Onsen and staff greatly appreciated.
The room smelled a little unpleasant at times.

Nice Onsen hotel with clean and comfortable rooms. Not a high end place but definitely worth the money. Dinner and breakfast were being served as buffet and were plentiful and of quite good quality, although it was absolutely the same for 2 consecutive days. That's ok for breakfast but not really satisfying for dinner. As always in Japan there was a very dedicated and friendly staff which is a great plus compared to the treatment one experiences in other countries.
The location is a little far away from city centre and station. From the station it takes about 30 minutes by the charming old-fashioned tramway and a 5 minutes walk from the tram station. A taxi ride takes about 15 minutes and costs roughly 2000 ¥.

The room is very cozy and clean. The onsen experience is superb!
The location is pretty near to the street car station. Pretty accessible. Breakfast variety is vast. The highlight was the "build -your-own-don".

The room, onsen, and food were all outstanding especially the onsen. Located in a residential area so it was very quiet.
Not the greatest view from the room. Far from the train station- had to catch a cab.

The futon in the tatami room was more comfortable than another place we stayed. We were smart to ask for an extra layer though based on the previous hotel experience. The breakfast was good and the room was nice.
I am writing this so that other people don't experience the embarrassment and discomfort that I felt. I had the worse massage I have ever had in my life at this hotel. I always get massages from women in the US and I didn't realize that the only person there was the middle aged gentleman that I made my appointment with at the desk. I should have walked out when I realized that it was going to be him but I thought I would give it a shot because I like to keep the appointments I make. My politeness got the better of me in this situation. He had me keep the robe on that was provided in the room and at first the pressure was good and he did ask to make sure. The language barrier was not too much of an issue. I had asked for an hour massage but about 10 to 15 minutes in I felt increasingly uncomfortable. It felt like he was beating my back. I joked afterwards that when was beating my back like owed somebody money. I did tell him a couple of times that certain spots hurt (like digging his thumb in the base of my skull). It was way too rough of a massage and I felt mildly uncomfortable with him massaging around my behind. The rough pressure was ok on really tough knots and on my calves but overall it was really uncomfortable. It must have been about 20 minutes in and I finally got up the courage to ask for him to cut the massage short to 30 minutes. I did say my politeness would get the better of me. I felt very stupid for not speaking up sooner and I ended up going back to the room and crying, my fiance trying to comfort me. We then looked up what massages in Japan are typically like and it made me a feel a little better to know that other Westerners had experienced this type of rough massage. I have learned my lesson to research before going for a massage in a foreign country and to speak up a lot sooner when something doesn't feel right.

The buffet dinner was very nice. Good variety.
I was staying for 2 nights and asked for housekeeping but they only provide fresh towels. So our futon bed was just left there after a night sleep. This makes it difficult for us to pack our things in the day.

Excellent onsen including open air baths.
Amazing buffet for both dinner and breakfast.
Room temperature very hot, attempts to adjust heating are reset to a default after some amount of time. Required turning heating off and even opening balcony door for brief periods to manage room temperature.
