, the parking and trash situation was totally fine, there wasn't much trouble with loading and unloading. The bed was very comfortable, the skylight was lovely, the bathroom had all the needed amenities including a hair dryer, the cleaning pantry was stocked well so we could keep things tidy, the fireplace was so cozy, and the hot water came fast. All in all, we couldn't ask for more. I hope we will be back soon to enjoy this architecturally beautiful, well-designed cabin, and cozy space, and continue to explore the lovely Sea Ranch area and everything it has to offer for its community and visitors.

Cabin 55 was clean and very comfortable, with a nice slice of pacific view and fantastic setting. The ‘walk in’ cabins at Sea Ranch are unique in design and location; literally in a beautiful redwood forest! These cabins and Sea Ranch never disappoint!

The cabin is so cozy and perfect for a couple or a family with 2 children. The skylight over the master bed is incredible because through it you can see the stars at night and the pine tree tops in the day. The recreation centers are great! We went lap swimming in the pool at Del Mar and really enjoyed our swim in the warm water. Our whole experience was absolutely perfect!

We very much enjoyed our stay at cabin 55! This was our first time in Sea Ranch and were taken away by the landscape. The house is nestled into the woods (not on the ocean side, but very close) and accommodated the two of us very well. The house was clean, apart from some dirty dishes (which we noticed a previous review had mentioned as well). The only call out is that the home we stayed in appeared slightly different than the images shown. The kitchen was blue, not green, and the layout of the house/some of the furniture was different. Unclear if the photos had just been taken a while ago and updates had been made, or if it was another property altogether. Regardless, we very much enjoyed and recommend this stay if you’re a small group looking to stay in the heart of SR!

I love Cabin 55 and have stayed there multiple times in the last 5 years. It's nicely furnished with a well-stocked kitchen, and tons of big windows and skylights with views onto the surrounding trees (and, from one side, a view of the ocean).
Two things I noticed on this stay vs. past stays at Cabin 55: 1.) the bed is no longer as comfortable. (It looks like the mattress pad is gone?) 2.) The motor on the hot tub was running almost constantly, and was VERY loud--maybe not something that would be noticeable in the city, but quite noticeable in the forest, especially at night. There were no instructions for turning off or adjusting the hot tub (which we actually never even used), and I don't recall this from past visits--maybe the temperature isn't usually turned up so high? The jets were not running; this seemed like the heater and/or filter.

Historic charm and comfort
This historic walk-in Sea Ranch cabin provided just the respite we so needed from a rushed urban life. The beauty of the redwoods and the secluded surroundings were just what we needed to calm down and recharge. The cabin is thoughtfully appointed to preserve the rustic elegance and historic charm. We hope to return for a longer visit!

The cabin was located in the redwoods, away from the strong winds. While there was a limited distant sea view, we were in the quiet woods and not exposed to the heavy winds (we were there last week of April 2022). The kitchen is well-appointed with dishes, utensils, pots and pans, and there is a dishwasher too. However, I spent about 4 hours SCRUBBING all the dishes, utensils and pots and pans that I planned to use because there were dried bits of food on everything and very visible fingerprints on the dishes and glassware. There were plenty more that also needed scrubbing, but I was not about to do that on my vacation. I am not a clean freak, but this was on the disgusting side. I informed management of this, and few other issues that we encountered and hopefully all will be rectified before you rent.
It was great to have a king bed, but the mattress is VERY firm. The 2 bunk bed mattresses are firm too. If you don't like or find firm mattresses conducive to your comfort, don't rent this cabin. That being said, they provided plenty of pillows and blankets to one's liking. This is also a pet-friendly unit and our little dog just loved the place.
Be aware that the wood steps up to the sleeping loft are very slick. If you are not very sure of your balance, I would recommend renting a different place.
The bathroom was clean, water for the shower hot and well-supplied with toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, soap and even a tick remover, which, thankfully, we did not need to use despite all the hiking we did while we were there. There was also a towel warmer, which was a pleasant surprise.
The best bonus of renting in Sea Ranch is that you get access to the locals' hiking trails and their parking lots as well as access to their community centers that have gyms, a sauna and pool (you have to make a reservation, first).
We will rent in Sea Ranch again, as we had such a fabulous time. Hopefully the issues we raised with Vacasa will be not only corrected for this particular place, but across all the properties they manage.

