We are an older couple who stayed for 7 weeks. This is a beautiful home with every amenity. We loved sitting on the balcony enjoying the view. You have 3 decks to choose from. Lubec is an adorable small town which is just across the bridge from Canada. There are hiking trails everywhere and the town is very dog friendly. We spent many days traveling around Canada via the ferry system and going to all the local festivals, museums and restaurants. Most of them involve a drive of at least 45 minutes each way. The scenery is breathtaking. Every evening we would have cocktails watching the sunset and the tide changes. The tidal differences were stunning. We loved watching all the different birds and ducks. Saw a large variety of birds including a bald eagle. You will love it.

Have stayed with our family multiple times at this location and it has resulted in wonderful vacation memories every time. Comfortable house, gorgeous views!

A great deck to watch fireworks on the horizon in Eastport. The screen doors on both sides of the house allowed for a pleasant, cool breeze. A very quiet location...the only thing you will hear is the birds. If you want peace, quiet, solitude, and beachcombing...this is the place.

This property was beyond gorgeous. Comfortable, clean, bright and modern. The location couldn't have been more perfect

The house had an amazing view! It was private, quiet, comfortable and clean. We had plenty of room and enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the water. Plenty of things to do for outdoor enthusiasts. It is close to West Quoddy Head State Park which is an amazing hiking area to visit with an iconic lighthouse. Lubec is a quiet, small-town, but offers some great places to dine out if you don't feel like cooking. If you have your passport, you can drive to nearby Campobello Island and tour President FDR's summer "cottage." This a great area to escape tourist congestion and simply chill.

Property was better than described. Spacious and clean with great views . A good location to many lighthouses, towns, and restaurants.Plus, amazing trails within walking distance of property.

When we arrived the bedrooms in the basement area had several bugs on the floor and a few in the bed . When I walked through the house when we arrived there were many spider webs that I walked through . I had to clean the floor and change the sheets (my daughter wouldn’t sleep in the room ) not happy .

Wonderful week with an absolutely breathtaking views. Clean, comfortable and quiet. I plan on staying here on my next visit.

Our group of 4 adults found this house to be a very comfortable base for a week of exploring, visiting Campobello, hiking, and eating seafood. Even with a couple of rainy days, we found plenty to do, including playing duets on the fine piano in the house. There is plenty of comfortable seating, light, and never-ending views. The stairs down to the shore are not for the weak, and on our first day, the shore was swarming with mosquitoes. Heavy winds took care of the mosquitoes later in the week.
Our only complaint was that the lowest level of rooms is kind of musty and damp, leaving a sour smell in the bathroom. There is a large de-humidifying system but it couldn't completely take away the dampness during a rainy week.

This was our second time staying here - this time for two weeks, which was just wonderful. As soon as we walked in the door, it felt like we had come home. This is a very bright, spacious, comfortable, clean home with amazing views of Johnson Bay, Rodgers Island, Eastport, and some of Cambobello island. Lubec is a quiet little fishing village so there is certainly less to do here than, say, Bar Harbor. But, there is still plenty to do, depending on what you like. The town itself has places to go for coffee, lunch, and dinner and it also has some fun shops. This is not a tourist town which, to me, is exactly its appeal. West Quoddy lighthouse and trails, Campobello, Machias, and Eastport are some of the great places to explore. The natural beauty that surrounds you in this home is amazing, and the quiet and peacefulness is what keeps us coming back.

This was our second time staying here, and we were right to come back. Clean house, lots of space, beautiful and quiet location. The decks are wonderful and the access to the shoreline is so special. We came to write, reflect, hike, swim (water is very cold, but short swims work) and rest, and Andy’s place is perfect for this.
We live in a small city and have to travel to see this many stars at night, right down to the horizon. We’ve had many rentals in Lubec. This one tops the list.

We had a lovely time in this beautiful home. The house is clean, spacious, and well-equipped. We grilled almost every evening on the deck and enjoyed walking along the water below. Lubec is quiet and low-key with a number of breathtaking hikes nearby. Andy was friendly and easy to communicate with and the check-in/out process was seamless.

