Villa Allure is a nice hotel/place to stay in Koh Mak. It is located in the north eastern part of the island, quite a distant from the lively areas in between rubber and palm trees. The set up of the resort is nice, the path to the house takes you partly through the forest. You can tell that nature and the house blend well together. The house was clean, spacious, modern/minimalistic and bright. Tones of white, gray and wood mixed together. The toilet was spacious with a shower area next to it. The sink was located in the room. There was a large bed with soft pillows and the aircon worked well. I liked the service that the people provided. On the first night our house short circuited. They tried their best to fix the electricity but to no avail. Staff did some calls and we were offered to stay at a different location. At first I believed that we would stay at someones house, but we were transported to another resort called the Makathanee resort in the south of the island. Renting a scooter is easy, and you really need to do that if you want to see the island. The view of the house was splendid, we got a house that was partially sea and garden view. You can take one of the canoes and canoe a bit around the area.
Regarding the location. It is located in a remote area of the island. You NEED to rent the scooter of the resort if you wish to see the island. When I say remote, I mean really remote. Like you can travel at night (starts at 6pm) and not see anyone as you drive through the pitch black palm and rubber tree forests. The nearest restaurants are around 10 to 20min away by scooter and only a few roads are lit. Lucky the island is not heavily populated so driving around by scooter is really easy as there is barely any traffic.
At a first glance I really liked staying at Villa Allure and it is worth the score it has, but there are a few things I believe they might be able to improve on to make it even greater.
1. WiFi. WiFi is offered in the common area near the reception and kitchen, unfortunately it was not working at all, and during my entire stay I was unable to check my messages which I kind of needed to do for work on those specific days.
2. Furniture outside. The houses are really nice, but I missed having some essential furniture. You have a big veranda attached to your house, but I missed having a chair or two so I could sit there with my partner and enjoy the view of the garden and the sea. Two simple wooden chairs with maybe a table would be an improvement. A dry rack outside for some of the clothes would also have been helpful.
3. Furniture inside. The room is big and spacious and I found out I kind of wanted to have a chair inside as well, something where I can put some clothes on. There is ample space for that. I also missed having a dry rack inside. There was one in the bathroom but to small if you are traveling with someone else. Adding to that I missed an area where I could hang my clothes. No clothes hooks or a beam to hang them. As mentioned before, there is space for that.
4. Smell. Now this is something I noticed when I arrived that there was a particular smell at the reception/entrance. At first I believed it had to with the big fish pond and the koi carpers, but on the last day I found the issue. Around the entrance there are several water basins and one of them was nearly empty. I looked inside and saw a lot of frogs in there. Now that is not bad at all, but I noticed that there were several of them floating dead in shallow murky water. I guess due to the heat the water dropped so low that the frogs couldn't get out. This also explains why there were so many flies in that area.

The house is super cute
Breakfast was amazing
Staff very very helpful
Took me from the port and to the port. They really helped me to get a boat ticket on the day of my departure.
When I entered the room was full of mosquitoes. Better keep the windows closed.

Our home in koh mak..waw what a place 🙌
Friendly and helping staff.big breakfast and delicious 😋. Aon is an amazing host and will help with whatever you need. all the things you need for fun in the sun are there. Kayak, fishing rods, endless towels and even a billiard 🎱 table.motorbike rent is available and also a pick up service from the pier and back. Koh mak is heaven and this villa is the perfect place to wind down. Far (as you can get on a tiny island)from the main resorts.
We are already wishing to be there again 🙏🏽
Ps. the garden is amazing with the oldest tree in koh mak
The sand is not as white as on the north side of the island. also, don't swim too far away from the shore..the lagoon is very high

Pleasant and quiet place to stay for a few nights. Staff are super friendly and very hard working. Food at dinner time was good (although quite spicy). Breakfast was good, except for the pesky flies. Nice Beach which had red gritty sand. Rooms were airy but basic. Large beds with clean but stained sheets. TV and Good air con.
The booking . com photos looked very professional and staged and actually much better than in reality. Could do with a safe, fridge and coffee making facilities. Door lock was a problem which meant climbing in through patio door. Rooms perhaps are in need of some design flair as it’s very clinically white. Kayaks seemed a little inadequate for the sea current. The accommodation does not take credit cards as stated on booking . com. Instead you are driven to the parent hotel to pay at the end. The patio door and windows had large gaps when shut which allowed in mosquitoes at night. The room really should have a mosquito net. Found two large cockroaches on the floor when woke in the morning. The following night had giant ants (some on the bed) which were coming in under the large gap under the door. At $70 per night it may have been a little pricey for what you got.

It is simple, comfy, calm, and peaceful.
In my room, there are some holes on the walls, doors, and etc. Which might be some wild animals or insects get into the room but the other rooms are totally fine with this certain issue.

The stuff is very helpful, they help me to book boat and pick up in the pier. The villa is green, quiet and secluded. Room is spacious. Have branch outside. Restaurant is good, food is tasty. Have kayaks to use. They also help me to rent motorbike outside as it was not so close to the hotel.
The beach is not nice, water color is dark and brownish, The water is not deep, about 300 meters from the bank deep up to knees. The beach also was not clean. In the room no anything to put things on, only table for TV. No glass, no fridge. The room have only bed, TV and hairdryer, shampoo and shower gel, towels and toilet paper. Nothing more.

we stayed at the Villa Allure for nearly two weeks and we absolutely loved it! we loved the calm location and really appreciated the calmness and nature surrounding the space.
the stuff was absolutely lovely and did their best to make our stay as pleasant as possible. we would definitely recommend it if you want to relax at the beach and be a away of the crowds. the beach is beautiful and the surrounding trees give it such a nice and unique feeling.
there could be some tiny adjustments here and there to make it even nicer - but that may be due to Covid and the very limited amount of people on the island right now
3.5 / 5.0
The beds were very comfortable and it was nice being right on the beach.
The breakfast was pretty basic, the property was quite far from other restaurants and places, and the rooms were expensive compared to other places on the island.
