About this house rental
Come for a relaxing stay at our comfortable 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath home with views of Campobello Island and the Lubec Narrows. It is located by the Roosevelt bridge to Campobello Island and is only a 10 minute walk from Mowry beach and wildlife preserve. From this location you can walk to restaurants and gift shops. We know times are tough right now so we work very hard to provide the best value for your money! You will not find another property as welcoming and well maintained at this price point! We have a very fast response and resolution time if any issue comes up because we care about your family and our team is here to serve you and make sure you have the best stay possible. Our cancellation policy is very relaxed and reasonable because we understand how quickly plans can change these days so we make exceptions for family issues and inclement weather. We have no pet fee, a low cleaning fee of only $100, and a 10% weekly discount. The Seafarer's Retreat has all of the comforts of home and has great views of Campobello Island and the Lubec Narrows. You can sit on the deck and watch the boats come in to town or listen to free music from the park next door. The Seafarers Retreat sleeps up 8 adults comfortably, but we market it for 6 because the living room dining room and kitchen are not extremely large because the house was built in 1883. The bedrooms are all a generous size and all beds have new comfortable mattresses with lots of pillows and extra blankets. All 4 of the bedrooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors so this home will not be a good fit for guest that have difficulty with climbing stairs. Children of all ages and dogs of all sizes are welcome here! There is plenty of room for your family with 4 bedrooms, and 2 and a half bathrooms. There is a bathroom on each floor, so no walking up or down stairs in the middle of the night. The bathrooms do not have a tub only walk in showers, but there is a bathtub for babies in the 3rd story closet. This home is family and pet friendly! You will find a highchair, pack and play, kid sized plates, step stools for tooth brushing, child's toilet seat, a baby gate for the stairs. There is an on-demand generator to weather any storms if you stay during spring or fall months. You can walk or ride our bikes and explore Lubec and Campobello. We highly recommend whale watching tours with Downeast Charters (operating from June to mid-September) and taking the ferry to Eastport (runs Thursday- Sunday) where you will find dining and unique gift shops. Lubec has 4 restaurants, a couple of cool gift shops, a fishing pier, the Fisherman's memorial, an old-style hardware store, and an IGA for groceries and alcohol. The restaurants in this area close earlier than in larger towns, most close between 7 and 8pm, so plan on an early dinner. You will be in town, but it is a quiet and peaceful location and the whole town is very laid back. Lubec is a nature lovers paradise, but there is no night life, it is just a small, historic fishing town. If you want an escape from busy city life this is the place for you. Walk or drive across the bridge to Campobello Island and explore the numerous hiking trails there and have tea and cookies at the Roosevelt summer cottage. Campobello is open to you if you have a passport and now you no longer need proof of vaccination. If you like hiking there are lots of trails in the area, we highly recommend the Quoddy head lighthouse's coast guard trails. From the deck you will enjoy a great view of the Roosevelt bridge, the Narrows, and the huge, 23 foot, rise and fall of the tides. It is a 10-minute walk to Mowry beach which is a sandy public beach where you can find sea glass. You follow a rose lined (roses are blooming in June) path to a sandy beach with a view of Grand Manan Island in the distance. There as a small viewing room on the 4th floor (the Crow's Nest) with windows all around so you can see in all directions. The Retreat has a smart TV with basic cable and 200Mbps high speed internet for streaming and free WIFI. You will find a full kitchen ready for you to prepare a meal. There is a Keurig coffee maker and a variety of k-cups as well as a regular coffee maker. You are our guests, so we make sure you have spices, oil, coffee, creamer, sugar, lots of utensils, and a huge lobster pot! All dogs welcome! No weight limit on your best friend! There are extra personal care items for you such as prepackaged toothbrushes, razors, lotion, etc. just take what you need. Pack some beach combing clothes, hop in your car, and come and relax and recharge at the Seafarers Retreat! No smoking, and please return all TV equipment to its original settings if you make any changes.

Our main destination was Campobello Island. We could not have been any closer and still be in the US!
The house was very clean and comfortable. It was nice having a small park across the street to walk our small dog.
We enjoyed our visit to DownEast Maine and Canada.

We had a great visit to this pretty home! Everything was clean and fresh. The pastel seaside colors set the mood for a relaxing few days. The crow's nest at the top of the house was a great spot for a morning cup of coffee. We appreciated the convenience to Campobello and the easy walk to Lubec restaurants, walking paths and the shore. The collection of maps, menus and pamphlets was very helpful for last-minute first-time visitors to the area.

