A lovely house between Orosi and Paraiso, overlooking the Orosi Valley. Not far outside Paraiso--Waze took us right there. The house is beautiful and comfortable and very well appointed and supplied. The owner is only onsite part of the time, but is promptly available via WhatsApp. Her onsite assistant doesn't speak English, but we did fine with a little bit of Spanish and WhatsApp with the owner who speaks excellent English. We want to return to Casa Bartzis on a future trip--it's a winner!

We stayed for six weeks in this beautiful mountainside property. It was exactly what we wanted - restful and relaxing. The property is at the top of a steep hill and is somewhat isolated so a car is required. We did not intend to travel around very much and were happy to take up Vera's offer to rent their car now and again. It worked very well for us.
Vera and Georges were in residence at their house during our stay; they are wonderfully kind and friendly. We enjoyed getting to know them. The people who work at the farm are charming. Osso, the dog, is a delight.
The house is very well equipped and comfortable; the Wi-Fi was excellent.
The gardens are gorgeous; it was a real pleasure to sit outside in such beautiful surroundings.

My son and I had a great experience at this lovely casa. Location has spectacular views!! Close to Cartago (much easier to navigate and get around than San Jose). Basilica and ruins worth checking out. Lankester Gardens, Irazu volcano, town of Orosi all close by. We enjoyed the “swimming hole” listed in guide provided by owner.
House itself is beautiful. Would work well for our family of four in future.
Staff is lovely and made everything easy and comfy. Mari brought fresh baking to us on our arrival night. So sweet, and while language was limited on both ends we felt a warm hospitality from her. Definitely order the breakfast for a treat the first day :)

Great house, beautiful place
We enjoyed 2 days here. House was clean, had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed exploring Orosi, the Irazu volcano and Hacienda Orosi thermal pools and farm. House is in a family owned coffee plantation farm with amazing views and gardens all around. We do not speak much Spanish so had a little difficulty understanding all the check in info. There is a helpful notebook that we found on bookshelf near TV stand that included the house info. We stumbled across this as we were checking out their books on Costa Rica. Would be helpful to leave this out on the counter for guests at time of arrival. Wasn’t clear to us how the house alarm system worked so some additional directions on this would help too. The roof makes many noises at night and found my white noise app on my phone to help me sleep and drown out the sounds.
We enjoyed our quick stay there after we had spent the first half of our trip in the hot southern beaches of Costa Rica in a small town called Punta Banco. The cooler climate here was refreshing . We will certainly consider going back to this house again in the future. We had no trouble finding the house and Waze maps worked fine. 4 wheel drive is recommended, it was about a 45 min drive from main airport in San Jose.

Lovely home
We enjoyed our visit in this beautiful place The house was wonderful and everything was excellent. There are lots of windows with breathtaking views of the mountains. The caretakers landscaped the yard with many flowering plants. We had delicious breakfast served to up two days and it was sit up on our deck The owners and caretakers where very friendly and helpful. It was a lovely place to stay.

A stunning way to wake up in such a gorgeous country!
We absolutely loved this property. This was our first visit to Costa Rica, and we wanted an authentic trip. Waking up in the clouds, with the birds singing was beyond relaxing. The host was very communicative, and accommodating. The roads there are a bit sketchy, but our rental was fully able to handle it even in the rain. We would definetly stay there again.

Amazing stay!
The location was ideal. Beautiful views. Close to many points of interest to visit: the botanical gardens, hot springs, the church ruins of Ujarras, the 300 year old Church of Orosi. Restaurants and stores in the nearby towns. The house itself was AMAZING! Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Great hostess and staff. Wish we could've stayed longer!

