We went for a 7 nights stay. We came from Denmark and it’s really nice at Poppies. The location close to the pub is brilliant. The pub is really high quality food. I will recommend to go to Wells for to days instead of Bath.

Really enjoyed my stay. Everything you could ever need is provided with some generous extras too. Judith explained things very clearly and then left me to my privacy.
Great location to reach some great birding spots (my thing).
Would definitely stay again. Thank you.

Really enjoyed our stay with Judith. Cottage has all you need. Ring o Bells 5 minute walk. You need a car to stay here and you need to be aware when driving on the very narrow lanes.
Wonderful stay.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at this lovely cottage. Perfectly suited our needs for exploring North Somerset. It was warm, spotlessly clean and Judith was a perfect host

A very charming cottage in a quiet village a short drive away from Bath. We had a very relaxing time during our stay, the cottage was very cosy and comfortable. Would highly recommend!

Lovely little property in a rural Somerset setting, perfect for our family of 3 (plus 1 small pooch).
We enjoyed our few days away, lots of long walks, board games, nice food from Salt & Malt (fish and chips) at the nearby Chew Valley Lake, and Sunday Roast at the local pub (the Ring O Bells). Cheddar Gorge and caves was a fun day out. Visited nearby Wells too for a mooch around the smallest city in England.
Poppies gave us everything we needed and the bedrooms were super cosy. We enjoyed making use of the log burner too.
Judith was on hand if we needed anything, but likewise left us alone to enjoy our short stay.

Cosy and well equipped cottage set in a very quiet and picturesque location. There is no garden as such but walks were available virtually from the door - my daughter was able to walk her dog easily.
Judith (host) was very accommodating with winter fuel as the central heating is fuelled by a wood burner. Judith kindly contacted us before we arrived to ensure heating was going when we arrived. In a cold winter period I would probably have found it a little too chilly when getting up in the morning betwixt lighting log burner and the heat circulating. However there were a couple of electric heaters to boost the temperature in individual rooms which were very helpful.
Overall we had an excellent stay and were able to relax before the rush of Christmas.

What a great little hideaway! Lovely cottage but have to admit with the unseasonably cold temps it was cold, but with additional electric heater and the toasty hotwater bottles for bed it was glorious. Not far from major cities it made for a welcome break.
Pub in village was quiet lovely also.
Thank you to host judith for a nice visit. Would love to stay again sometime.
Very quiet at night such a treatto lay in bed and hear the owls.

Us and another couple stayed in this cosy and lovely property in Nov 2023.
The listing is accurate and the host most welcoming and all correspondence was very good.
Its located in a rural area with a very nice pub 200 yards away in the village. Other amenities are 10 - 15 min drive away and Bath is about 1/2 hr.
Lovely location, property and welcome. Love to stay again

Stayed for 3 nights in November. Good comms prior to arrival. Met by owner at prearranged time. Lovely welcome. Good off road parking. Cosy cottage, fabulous wood burner - fuel all included. Everything you could need was provided. Excellent facilities in all respects, including very comfy beds.
Good location. We spent a day in Bath (park & ride less than half an hour drive) and a day in Wells (15/20 minute drive). Some local roads single track but plenty of passing places.
We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

The cottage and surrounding areas are ideal to relax and enjoy the many trails through rolling hillside and farms with breathtaking views. The hostess was very welcoming and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days there, and wish we could have stayed longer.

Due to an illness we sadly had to cut short our stay, but the property was as advertised, Judith was very helpful and the area is lovely, extremely peaceful.

Cozy cottage
We had a very nice stay in this lovingly decorated cottage. The owner is super nice and speaks English, German, French fluently. There is nothing missing in the apartment. The apartment is located exactly between Bristol and Bath. We can fully recommend the cottage. Thank you very much that we were allowed to be there.

We spent a whole week in the area and Poppies was a relaxed place to "come home" to, after busy sightseeing days in Bath, Wells, Duncan Aqueduct, Chew Lake...
Judith welcomed us on our arrival and gave us advice for the handling of woodburner, bathtub-shower, heating and kitchen equippement. There even was ground coffee, teabags and milk for us!
The cottage is cosy, with thick walls and small windows - (view to wonderful raps-oil field in the back!). The electric heater was very efficient for us.
Bedrooms and shower are upstairs. The (german) discription said there'd be a bathtub AND a shower. But it is a shower IN a bathtub, placed in the center of the room. It looks fantastic, but we found it difficult to get in and out.
For us (Germans) it was stressy to drive the narrow steets to the cottage (and everywhere in GB). Thank God there was not much oncoming traffic!
Too bad that the close by pub was booked out over coronation weekend and it was closed the days afterwards. Ee had no chance to try it. So we used the kitchen which was alright because it is well equipped.
We tried some walks along the footpaths (at this time partly pretty muddy) to the closer area. Cameley chapel is a visit worthwhile as well as the viewpoint overlooking Chew Lake Valley.
We enjoyed our stay and thank Judith very much for her hospitality.

This was the English Cottage experience we were looking for. We loved the quick walk to the pub in the evenings and the views of the farmland were tranquil and relaxing. Judith was so considerate and provided our family oat milk to accompany our tea and coffee, and the French press was a nice touch.

The cottage is lovely, location peaceful. We had everything we needed and Judith was there to explain everything and on hand if we had any questions. The bed was so comfy we didn't want to get up. Even though the weather wasn't great we still ventured out and had a very relaxing time. Just what we needed. Thank you

This was my first trip to England and I wanted to get the full British Experience, which I did. Poppies was a beautiful setting for our first few days. Judith was a gracious hostess and was so kind and helpful, her directions were spot on! She even advised us where the grocery store was and to take the bus into Bath instead of driving, saved us a lot of headache! The cottage was lovely and well stocked with paper goods and soap, she provided coffee, tea and even milk for the tea! The cottage is also within walking distance of the pub Ring o Bells which has delicious food. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone and would gladly stay here again

Weekend family trip to visit Bath and Wells. The location was perfect for us to see both locations. We used the park and ride to visit Bath and it worked out perfectly. The quiet countryside made the evenings so relaxing. We enjoyed playing board games together and didn’t turn the tv on all weekend.
Judith was a wonderful host who had the wood stove already burning before we arrived. I would definitely recommend!

We loved our stay in Judith’s cottage. Quiet, relaxing, and the cottage is so well equipped and cosy. Once in a while a vehicle drives by outside but it’s a rare occurrence. The local pub is superb and is only 200 or so metres away. Salt and Malt is a 20 minute drive and does a decent fish and chips. The welcome from Judith was lovely. Some lovely memories from our stay here.

We chose this cottage through Canine Cottages, to enable us to bring our dog and visit family in the area. Pre arrival we had clear instructions from Judith, the host, about how to find the cottage, and what to expect. The log burner was alight when we got there, and after a long journey through temperatures of -7C that was a huge bonus. Tea, coffee, and milk were nice extras.
Judith kept the log burner going for us whilst we were out visiting family.
The Ringobells pub was perfect for an evening meal on Thursday night. Our dog was very welcome.
A great location.

A lovely cottage in a peaceful location, with everything you need, with the bonus off a log burner and free-standing bath. Only 30 minutes from Bath and Bristol. We would recommend staying here again, Thank you Judith.

Set amongst country side and surrounded by fields the cottage offered us respite after a stressful visit to UK. The cottage is beautifully appointed and decorated with a nod to it’s heritage. The rooms are large and the bed gave us an excellent nights sleep.
Thank you
