The location is amazing and it's so lovely to have access to standup paddle boards, a 2 seater kayak and snorkeling gear. The place was mostly clean though parts could be updated.
If you have an issue with the value for money and try to question the bill, the people running the place, who are not the owner get very angry with you. This shocked us. Mostly the people running it were lovely, it was their first time cooking for a vegan diet. Unfortunately the food they made for us as vegans was not really worth the money. Really simple food (first night a "curry" with rice, was just rice with some small vegetables stirred in" and a tiny salad, second night a lentil soup. Soups are starters, we asked for bread with it and got one piece of sandwich bread each, I asked for salad and was refused".. And we had to really ask for vegetables, we left craving more nutrition. And it was really sad to leave a really lovely trip with such a sad and shocking end. We only asked for a discount on our main meals which they charge $20 for. We asked half price. They gave us begrudgingly $5 off each meal and when my friend was upset, and left to think, they took her iPad off her 7yo son and refused to give it back until she paid. It was very stressful and we really left feeling very frustrated and offended. The place is very isolated so you are at the whim of those running the place. I think it's best to make sure the owner is running the place as he will care about the review he gets.

Great help from owner to organize taxi and water taxi to reach the place. Wonderful view, great food - think fresh home made bread for breakfast- you can borrow canoe, paddle board and snorkeling gear from owner who will tell you where to go to explore the reef.
Staying one more night would have been better !

The food was amazing fresh healthy cooked to perfection. Snorkeling was available at no extra cost. It was absolutely beautiful stand up, paddle and inflatable Kayak was also available at no extra cost. The water was calm overall, it was fantastic I would highly recommend this place to friends and family.

This environmentally cautious place is an experience. Living at 0.75m above sea level, you’re really close to the nature, sea, birds, gorgeous colorful coral and dolphins that show up practically every day. The view from the waterfront cabin is so calming and charming and the thoughtful windows let you enjoy it every minute day and night. The place is quite minimal yet has a lot of character and appealing aesthetic. The owner somehow anticipates his guests’ needs and desires, and every day culminates with his gastronomic art as a chef of your dinner. I wasn’t sure about being so secluded, but in the end it was perfect.
The lounge chairs in the common area need to be fixed, but that was none of a major issue. Solar powered fan runs out of power during the night but we figured to run it on lower speed and the natural breeze was actually enough most of our nights.

Excellent stay.... Food was amazing, bar had good prices, included breakfast was great. Atmosphere laid back and chill. Elegant presentation for dining- service was outstanding. Bungalow on water was very nice and a bonus for us. We were upgraded to a bungalow on the water for 2 of the 3 nights and it was fantastic. Nice place to get away from it all. Saw dolphins out in front all three days!
The double economy room we actually booked and stayed in for the 3rd night was cramped, small and had no privacy curtain or airflow. If we stayed in this the whole time, it would have been a disappointment. The kayaks, paddle boards were functional, but they were blow up type with some leak issues. The lounge chairs were broken and dogs lay all over them. Bring bug spray for no seeums that truly are invisible but bite-typical mangrove environment.

Quiet, great snorkeling and great chef.

It was amazing. You will have to factor in some costs for the food and transportation, but then you get an amazing little hideaway in paradise.
We saw dolphins, stingrays, so many starfish and corals. We did SUP, we took out the kayak and swam in the crystal clear water. We saw a gigantic moon rise and even the bioluminescence and just had a really nice time.
Lots of sandflies. So come.with repellent and good sunscreen as well.

El Clandestino is the perfect place to relax! It’s right on the water and there are SUP boards, kayaks and snorkeling gear you can use :) The food was really good as well. The owner Sebastian was really nice and even got us bus tickets for our bus to Panamá. He also arranged a tour for us and the other guests to Isla Zapatilla which was great. We’re very happy with our stay!

Worst experience I ever had on Booking. They literally do not care about their customers. Definitely don’t recommend.

Food is incredible

Relaxed atmosphere

Food was quite expensive but the stay was a reasonable price so that levels out
Boats can be quite expensive but again for the location is worth it

It's a real retreat where one can relax and take a deep breath. It's remote, but there're various activities available: kayaking, snorkeling, there's a chocolate farm nearby and a bigger hotel if you want to eat out. Owner offers dinner options and is a really good cook.

Beautiful remote setting. Owner and staff are very friendly and welcoming. Free water was a plus. Free use of snorkelling gear, kayak and paddle boards was a brilliant extra. Food was excellent and drinks were reasonable priced. Would highly recommend for a tranquil few days.

Amazing location and absolutely beautiful!
Host wasn’t very friendly or helpful.

the location is simply amazing, we were right in front of the sea, in a comfortable stilt house with a fantastic view on the sea. perfect spot for snorkeling in a sea with an incredible biodiversity (plenty of colorful corals and starfishes right there..). Sebastian is the owner of the place, his discreet and helpful presence, his above average culinary skills (if asked he will tell you he's not a chef, don't believe him), his nice dogs, the small tours he can offer.. just made our stay in el Clandestino the best part of our week in Panama. highly recommended if you want to get away from the mass, and find nature and a peaceful environment to recharge.
make sure you bring with you anything that works against the no-see-um bites which are the only thing that could bother your stay.

The location, the host, Sebastian, the freshly baked morning bread, the fantastic evening meals, the tranquility.
It is so relaxing with so much to see. The most amazing and brightly coloured coral right off the deck, the bioluminescence at night and of course and again Sebastian who looks after you so well
The biting flies

We had an excellent stay at El Clandestino. The place is a small hideaway and feels like heaven! Everything was just perfect, the host, the tasty food, the friendly dogs, the amazing house reef and free snorkling equipment, SUP and Kajak... Thank you very much!

Beautiful location. Room was spacious and great private deck with hammock. Food was excellent. Very laid-back. Wonderful snorkling just off the dock. Kayaks and paddleboards available. Friendly dogs. Owner super accommodating.
Fans only ran for a few hours at night. Was super hot at night. Wished the windows and doors had bug screens so you could open them at night without being worried about bugs etc.

Right on the water, with two beautiful reefs to snorkel. Paddleboard, kayaks, and snorkel gear included. Wonderful dinner available, and full breakfast is included.
It's a long way from Bocas town, which means higher taxi costs.

One of the best places I ever stayed in!
We watched tens of dolphins playing in the bay right in front of us
