The entire stay was wonderful and quite affordable for a ryokan that includes two meals. There was a small misunderstanding with dinner so everyone ended up with vegetarian meals but it was so delicious. The little garden out front was well maintained and beautiful. We were right next to a small temple where you can see the steam coming off of the spring water rising. Our rooms were actually really big and we each had private baths but didn't use them. We were each provided with a ticket with the booking for one of the two bath houses in town.
The following are nitpicks:
I don't disagree with some reviews that the breakfast was certainly adjusted to Chinese tourists palates instead of a true Japanese breakfast (we were served Jyuk/Congee instead of rice, for example). However the breakfast was incredibly filling and delicious. It's also a bit of a hike to get to so be prepared for that.

The hotel was very clean and well managed. Beautiful grounds. The room was large and spacious. The food was an interesting mix of Japanese and Chinese.
The wi-if signal was incredibly weak in the room. I was unable to join the wi-fi network. The downstairs room was a bit dark, with very little natural light. I would have liked a little more explanation about the hotel features - such as using the patio area.

The room was immaculate and the breakfast included was delicious. The innkeeper and his wife were in red warm and welcoming and I cannot say enough about their hospitality. Highly recommend for a more intimate ryokan experience than the bigger ryokans nearby.

Service quality. Hospitality. Clean!
Location was a challenge when first arriving at the place. Pricy as other places near the onsen.

Our first stay in Japanese ryokan was a great expirience. Wood, tatami, futons, japanese garden, free yukatas, beautiful pottery made by famous Kyoto artist. Separated large bathtub and shower. Free tickets to Gin and Kin onsens! Arima is a very beautiful place!
Old air condition that make strange noises. Garden under construction. Enterance not signed properly.
Advice: Stairs to ryokan are located between bus station and restaurant. If you travel with suitcases you may take another route up by the main street.

Maybe a map of how to get there would be nicer.
Ended up taking a route with many stairs whilst carrying suitcases.
Some stairs are not avoidable too so may be unsuitable for elderly/disabled

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast are delicious.
We went on a very cold day and our room was freezing. The heater didn't seem function properly. When we reported the problem, staff came to check it out immediately but couldn't solve the problem. We had to wear outwears in our room.

We couldn't speak highly enough of the bath in our room. The meals were delicious and came at a great value. After everything, we were gifted umbrellas for our trip back to the train station. The garden was lovely as well. Waseido is located just off the main stretch, so you're near everything yet it feels peaceful and private.
We had a little trouble finding the hotel. Some additional signage on the main street would be helpful.

The staff provided first class service! The dinner and breakfast were one of the best meals I've had in Japan and despite my limited Japanese, they accommodated my every request. I felt very at home here while also experiencing the Japanese culture.
The hotel was initially quite hard to find using google maps but the information centre knows where you can go!
