About this house rental
JUST REMODELED
Property is located on the beach with its own dock.
These cabins are tucked away along the shore only a few minutes' walk from town. With a deck and a spacious plot by the water, this group of cottages is perfect for large groups and family memories!
The three cottages are named "Wuzgonna," "Persnickety" and "Bugaboo," respectively. All three have their own tv/living area, lakeside deck with great views, and a fully-equipped kitchen and outdoor gas grill.
"Wuzgonna" is the largest of the group, with two bathrooms and three bedrooms. There is one bedroom with a king-size bed, one bedroom with two queen beds as well as a futon, and one room with a full/twin size bunk bed.
"Persnickety" is adjoined to Wuzgonna and can be closed off for separation or left open. This cabin has two bathrooms and three bedrooms; one bedroom with a king size bed, one bedroom with a queen, and one upstairs "loft" with one twin bed and two full/twin bunk beds... great for kids (but ladder-like stairs)!!
"Bugaboo" has one bathroom and two bedrooms, with two twin beds in one and a double bed in the other.
Depending on individual preferences, these three cottages together can accommodate up to 12-22 adults with plenty of space for small children and travel cribs.
When you rent from HomeAway, you are renting all three cottages and therefore the entire property will be yours to enjoy! We also own next door at 8532 W Silver Lake Road and can accommodate groups of 30-40 people between the two properties. Updated cottages, boat dock, fire pits. Rent or bring your own boat or water craft. Kayaks, 1 canoe and 1 paddle boat available.

Not as described
The property is not as described: it’s listed as a 9 bedroom property, it only has 8 rooms and one of those, the “loft”shouldn’t count as a bedroom. The loft has a small 3’ x 3’ opening that you have to crawl through to access the room. This posed a major problem for us, as we expected 9 bedrooms and only has 7. Sanel was helpful and opened up a separate cabin next for us to use. We had access to extra bedrooms and bathrooms there.
Overall, the location is good, the place is nice and the water is close by. But if you’re expecting a large 9 bedroom place, this is not it.

3 great cottages for large group.
Wonderful cottage. Great location. Well supplied. Our family had a fabulous vacation.

First I want to say the location is great and we had a wonderful family vacation and the online pictures are accurate.. Now for the warnings. Bring your own towels, washcloths and toilet paper. We were supplied 8 towels for 22 people for 7 days, zero washcloths and 6 rolls of toilet tissue. We had to go buy our own. The property owner was made aware but did nothing to resolve the issue. Bring your own garbage bags, dish soap, bleach, cleaning supplies and vacuum and be prepared to use them upon arrival. There is an electrical issue in persnikity, the front cottage. Lights and plugs do not work and there is sparking behind the electrical panel. There is trash behind the fake wall in the loft. The loft really should not be counted as potential sleeping space for anyone over 3 ft tall. The deck was held together by the wrong kind of screws and it fell apart almost injuring my niece.. This property could use some work done by a professional contractor and electrician before someone gets seriously hurt.. Overall you get what you pay for with this property, as the price per night is on the lower end of others in the area. Be safe and be prepared.

Wonderful view of Silver Lake and the sand dunes. Large waterfront space with fire pit. Front cottage could be a bit warm due to lack of insulation and a hotel-like built-in AC unit, but the weather was not bad during our stay. Would stay there again.

Awesome cottages and host
Our family rents a house or cottage for a group of 16 to 25 people every year. This is one of the best places we have rented. We had people from 1 yr old to their 60's and this place was great for all of us.
The 2 main cottages are well equipped with just about anything you can need and a bit more. Bugaboo is a bit more rustic. We had an issue with the air conditioner in Bugaboo and Sanel had someone there in 20 minutes to replace it. I almost didn't call but am so glad I did.
There are plenty of chairs in the private beach area, a couple canoes and fire pit area. Kids had a blast in the sand and we made the most awesome smores in the fire pit. There are plenty of places to buy bundles of wood. The only bummer was the fishing action off the pier was not good but we found plenty of things to do. The view of the dunes is unrivaled.
There were so many neat shops and stores within walking distance along with a nice playground for the little ones right across the street.
We normally try to go to different parts of the country every summer but this place was so nice we may have to do Silver Lake again.
Sanel, thank you for making this place available to rent. It truly is a gem.

Wonderful Silver Lake get away
This cottage was ideal for my family. Lakefront on Silver Lake - campfires, trips to Whippy Dip, and swims in Lake Michigan near Litte Point Sable lighthouse were awesome. There were a few amenities missing (fans & vacuums) but the communication from the property manager was fantastic.

Booking this property was extremely easy, and communication with the property manager was attentive. We had trouble checking in due to having two different lock box codes (one in the check in email sent 2 weeks prior to check in, and one sent personally in a personal message). Cleanliness of the cottages were sub par but property manager was receptive of the concerns and sent over a maintenance man. Unfortunately by the time he showed up, we had already cleaned up most of what was concerning to us. Bunk beds were extremely unsafe to sleep in so that eliminated one of the bedroom and two sleeping spaces. The cottages provided enough space for our group (16 people) and the view was breath taking.

Cannot beat the location...

Great stay for large groups!
Overall everything was amazing! We had a large group for a very relaxing "bachelor/bachelorette" get together, and every single person loved this place.
We did have a little difficulty with the wifi, as the information left for us and in the folder was incorrect/outdated, and would recommend a photo of the loft entrance for future travelers planning. The room itself will accommodate adults, but the door to the room really does not.
Other than those two hiccups, we had an amazing time. The rooms were comfortable, the kitchens were well stocked with utensils, there were enough lawn chairs for our whole group, and the views of the lake and dunes was unbeatable. We plan on being back on a yearly basis, if possible, because our group loved it so much.