We visited for 4 days. The home was very clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed and a few extras. The property is a short walk to the small village. We spent some time at Lubec Brewery got pizza at a place that was a 2 minute walk that was very good. We visited Quoddy park and the lighthouse, went on a whale watch. Only saw 3 whales but lots of seals, eagles and porpoises. Also took the boat from cutler to see the puffins I had scheduled that trip back in March. We also went on a few hikes on Cobscook trails which were beautiful
Would stay here again

We had 7 guests here to explore Maine's rugged coast, and to eat up all of the best seafood. This house is a great jump-off spot to gorgeous sunrises, sunsets and lovely hikes.
Though the rooms were small, the beds were very comfortable. The host was extremely responsive and awesome to deal with. đź‘Ź

The house was very clean with lots of amenities. The hosts thought of everything from s’mores ingredients to toiletries to all of the coffee essentials. Location was perfect! The only reason for the four star on the accuracy of description was because there was no hot tub, which was in the description, but everything else was absolutely amazing and exceeded expectations!

Damon’s place was the epitome of a downeast retreat. The location next to the channel between Lubec, Maine and Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada enhanced our experience. Lubec is a quaint little seaside town. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of a busy life, this is the place. Damon’s home easily accommodated my family of seven. There is a bathroom on each of the three floors (major bonus!). It is pet friendly, which we were very grateful for. The views are amazing, especially from the 4th floor lookout. We will most definitely be staying again! Thank you to the Martins for sharing their beautiful home and helping our family make special memories.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful property. We enjoyed all of the amenities and comfort of home. The location is a very short walk to Mowry Beach, restaurants, and shops. Morano's Pizza is steps away and it is delicious. We also went to the Fishermans Wharf for a Downeast lobster feed on the deck which we highly recommend. Campobello Island is just a few minutes across the bridge and there is so much to see and do. We hope to make this a yearly trip!

Fantastic location. Unique home that has charm and character. Plenty of space to unwind and relax. Close to downtown Lubec, the water, and Campobello, NB. There is a lot to like about this house — the deck on the 2nd floor and the crow’s nest on the 4th floor. House was clean and comfortable. Highly recommended!

Property has been recently renovated. Very clean and well equipped. Lots of room, great firepit. Terrific location, walk to downtown restaurants and shops. Immediately adjacent to Campobello bridge. Well equipped kitchen, gas grill, laundry. Lots of windows, even a "widow's walk". Everything worked as it should.

We come to Lubec almost every summer & we are excited we finally found a home that perfectly suits our family! The house was very clean with lots of amenities! My kids loved nightly s’mores at the fire pit! The hosts left a lovely s’mores kit for us & wood for the fire pit. The house was very spacious & we truly loved our stay! The location is great as well! It’s convenient to everything! We will definitely be back next year!

Damon and Jamie were so communicative and supportive of a nice stay for us. The property was very nice, well located, and just lovely. The owners provided nice details like snacks and water for us upon arrival. We couldn't ask for anything better, and in fact, have booked again with them for another property next year! Thank you so much!

A wonderful place to stay within easy walking distance of cool and quirky downtown Lubec. Extremely clean and well laid out, with delightful welcoming snacks. One of the best VRBO rentals out of many that we’ve enjoyed across the country and Canada.

My Wife and I, including our 4 young adult children, and pup, loved our visit to Lubec, staying at Seafarer's Retreat. House was spotless and very convenient to the town, Mowry Beach and Capabello Island. Kitchen was well stocked and bedrooms spacious and comfortable. We hope to visit again and highly recommend trip to Eastport, Herring Cove and FDR cafe for lunch. We will be back!

This is an adorable house conveniently located right near the water and an easy walk to the Main Street in Lubec. It is located right near the bridge to Campobello Island. The home is well furnished, blankets, towels and a well stocked kitchen. Great communication with hosts, incredibly thoughtful and kind. They offered tips on where to grocery shop and eat, offered use of bikes and left a gift basket of items needed to makes s’mores.

After crazy season we were looking for a quiet and comfy place to get away. This place was just that. My only thought about something different for next time (we want to come back) is the come back “in season” as virtually NO restaurants were open in late April.

This is the second time staying in this house for us. Upon entering the house my daughter right away occupied "her" room which is on the 3rd floor. I can't find any fault about this house, it is very spacious, modern, very clean, warm, plenty of hot water, very close to the beach, only a few minutes to the grocery store, the house is stocked with supplies of anything you need. On top of that we have the most friendly and helpful hosts, and the local caretaker is there ready to solve any problem you might have (like, looking to buy some clams from a fisherman at the last minute). I highly recommend this place and we would like to come back again!

This was our second stay … and just as nice as the first!