A Great Escape
Unlike a previous reviewer, we heard no construction noise the entire time we were staying here during the middle of July. In fact, there weren’t even any cars passing by on the road for most of the week. It felt as though we were off in our own little world.
It was so quiet that we really noticed the bird songs, from the thrushes first thing in the morning to the loons at the end of the day. At any given time, the soundscape was composed of some combination of gulls, crows, kingfisher, catbirds, song sparrows, nuthatches, goldfinches, parula and yellow-throat warblers, chickadees, robins, mourning doves, flickers, and probably many I missed.
This house is positioned for maximum reception of the outside natural world, with three decks from which to take in the amazing bayscape out back, and tall windows on all sides providing views in every direction and constant air flow through the house. The first reaction when you enter the house and then open the door out to the deck is something like “Oh my!” and then the thought “This is all mine for the next seven days.”
This would make a great retreat for writing, artwork, or thinking, and the third floor has a big open space perfect for a yoga practice. But it’s also a good place just to give yourself permission to be lazy, lolling around on the deck, watching the movements of clouds and birds and the tide inching in and out.
We typically spent our mornings exploring the wealth of nature preserves in the area — properties that are part of the Cobscook Shores and Downeast Coastal Conservancy systems, as well as Quoddy Head State Park and Hamilton Cove. Two areas — Klondike Mountain and Black Duck Creek — are within walking distance of the house.
The kitchen was well equipped. The grocery store in town — an IGA — has most anything one might need, but bring more exotic ingredients from town. Restaurants are limited.
An excellent place for anyone who needs peace and quiet.

Maine Relaxation
Great property, unfortunately not as quiet as what it could have been. Surrounding property sites apparently recently purchased and now being developed, dirt road to site rutted, dusty and construction noise most of daylight hours.

Lovely as expected!
This was my family’s second time staying here, and it was every bit as enjoyable as the first time. Andrew’s house is beautifully decorated, it was very clean upon arrival, and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The only bad part was that we had to leave. I can’t wait to return!

Lovely house, lovely location
My family of 5 had a most wonderful time here. The house was very clean upon arrival and had absolutely everything needed for a comfortable stay. The house is tastefully decorated, and the decks on each floor, in addition to all the windows facing the bay, provide beautiful views across the bay. We enjoyed a lot of hiking in the Lubec/Bold Coast area each day, as well as simply exploring the beach area below the house. The host Andrew was a pleasure to communicate with as we planned our stay, check-in information was excellent, and aside from being sad when we had to pack up and leave - our time here was perfect and definitely a place we'd love to stay at again. Thank you to Andrew for sharing this very special home!

Extraordinary Experience
What a wonderful two weeks at this beautiful house set high on a hill overlooking Johnson Bay in Lubec Maine. This house has three outdoor decks, the top with the best view every morning of the sunrise, and unbelievable stargazing oppprtunities. The main floor of the house is surrounded by windows and is bright and sunny and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was well stocked and ready to prepare great meals. October was not the best time for restaurant options so having the kitchen was fun. A couple could live easily on this floor alone, but the third floor offered a great room and access to that top deck, in addition to extra sleeping options. And the lower level was like a separate apartment with two more bedrooms a full bath and laundry room, as well as the screened in third deck that would have been useful in the summer….very few bugs in October!! The cottage is set in the Cobscook Shores region and opportunities abound for hiking adventures….Reversing Falls, and Hamilton shores and the close by Visitors Center are not to be missed! After a day out walking and hiking, the cottage offered a jetted tub on the lower level and a deep soak tub on the main floor….we just loved the whole experience!! Andy, the owner was great to converse with, helpful and always quick to respond before and after we were there. We got to meet and talk with Patsy the housekeeper and she was wonderful as well. It felt like we were renting from friends, especially when we learned that Andy, Randy, and I shared the love of a particular NFL team that will go unmentioned😂😂The NFL Sunday ticket on Direct TV was an unexpected and great surprise. Check out the outdoor beer garden in downtown, great beer and nice people. Fall was beautiful, restful, and restorative but it would have been fun to stay in the summer when more things were open!! Thanks Andy for sharing your home and Thanks Patsy for taking such good care of it❤️❤️

Beautiful view, creature comforts
Words don't do justice to the view, whether on a sunny summer day or in the midst of the remnants of a hurricane! If you can pull yourself away from that view, it's close to great hikes and opportunities for exploration. The house is cozy, comfy, and well equipped, great for a relaxed vacation. And the host is very responsive and helpful -- thanks, Andy, for sharing this special place with us!

Heaven on earth
I have stayed in several different properties on vacations and this one was by and far the best! Beautiful home with even more beautiful views! Plenty of space for all of us to have privacy. Felt like you were in the middle of nowhere on the private road but could be at the shops in just a few minutes. We spent a lot of time on the deck watching the boats go by on the water. One of the most relaxing vacations I’ve been on and was just what I wanted. I would definitely stay here again next time and would recommend to anyone looking for a place to vacation in Lubec!