Comfortably elegant and serene
I love the elegant simplicity of this cabin - the warmth of wood, the serenity, the setting in a grove of redwoods. Comfortable even on cold, rainy days; beautiful views into the woods and a sliver of the Pacific. Magnificent view upwards through the skylights to redwoods above.

EVERYTHING! This is my second stay here and as soon as I got home, I booked it again for next year. Perfect location, stocked well and overall vibe is outstanding. If the owner ever wants to sell, I'd be extremely interested in buying!

Walk In Cabin in the Redwoods
Super cool design by architect Obie Bowman. Whats great about this cabin is that it is very close to original in finishes and layout. Some of these walk in cabins have been altered over the years which takes away from the original intent. I love the original kitchen, bath and most especially the Douglas fir plywood walls. Some of these cabins have had new siding installed inside or plaster ceilings added or the sleeping loft balcony has been made solid vs the original that has open railing like this one. I also like the cork floor which was not original to the design but works very well here. A gem for sure!

Rustic retreat
What a perfect little gem at the Sea Ranch! Best of both worlds - accessible to trails and the sunny, wild, windy ocean bluffs, but nestled among the serenity of second- and third-generation redwoods with native understory, this 567 sq.ft. cabin was built in 1972 and preserves the historical integrity of Sea Ranch’s visionary values. As a truncated cube, it offers an intriguing expression of vernacular modernism. The walls (interior all plywood) and floors (cork throughout), as well as the mid-century modern style furniture echo these ideals. Exceptionally well-equipped kitchen; space is very comfortable for a couple.

Is it for sale? :)
It couldn’t have been more perfect. Exactly as described and with just an overwhelming sense of coziness and comfort. Great location and had all the amenities. The dogs would have even been ecstatic! I’d rent over and over again, but would prefer to buy it! It’s that cute and made for a most wonderful and memorable visit. I’ll be back!

Historic cabin!
Lovely loft-style cabin in I’m assuming newer growth redwoods a little above Highway 1. Seems to have been built as one of the early Sea Ranch features in 1972–and blends extremely organically into the environment with nice spacing with the rest of the development. Perfect retreat from the mad world around us, with lovely October air. Very drive (or walk down the hill) to cross the highway for access to the bluffs and beaches, plus a network of trails in the woods above the cluster of similar homes. A fabulous retreat for getting away, and doing a little, but not too much. Would love to stay here again.

Perfect Cabin in the Redwoods
Cozy cabin with everything you need nestled in the redwoods. Loved hiking along the stunning coast almost as much as returning home to a soak in the hot tub. Expertly appointed with a full kitchen, reading nooks and extra blankets. Can't wait to return.

Cozy and well-equipped
Loved our week-long stay here! The kitchen had all of the gadgets we needed and there were some spices and other ingredients at our disposal. The BBQ and hot tub were clean though the jets in the tub didn't work. Everything was clean and tidy with thoughtful decor, but perhaps a sofa or loveseat in the living room would've been nice. That said we would definitely stay again!

Lovely piece of history!
Loved staying in the hike-in cabin-- old Sea Ranch charm but with all of the amenities. Clean, easy, beautiful, and restorative! My only dislike was finding the local office for a parking pass, it was several miles out of the way and was a bit scary to access behind a strip mall late in the evening. With the cabin being all set up, including a running fire, when I arrived-- I think it could be possible that the parking passes be inside the property upon arrival. Thank you!

Amazing stay!
I surprised my bf with a trip here to Sea Ranch, CA and it was absolutely amazing. The place was perfect for us and our dog. Amazing views with such a peaceful environment. The place was super clean and they didn't require extensive clean-up, which is always great. Definitely want to come back!