We had an amazing time here in Lubec staying in this most comfortable house. Caretaker Carla and host Jamie were friendly and helpful. We got clams from a local clammer via arrangement of Cala, we had lobsters from a local market. The house was very clean and warm and all the supplies were provided with thoughtfulness. The beautiful beach is within walking distance from the house which we took our dog for a stroll everyday. It was a magical winter vacation in downeast Maine. Thank you!

This was a great location in town. We loved the ability to sit in the crows nest to enjoy the early morning light, walk down to watch the seals in the narrows, head across the border for some hiking on Campobello Island, and then wrap up the day with a pint at the brewery. The rooms were all spacious, the kitchen had a nice set of pots & pans, and a welcome basket with a few goodies upon arrival.

A great house for a Lubec getaway.

Everything was wonderful - clean, well stocked, dog friendly, beautiful scenery, and the home itself has so much charm and is in a great location. I can't say enough about how happy we were with our stay - definitely a perfect home away from home :)

A great place for a group of friends to have their own room. Owners were very responsive to one "dead" coffee pot and made certain it was replace the same day. We had fun listening to the piano jazz fest from the park sitting on our 2nd floor deck on Sunday afternoon. It was easy walking distance to the beach for glunking.

What a great experience all around! The property is perfectly situated near town and the border patrol for easy access to Lubec and Campobello Island. It's a short ride to everything Lubec has to offer in hiking and sights! Even got some fishing in at the pier in town and chatted with locals who knew my family! I can't say enough good things about the house, owners and housekeeping for such a spectacular time away with our best friend (Dog). Don't forget your passports!

The perfect spot for a low key, relaxing vacation. So completely different from where I live in Wyoming, and the locals are friendly even at the end of what had to be a tourist-weary summer. The house and hosts could not have been better! Great views, comfy furniture...it was just right.

Very nice place and large / roomy. Close to "downtown" Lubec - easy walk to waterfront and next to park. Literally next to bridge to Campobello Island. Outfitted with everything we needed and then some - books, games, some sweet treats, etc. We had a lovely stay. If you're headed to Lubec area, this place is highly recommended.

Super clean property close to everything. The check-in process was very easy though the property manager wasn’t quite ready for us at 4:00 .But we were able to leave a few things and we went for a walk and were all set when we returned. It’s a big house with lots to clean and sometimes you run a little late. Our hosts were very easy to get in touch with and answered our questions immediately.
We spend a lot of time on Campobello Island when we go to Lubec so being next to the bridge was very convenient . We also loved being able to walk to get ice cream or coffee or drinks on Water St.
The house was well appointed with plenty of thoughtful extras and my sons (adults) had a blast with the old-school gaming system!
We walked to the beach everyday and at low tide you can walk forever. We had a memorable week and hope to stay here again!

Amazing Property
My friends and I loved Seafarers Retreat. The house was spotless and well maintained. The location was perfect. It was within walking distance to downtown Lubec , across from a park that is right on the water and right next door to the bridge that connects Lubec with Campobello Island. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare a meal. There is a nice size gas grill. The bedrooms are a good size and the beds comfortable. The owners responded quickly when we contacted them. The property manager lives locally and was friendly, helpful and available to answer questions . I highly recommend this property.

Lovely Property
We completely enjoyed the house. Almost perfect. The only negative is that the 2nd floor “Queen” bed creaks loudly with movement.

Large and fascinating house in a great location
The house was clean and large with everything we needed for our stay. Our son loved all the nooks and crannies (especially the 4th floor). We loved walking to town and down to the beach. There was a small park a few lots away that we went to in the evenings.

Laid Back Little Town
Property was as advertised. Main complaint - the TV service. There is no live TV. No golf, no baseball, no football. I’m a sports watcher so this was a disappointment for me.

Absolutely Wonderful
My little family adored this house and the lovely town of Lubec. The location of the house is perfect. A very easy walk to shops, restaurants and the boat tours one way. If you walk the other way it is a very peaceful walk down to the water. The house was extremely clean and comfortable.

This was the perfect spot to vacation! Right near the water and walking distance to everything!!!
The house was so clean and well arranged! I can’t say this enough…. This vacation spot was perfect.

Beautiful doesn’t do it justice!
Great house, well kept with all the amenities! Would be great for a larger group but we loved having room to spread out. The area is unbelievably incredibly amazingly gorgeous. You can tell the pandemic has taken a big toll on the region - many shops and restaurants closed but still PLENTY to do even on a rainy day. The only disappointment is that the Lubec-Eastport ferry now only runs thurs fri sat, which we didn’t know so we had to spend some extra time in the car. We will definitely be back, ideally during leaf peeping season!