Beautiful Birch Point Getaway
Our stay at the Birch Point House was everything we hoped for, and then some. We were looking for a quiet Lubec retreat before the start of another busy school year, a place where we could write, hike, swim (very cold water, but very invigorating and therapeutic). Our time at Birch Point House was perfect. There were only two of us, so practically speaking, the house was more space than we needed. We stayed on the main floor. It was clean and comfortable. We found everything we needed. The decks were fantastic. We didn’t need the screened-in one because the bugs were not a big issue, but it’s great that it’s there if needed. The piano was lovely. Views are amazing. We’ve been to Lubec many times, in many wonderful spots. Birch Point House is a new favorite.

Excellent location, enjoyed our stay
The view was spectacular, the location is superb, the house is easy to navigate and BIG, plus we enjoyed walking the shoreline as the never ending tides changed over the ours. Lubec is quaint, we hope and pray their economy improves, as the people are so nice and the history is so interesting. This place is getaway perfect and convenient to Canada, whenever is opens back up.

Overall a great trip
Overall, I would recommend this home in Lubec. The views are indeed beautiful. We arrived very late at night, so we didn’t see the view until we woke up the next morning. I think every one in our 8 member family said, “Wow!” when they got up that morning.
We had a wonderful week exploring the quieter part of downeast Maine. We took several coastal hikes including Quoddy Head, Boot Head, and Hamilton Cove. It is truly a stunning part of the country. We loved picking wild blueberries as we walked along the trails. It is a stunning and soul-filling place.
There were a few things about the house itself that could be improved. First, I’d rate the cleanliness of the main floor around a 4 out of 5. The top and bottom floors, however, were not as clean, probably 2.5/5. Downstairs is quite damp and there is a musty/mildewy smell. There are also a lot of bugs downstairs-spiders, crickets, and big, black ants. The furniture on the top floor and much of the extra bedding was covered in pet hair. I wasn’t expecting that much hair in this home since what I read in the listing said, “pets considered.”
Also, the kitchen could be a little better equipped. I had a hard time cooking a meal for 8 people with the equipment provided (dull knives & only glass cutting boards, no pizza cutter, only a small skillet). We managed, but it was a challenge. In that same vein, there is only dining seating for 6, which meant my husband and I stood at the counter for many meals. When the weather was dry enough, we split up the family and part of us ate outside on the deck.
Overall, we had a great stay. None of the issues we encountered warranted a call to the housekeeper. These are just things that I’d like to be aware of when booking a vacation home.
Andy was very helpful and quick to respond when I had questions. He even ordered a new air mattress that we ended up not using.

Family Time
We had a great trip to Lubec, Maine. This was our first trip to Maine so we were not sure what to expect. We did have a great time exploring. The kids loved Quoddy Head State Park and we returned there almost daily to explore and climb on the rocks. The views from the house were great and we also enjoyed skipping rocks at the beach accessed from the house. We did have some trouble finding restaurants open in Lubec. The town closes early and restaurant’s are for the most part only open at the end of the week. We enjoyed buying groceries and bringing them back to the house to grill. The kids loved the loft area at the house. Our Great Dane loved the deck where she could lay and look out at the bay. It was a great family trip.

We all had a great time. The house was large enough so the kids had their own space when needed. The dogs also enjoyed that they had space to roam a little.

The best!
We had a wonderful vacation week at this beautiful home, in this gorgeous place! The house is beautiful, plenty of space, everything you need. The kids loved to explore the shore and wade in the water. There were several places nearby to explore including hikes, beaches, and a cute town. We didn't leave lubec for the entire week! It was a perfect getaway. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
As an aside, nothing to do with the property or owner, we had a terrible experience with a takeout order from the fisherman's wharf restaurant in lubec and would not recommend going there.

We truly loved every moment spent at this magical place and every memory created that will last a lifetime. This is a very special property full of character and with views that can't be beat. Very sechuled, perfectly located on a cliff overlooking the bay. We could just walk down the stairs to our own private beach. All we could hear were the sounds of nature. We had fun just staying at the house but every day we would go out to explore a few trails or the nearby towns. Lubec is a very quaint town full of history and great people. We found it very charming as well as Eastport. My favorite place to visit was Quoddy Head State Park. The Coastal trail is amazing. Hamilton Cove was also very peaceful with meadows that led to the ocean. I hope to come back again some day. I found this trip to be very therapeutic after the crazy year we all experienced. I was so relaxed I even fell asleep on the deck watching the stars. The house had a great floor plan. Three decks. One on each floor. Bedrooms that open right onto the deck. Everyone had their own private space. Couldn't ask for more. Thank you Andy for allowing us into your wonderful home.

