The pier
Dirty rooms, rooms situated near where all the rubbish is kept, falsely advertised as pool view. we left early for another hotel

Good location and fairly nice facilities
Our room was situated by the Lotus Pool which was a stagnant pool attracting an enormous amount of huge mosquitos.

Very friendly staff who were very helpful. Great location with view of Koh Kham. Very good food with delicious banana fritters!
Bed was a bit hard. Room was overlooking a ‘lotus pond’ that had no lotuses in it! Gardens needed attention.

Good location, nice surroundings, friendly and welcoming staff
The flies at breakfast were annoying especially landing on the food. (I understand it’s difficult to control) I would’ve liked the shower gel and shampoo to have been labelled ( just my personal preference)

Parts of the resort are absolutely lovely: The pier and pool area for instance.
It’s such a shame! This resort has real potential to be great, but has been poorly managed and left to run down. You can see that huge investment was originally made, however it now seems to be a shadow of its former self. My first impressions were of the reception area which looked cluttered and used as a mini storage area. Young staff constantly on their mobile phones and you could hear their phones going off. This seemed unprofessional to me and the fault of the hotel management. Wooden pathways around reception and restaurant area had broken slats and seemed dangerous. Around the pool, the electricity wasn’t always switched on to the pool for the water fountains, filter nor jacuzzi. We liked the opportunity to snorkel off the pier. The resort is set at the bottom of one of the steepest hills on the island. Beach area to right of resort is an eyesore with litter and seaweed. Dinner was fine, but we got bitten. Staff at breakfast had a real attitude problem. Getting an omelette was a real challenge. Breakfast staff just looked disinterested and bored (again on their mobiles). The room was adequate, 3 star and no more. Cleanish room, large beds, good air con, bathroom in need of some renovation and smelt of drains. Limited hottish water. Water stains in wet room and urine stains on back of toilet seat. The toilet door had a hole in with a flap covering it. There was coffee making facilities and a fridge, but no safe. The cleaning staff obviously don’t clean between the fly screen and window, there was a rather large dead critter there. The rooms like the resort seemed tired with faded and dirty stained curtains. The electricity was not stable and kept going in and out which was the same for the Wi-Fi. I’m perhaps being over critical here because it’s supposed to be one of the best resorts in Koh Mak. OK it’s an island resort in Thailand, but I paid $140 a night, so maybe my expectations were higher.

The breakfast was nice and the pier was good. The pool was good, as well as the view over the gulf.
The room and the property were not that well maintained, maybe still because of Corona. The door to our room didn't close completely, and the roof was leaky - not for rain, but we saw spiders and lizards in the room.
The bathroom was a little dirty, and the bathtub was not suitable for elderly maybe.
We didn't feel the price was fair as it was very high. We would recommend renting a scooter at another place as it was more expensive in the hotel.

Breakfast was excellent as were the staff.
Not a great beach which is usually the number one reason for going to a Thai island. Koh Lipe and Koh Kud were both much better.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The pool is very nice and they have a great boardwalk over the Gulf ending in a bar and sunning/swimming deck with sunbeds. There are also some salas around the property which are great to hang out in if you want to read and look out over the water.
This is a beachfront property as they say but it is not a swimming beach which was disappointing. I think they should be forthcoming about that. If you're looking for white sand with umbrellas and palm trees this is not here. Ao Soun Yai is a few minutes walk - but depending on the tide, it can be a bit of a swampy and plastic trashy walk.

We had the best stay at Coco Cape ever. This resort reminds me of Treasue Island. The staff are amazing, the rooms incredible and what great value for money.

Perfect place to be dropped off by boat if you are very tired. Service is very good.
It is so hard for hotel owners to maintain facilities with no customers for a year. But compared to less expensive places this hotel seems more poorly maintained. Maybe one of the more expensive rooms would have been much better.
