About this house rental
The house is situated on a 320 acre cattle ranch. It was built in the early 1900's with the original part of the house built with adobe. The interior has been updated using repurposed barnwood and rusty tin from a local barn. The living area is a spacious open floorplan with a kitchen that opens to a diningroom, livingroom and sunroom. The best room in the house is the sunroom which has large picture windows on all of the walls that overlook the ranch. The main bedroom has a king sized bed. The second bedroom is in the original small adobe room and has a full bed. The 3rd bed is a hide-a-bed in the livingroom. If additional sleeping arrangements are needed, we can provide an air mattress. The home features beautiful views, a big mature yard that is secluded and has a locked entrance gate. There is an outdoor patio as well as a pergola in the yard. The house is within 30 to 45 minutes of Durango, Pagosa Springs, 2 ski resorts, biking, hiking, hunting and fishing. There are also several native american cultural sites including Mesa Verde, Chimney Rock, Aztec Ruins, and Chaco Canyon. National Forest is 5 miles north of the ranch. If you are looking for a Southern Colorado experience this is the place.
Please note that we do have a security camera installed on the outside of the house. It captures the walkway to the house and the parking area. The purpose of the camera is to make sure that people who come to the property are actually our expected guests. There are no other cameras onsite.

Beautiful and tastefully decorated home near Ignacio. The wood details and crosses were my favorite. Loved the barn doors. The home was spotlessly clean. Comfortable furniture and nicely appointed kitchen with everything you could think of at your fingertips. It was about a 30 minute scenic drive to Durango. Walmart is maybe closer as it was on the outskirts of town. We did not shop other than gas in Ignacio. Seemed as if the town was closed for the most part. Maybe because it was 4th of July week? Colorado was having a heat wave while we were there and the house did get warm, but cooled off nicely in the evenings. Fans made me it perfect for me. Very nice washer and dryer was very handy and she supplied pods. Very nice sitting area just outside the French doors and was my favorite spot. The yard also beautiful with cute decorations. Pretty sunsets as well. Ample sloped parking. This home is a really good value compared to the Durango area, just be prepared to drive. We didn’t mind it at all though, we love exploring. Mesa Verde NP was about an hour. I recommend the Durango Silverton train as well. We had a great time and the house was lovely. Thank you to the host for good communication!

The property was beautiful, quiet, and easy to find. It’s within an hour of Durango and Pagosa Springs so perfect location. The home was spacious, had lots of character and charm, and was well maintained. Communication was perfect, clear, and timely. Definitely plan to come back!

A place we had previously stayed near Ignacio was unavailable, and we are sure glad we got a chance to stay at this darling cozy property. We were worried about being warm enough in Colorado in the snow in January, but were amazed at the warmth generated by the space and wall heaters. We loved the rustic decor and design of this historic cottage and kept finding more cool touches during our stay, from sliding barn doors to barn wood walls, wooden countertops including a bar with inlaid bits of turquoise and a corrugated metal shower stall, a whiskey barrel, and barn and country prints. The ranch was very comfortable for our stay from the king size main bedroom bed to the sun porch with huge leather chairs and footstools to watch the sunrise and gaze at the cows, and a fully stocked kitchen with everything we needed from supplies to appliances, even a crock pot and high end washer, dryer, and dishwasher. We enjoyed being close enough to Durango to visit with relatives, but far enough away to relax in comfort, peace, and quiet with views. We took advantage of some of Ignacio’s favorite places, including the wonderful Southern Ute cultural center and museum, trading post, and Farmers Fresh grocery store, as well as day trips to Wolf Creek ski resort and Pagosa Springs. Heather was responsive to our questions and requests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, hated leaving, and hope to visit The Ranch again, maybe next time in the summer to take advantage of other local sights.

Heather's home was a lovely rental. We were about 30 minutes from Durango. We spent our days in Durango and nights at the rental. All photos and descriptions were accurate. We enjoyed having the use of her kitchen to prepare meals. Sleeping accommodations were clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend her home!

This property was perfect for our needs. We loved the decor and all the personal details. The property itself was quiet and peaceful and reminded me of my grandmother's property in SC. The sunroom was my favorite spot (especially early in the morning with a cup of coffee, watching the sunrise).

Awesome house with great views. Heather was super helpful. We will definitely come back back for some more quiet time. We woke up to 8 deer right outside the front door!

My wife and I spent the better part of three weeks at this beautiful home in July. Was able to work remotely for 1 week as the wifi was solid.
Heather and her family were gracious and helpful hosts. The home was very well cared for and everything was top notch. It’s a quaint rustic home but very well done. We loved watching all the wildlife — cattle, dogs, marmots, magpies, deer and more.
Used the home as a base to do 3 area hikes and regular trips to Durango and Silverton. The scenery is breathtaking for someone from NJ. We would definitely come back — it was relaxing and the perfect way to recharge in a quiet natural escape. It could not have been nicer.

A peaceful retreat
We loved the Ranch House. Beautifully put together. Fantastic kitchen with BBQ Grill off the patio. Front porch had amazing views. The master bed was the most comfortable bed ever. Woke up feeling rested and refreshed. Windows we opened to enjoy the fresh air.
We were close to Durango and spent Saturday enjoying the Farmers Market and enjoyed lunch.
Heather was absolutely wonderful to work with. Gave us plenty of ideas of things to do and see.
Nice winery about a mile from the house.
A lot of love put in to this house. We would love to come back someday.

Best Value Stay
We really enjoyed our stay at the ranch house. It has a rustic feel to fit the surroundings but the proprietor has gone to great lengths to stock the place with high quality linens and kitchenware. There are no hand-me-down items here. No old Teflon pans or coffee mug menagerie. All the appliances are new and the kitchen has coffee, tea, spices etc. What you'd expect from a super host instead of a property management company. We ordered groceries from the local Ignacio market for curbside pickup....very convenient. There is a great hiking spot nearby. We will definitely return again.

Great ranch house!
Loved this property. Super clean upon arrival. No close neighbors so it’s very peaceful. The pergola with the fire pit was great. And the stars you can see is incredible.
Loved the interior of the home, the barn doors were super cute. The house has all the amenities you need. It’s in a pretty decent location for traveling all directions to see southern Colorado. We went to tons of locations in all directions lol.
Definitely will be back here when getting out to that area again.
Heather’s communication was great, no issues.
The only thing that I really wished it had was a full length mirror. Ya know:… girls need that lol.
Great place, great price. Already have recommended!
Thanks for having us in your lovely home 😊

When we first drove up I had my second thoughts (think farm/ranch house) but then the description of it being on a working ranch was totally accurate. All second thoughts faded when we entered the house.
The home was spacious, lots of comfy seating, a beautiful kitchen and bathroom and two bedrooms separated by the rest of the house.
We stayed at two VRBOs on our vacation and this was my favorite, hands down.

This is a completely renovated ranch house on a classic Southern Colorado cattle ranch with sweeping views and expansive skies. The owners are the real deal and they have done everything to ensure that you will enjoy yourself. You're in the country but the drive to Durango is short...and there's even a well equipped grocery store just minutes away. One of our best-ever VRBO stays.