Cloud paradise
This was a very nice property in cloud region of Costa Rica. The location and house were beautiful. Close to Cartago for food and services but the casa was isolated. And the dog was friendly. A couple of treats and he was my buddy. Only a 20 minute bdrive to café Cristina, a must for coffee lovers

In heaven above Orosi
This property and this experience exceeded our expectations. This is a perfect home which feels and looks like new overlooking the stunning jungle valley. It had everything you need and more. We loved eating outsider in the large covered patio area enjoying the view.
Hilda the on site manager and her dogs visited us daily to check in on us.
We spent an afternoon hiking thru the lovely dense jungle paths of Tappani National park to enjoy waterfalls, a beautiful river and one of the wettest most diverse jungle areas in the country. Another day we just enjoyed the fresh cool morning air and in the afternoon lounged in second floor lounge area soaking in environment while the wash was drying on the line in the breeze.
Was a very comfortable home, environment and area to experience.

What a beautiful house and view. Everyone was so nice. A little difficult to get to, but worth the journey. We had bald tires on our rental car. Vera upgraded us to a brand new gorgeous house. Thank you for your hospitality.

A Lovely Stay
We had an excellent time. We were looking for a beautiful and quiet place and this was perfect. It was beautiful and the house was clean and wonderful. The views are incredible and the staff around were kind and helpful. Very easy to communicate with the owner for any questions or concerns.

Lovely place surrounded by nature
Coming from the streets of a small city you drive over a bumpy road and then you finally see the gate to the property.
When you enter you see the house on the left and yes, it looks like on the pictures - it is lovely and it fulfils every need for the stay. From the terrasse, you can walk a dirt track down the where you find bananas, nice flowers, busy ants building their nests below the surface and colibris.
Also, you can go down to the river and enjoy the unique landscape with all kind of trees, dragonfly and other animals. There is a waterfall nearby, but we found out to late :)
The owner and the people how take care of the property are really nice and we felt welcome at all time.
We can really recommend staying here and enjoy the mountains of Costa Rica

The property was incredibly beautiful , the house was very comfortable & well appointed . Everything was as described . The owner was quick to respond to all my correspondence. The caretakers on the property were very friendly . We loved the area , so isolated & private , yet only minutes to the town & shopping .. would love to visit again & would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful area to sit on the Beautuful porch & watch nature ..yet able to get to everything in a few minutes ...

Pretty place, off beaten track
This is a pretty spot, not so easy to get to from the south. Very peaceful! And amazing that it is so close to the metropolitan area. If you are looking to do not much more than sit in the comfy rocking chair on the wide deck, listen to the birds and enjoy the view, this is your place. All the pets are friendly, and Ana Maria made us some piping hot empenadas. We drove to Orosi town for groceries, and drove around Cachi lake. Also took in the nearby Lakester Orchid Garden--remarkable! The house has high ceilings, and a nice, spacious kitchen. Beds are a different format--twin beds downstairs, twin beds pushed together upstairs. One bath, downstairs. We loved it as a place to recover from our climb up Chirripó.

Beautiful views, well appointed home
Villa Bartzis is in a beautiful spot with great views over the Orosi Valley and yet very close to Cartago. The photos give you a good feel for the place. The kitchen is well equipped. The Wi-Fi isn't really strong; it's OK for email but you couldn't watch Netflix on it. We had a great week there. The owner, Vera, was very accommodating and friendly. Anna-Maria, who takes care of the place, twice brought us baked goods and papaya for our breakfasts and even folded our laundry for us one day when we were out and it looked like rain. There were lots of things to explore in the area and we had some lovely walks among the coffee bushes and enjoyed saying hi to the horses. My favourite thing was doing yoga on the porch in the mornings looking out over that beautiful valley and watching the hummingbird working the nearby shrubs.

The setting is breathtaking.
Despite a misunderstanding with WAZE that involved a hair raising struggle up a steep,rocky track with deep ruts, we were thrilled to arrive in a spot of paradise and be greeted by Vera and her team. They were perfect. Helpful, friendly and never intrusive, so we felt relaxed and at home. Vera, the owner, speaks excellent English and her team were very patient with our attempts at Spanish.
The house has everything you need but we were glad to have it all to ourselves. It's design is totally open plan with the only indoor door being the one on the bathroom, so the bedrooms are not insulated from any noise in the living area.
The Orosi valley and Lake Cachi are incredibly beautiful and so close by. We went out every day to explore but came home well before dark to simply enjoy the house, the terrace and the amazing view beyond the lovely garden.