Great location in a fun little town with enough activities to keep all ages busy. Dunes, Go-karts, Mini golf, bumper boats, fishing, horseback riding, and golf. Short drive to Lake Michigan beaches and lighthouse. Cozy cottages. Private beach, shallow water off dock safe for little ones, lots of water sports equipment. Perfect for a relaxing getaway.

Rustic simplicity
First the positive... plenty of space as described for our large group. The lake access and fire pit area were awesome! Plenty of seating outside and some yard space was nice. Lots to do around the area and plenty of things in walking distance!!
Now the negative... pictures are old and outdated. The “walk thru bedroom” was quite annoying and inconvenient as no one really wanted to sleep there. There were absolutely no towels or wash cloths provided... not even in the kitchen, so not knowing that was also inconvenient. One of the bathrooms had no bath mat so we had to use one of our towels. It was not very clean... pretty much just ‘straightened up’. The area and Lake access definitely up the value of this property but all in all we had a wonderful week!!

Amazing view the biggest thing for my fam of all adults was mattresses. Over all amazing amazing amazing.

Property was not as clean or up to date as expected.
Property management was responsive and proactive. Registration was easy. The property was a bit run down.

Great location and very roomy
Great location right on the lake, within walking distance to restaurants and entertainment, plenty of room for our family of 13. Check in and out was a breeze, very satisfied with stay, would book again. Sunsets over the dunes make up for the minor cons at this property.

Very relaxing home.
I recommend new mattresses in wuzgonna and a ladder for the dock to climb on from getting in and out of the water.

Perfect location
The cottage is roomy enough for a large group with all the necessary amenities. Perfect location to walk to everything. It was nice to have our own access to Silver Lake. Loved our week at the Lake

Great cabin
We very much enjoyed our stay at the cabins. We planned last minute to take a couple days off with our 3-13 year olds and run off to michagian.
Things we loved about our stay:
-since we planned so last minute (day before we left) I had messaged the owner directly to see if we would have enough time to book. She answered me promptly and was very pleasant.
-the place was clean
-the location was amazing. It is located in between lake michagian and sand dunes. Walking distance from different restaurants, ice cream shops, and other fun activities
-backyard (across small acres street) had the beautiful view of the dunes. It also had access to silver lake
-had fun toys for the kids such as water board, kayaks, sand toys.
-plenty of rooms for everyone
-kitchen fully stocked with cooking utensils, plates, cups, and marshmellow sticks for the fire.
-air conditioning
-grills
We don’t really have any cons about staying here, so if I had to nitpick I would say they need better outdoor furniture. The cabins have well water (I think) so bring plenty of water.
Overall, I would highly recommend these cabins to everyone that would like to stay by silver lake.

Great location and views. One of the best waterfront areas on the lake for campfires.
We had a large group of people and were able to accommodate everyone in these cottages. Location was super convenient to general stores, food/ice cream, boat landing, state park and entertainment. The waterfront was pretty amazing for swimming with a sandy bottom and shallow for a long way from shore, but we were still able to keep a pontoon boat at the dock. Parking was not an issue at all. Definitely plan to rent again.

Great place! Better than pictures. Only issue was septic smell in one bathroom and outside backdoor
Great

Lots of fun!!!
We really enjoyed this location. We have been renting houses for our family vacation for about 7 years and this location offered something for everyone. Part of our group didn't make it and I am not sure we would have all fit "comfortably" if they had, just because the loft was a little more challenging to get in and out of then we thought it would be. Location gets A+, the cabins get a B, just because the smallest one smelled a bit musty. The care-takers were very helpful and we found everything we needed to enjoy our week!

Great location
We loved the location, but were a bit disappointed by the accommodations. As our group was large, we needed every bed, and some of them were great, but some were uncomfortable (one unusable even after we tried to repair it) and one "bedroom" was the walk through between cottages - which afforded no privacy, not even a door.
Sleeping, and the lack of central dining/meeting area just did not meet my family's needs.
We did have a great time the week we were there and recommend the area and the facility for a smaller group.

Great location for family vacation
Cottages had lots of room Persnickety and Wuz Gonna, plenty of places to sleep. Kitchens could have been stocked with additional items, but what is there is adequate for basic meal prep. Best part is view and private beach with fire pit, kayaks and sand toys. Water was shallow and safe for kids. Cottages are within walking distance of places to eat and fun activities for entire family. Bug A Boo not so good....old and needing a deep cleaning , also to get rid of odors etc. Internet went down after a couple of days and did not come back up....not a bad thing as the kids found out they could live without their tablets.

Cabins In need of some tender loving care but great location!
Management is new and they were working on updates for the property and they worked with us to accommdate are needs. We had rented all six cabins which gave us flexibility for gatherings and beds for everyone. The firepit area was great for watching the sunsets. Canoes and kayaks were there for our use.

A beautiful, peaceful spot for all ages
Because of the collection of cabins, a group of any size can be accommodated. Our entire family (cousins, parents, and grandchildren) spent a week on Silver Lake with no complaints! There is plenty to do for everyone, the community is friendly and safe, and the cabins themselves are comfortable and well-stocked with everything we needed. There is a range in how "finished" each of the spaces are; we stayed in Persnickety, Wuzgonna, and Bugaboo, and the first two are as complete as any house or hotel room. Bugaboo is more rustic like a camping cabin, but still complete with dishes and supplies. It is a good idea to check out the surrounding area or ideas for daytrips before you go; there are so many options for spending your time, and you may not be able to access the internet there. At first, we were frustrated because the WiFi does not work well by the lake (for smart phones - laptops were fine), but once we got used to that fact, it became part of why our stay was so restful. We definitely plan to return.