A Little Piece of Heaven
This is such a special place, I'm not sure my summary can do it justice but, let's try ... Imagine staying in a place where the only sounds you hear when you walk outside are the birds, the tide going in and out, and the wind rustling through the trees. Then imagine a place where you feel like you are literally at the end of the earth - you can't see another house unless you walk down the dirt road toward the west; across the road, nothing but trees and a cove (south); the other end of the road, just trees and vacant land (east); and the fourth side (north) is a gorgeous huge bay with the most incredible view! And yet, we were only ten minutes from the quaint little village of Lubec. We got exactly what we wanted out of this vacation - solitude, peace and quiet, and relaxation. Even our dog was super relaxed! We went out a few times but, honestly, staying "home" was so pleasant that we did more of that than anything else. The house is not large, but it is spacious and airy with lots of natural light. The beds are comfortable. We had everything we needed to cook all of our meals. We even indulged in a jigsaw puzzle! Besides jigsaw puzzles and games, there is a good selection of books and magazines, many local, or at least having to do with Maine or Canada. And the decks!!! Three of them, all slightly different, and all wonderful! We had one "bad weather" day that was rainy and dark and cold, but the inside of the house was just as bright and cheery as on sunny days. The design of this house is perfect - simple, not fancy, but very cozy and comfortable with its own style of elegance - and not a bit of knotty pine to be found!! Before the end of the week, we both agreed that it would have been great if we could have stayed for a second week. And before we left the house on our final day, we were already talking about finding a way to get back up there again next year. We have stayed in a lot of places all over the world, most very nice, but this place ... so very special ... is honestly the best place we have ever stayed.

Wonderful!
This was our first time back to Lubec after many years away and it was wonderful. The house looks over the bay and offers especially good sunset viewing. We were traveling with our young adult children (18 and 22) and I would recommend this house for people with teens/young adults. The house isn't huge, but it's very well-divided. The upstairs "loft" is more private than the term suggests so our daughter made that hers. Our son picked a downstairs bedroom and had a place to sleep late that was private from everyone else. We slept downstairs too because the main floor bedroom is right off the kitchen and I tend to rise before my husband. Nice to have the option. The pictures are true to life - the house isn't fussy or fancy, but it's clean and comfortable and the decks are amazing. We did a LOT of cooking and the kitchen had plenty of basic equipment. Lubec is isolated with a small grocery store, so we always do our shopping in Machias on the way in, and I bring spices and condiments in cooler from home though there were quite a few spices on hand. Andy and his caretaker were easy to reach for questions and check-in and check-out were easy.

Wow. Incredible Maine stay.
Future vacations may now be spoiled for me because from now on, any time I go some place that has a view, I'll probably be comparing it unfavorably to this place in Lubec.
The house is set off from the main road and other houses, so it felt incredibly secluded and private, and yet it's less than a ten minute drive into town. The wildlife was also fantastic, with bald eagles regularly soaring overhead, a resident porcupine that liked to wander by in the evenings, and seals swimming by in the bay. And Lubec was just the right size for us -- it's a small town and a bit off the beaten path, but with a well-stocked IGA, some good restaurants, a lovely beer garden, and great hiking nearby.
Also, based on the pictures of the property, we'd been prepared for a much longer hike to get down to the water, but it's really not that far at all -- it's much shorter than these images make it look!

The Birch Point house was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the comforts and solitude. We found the location to be somewhat remote. We found touring area attractions required lengthy driving periods.

Beautiful and Quiet Location
The location of this house is wonderful. Quiet location, outstanding views from the decks. Our stay with our kids and dogs couldn't have been more relaxing. Andy was wonderful when there was a minor issue early on, communicating with us constantly until the problem was resolved. Just minutes from downtown Lubec were we watched the harbor seals, and from there explored beautiful Campobello Island in Canada. So much to see for such a rural setting. Eastport is also worth the drive. Betty's Crabmeat in Pembroke was a great place to get some lobsters, great price and friendly service. Just a wonderful place to stay in a great area.