Truly is a treasure!
We stayed at Casa Baritzs for five days with our 2 kids (2 and 4 years old) and there’s no word to express the wellness we felt, the beautiful it is! The view of the Orosi Valley is so impressive, and for our third time in Costa Rica, we got to discover a new area (Orosi Valley, Tapantí, Irazú) where not only the landscape is breathtaking, but the people are amazingly nice and friendly.
We did not have the chance to meet Vera but she was very quick at answering every time we asked a question and arranged everything so Felipe and Ana María, who take care of the house and finca, would welcome and help us.
The farm is a trip in itself, it’ s really worth discovering it. The kids enjoyed playing outside during the warm days and really nice and cool mornings and evenings, and visiting the horses of course (Felipe was so nice to have the kids sit on one of them and help him feed them, thanks so much Felipe!).
The house is modern and perfect. So clean and cozy! Everything you might need is there. As for us, we cooked at the house every day, the kitchen is well equipped.

Paradise
What a quiet relaxing cozy home this was. Vera's home on the family coffee farm was beyond our expectations. We felt so at home. The well maintained gardens and farm with glorious views and sounds of all the birds made us fell like we were in paradise. We wandered along the farm paths and met the farm workers, everyone was so friendly.
Highly recommend this home to anyone travelling this part of Costa Rica.

Gorgeous, quiet, charming retreat
The view of the Orosi valley was even more beautiful than what we expected from the photos. Ana Maria and Felipe were so hospitable to us--Ana Maria even brought us empanadas one morning and fresh fruit another morning. The house is exactly as the photos show: spacious, clean, and comfortable. Vera was easy to reach and provided great suggestions for our time there. Vera's place is off the beaten path, offering peace and serenity. We loved our stay here and hope to return soon!

Very nice little home
The house is quietely located in the countryside with view on the nearby hills and forests. The house is modern, well equipped and is interestingly designed. The garden is very well kept. The house may be difficult to find, so it is best to have a GPS, but local people are very helpful. The owner was not present during our stay but we had a pleasant exchange by e-mail during our stay, in particular she gave us instructions for things to see and do. The person in charge of the cleaning was very nice to us as well. For bird watchers the place (and its surroundings, for instance down near the river) is nice as you may see a number of species which are otherwise difficult to observe in the tropical forest (where you may hear birds but seldom observe them in good conditions).

This home was perfect for a quick stay to just get into the local Costa Rica. I for one am not the person to be outside the beach zone and found this home peaceful and the owner extremely helpful when our language barrier cause a few issues:) It was clean and accommodating and gorgeous views! Just amazing
So we stayed at this home for 10 days. Before we went the reviews all kept talking about the view is had and let me tell you it is beyond beautiful. It feels like a movie scene that's almost unrealistic. Felipe and Dona Ana were beyond amazing to us. The house itself is very large so don't let the pictures fool you. Would recommend this place to anyone and when we go back we will be staying there again.

I would return just to see the natural beauty.
You can not find a better view. The pictures do not do the property justice. Casa Bartziz is very modern and comfortable. Ana Marie and Felipe are very warm and helpful. Vera will quickly respond to any issues. There is a history to this farm of magnificent views. Dr. Oscar Echandi is a local treasure who has contributed much to his people and a very smart, friendly gentleman. I hope to return again.

Nice property for a calm staying
I rented to spend a weekend with my parents near the nature. Weather was excellent and the property is beautiful indeed. It's bigger than what you can see in the pictures. Fully equipped. Cable and internet very basic though.
It has everything to feel as we were at home. My parents loved it.
