About this cottage rental

Lake Lure continues to recover from Hurricane Helene! We’re pleased to share that Timber Cove Cottage and the Lake Lure area are once again welcoming guests. Thanks to dedicated contractor and volunteer efforts, access roads and essential services like power, water, and WiFi, are restored. Although the Chimney Rock area, Lake Lure beaches and waterfront are currently closed, there is so much that our beautiful foothills area has to offer. Come enjoy Timber Cove Cottage as a peaceful retreat and “home base” for visiting nearby towns and attractions. Area restaurants, including Lake Lure and Asheville are reopening. There's golf at Rumbling Bald, and area wineries, breweries, music, trails, waterfalls, and so much natural beauty within an hour's drive of Lake Lure. Tryon Equestrian Center is hosting some of the Chimney Rock businesses that suffered from the storm. Saluda, Hendersonville, Forest City, Asheville, and larger cities like Greenville, SC and Charlotte, NC are great day-trip destinations. By choosing to visit, you’re supporting the local businesses of Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and Western NC. We look forward to welcoming you!

Timber Cove Cottage is one of Lake Lure’s most historic and scenic lakefront homes, with features dating back to the 1930’s. You will be captivated by the nearly 2 acres of beautifully landscaped stone terraces, walkways, and fire pit area. The wonderful outdoor spaces continue with an inviting roof-top deck, overlooking Timber Cove, Lake Lure and surrounding mountains. Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our Family of 6, 4 Adults and 2 children, stayed a week at Timber Cove. The cottage was very clean inside and met all of our needs. The pictures make the cottage look smaller than it actually is. There’s a lot of room for larger Groups to spread out. We spent most of our time outside on the expansive decks. We fished and swam right off of the lower deck. The lower deck has stone steps leading in to the water, which made it easy to get in and out of. We took a large inflatable, round swimming pad and tied it to the dock and the Grandchildren loved it. Note, there are hardly any places local to get good fishing bait. We had to drive 30 miles out of town for minnows and crickets. The beds were all comfortable and after a long day outside, we all slept comfortably. The Cottage itself is just minutes from downtown Chimney Rock Village, where there is shopping and lots of great places to eat. The Broad River has a walk behind all of the downtown shops and it’s really beautiful. Our favorite place to eat was the Lake House Bar and Grill. Very large portions and excellent food. Chimney Rock State Park is just minutes away from the Cottage. Be sure and go. We also went to Biltmore Estates, which was about 45 minutes away. Be sure and go. You can spend all day there. The Cottage layout. Upstairs living room and Kitchen, built on sun room with 2 pull out sofas and a large dining table. Master King Bedroom and bath. Large partially covered deck off of the Kitchen. Lower level has 2 bedrooms, one King and one Queen. To get to the Queen bedroom and bathroom, you have to go through the King BR. It wasn’t a problem. Washer and dryer in Queen Bedroom. The lower level has 2 walkout doors that go out to the lower docks and boathouse. We loved having the kayaks and SUP boards to use. Overall, we had a great time and the Cottage was great for our needs. We highly recommend. The Grounds are beautiful and a nice firepit is down a small creek lined lane just off the lo

Overall, this house was perfect for the size of our family and had everything you would need to have a great time at this mountain lake location. The scenery was spectacular and the cove was perfect for swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Plenty of wildlife activity as well which was cool to see (small bear passing by, deer, lightning bugs, beavers to name a few). Good locale near all the places that Lake Lure/Chimney Rock had to offer. The only drawback was around the septic tank/water situation. We were made aware on check in that this issue was being addressed through the city and the homeowner to have a main water line moving away from the septic tank. Some minor issues were tub drainage, garbage disposal not being able to be used, and a consistent odor in the downstairs bathroom. Minus a few small issues the house was amazing and will be a great place to book for your next family vacation.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Timber Cove Cottage! This property is absolutely gorgeous, even more so than the pictures. The check-in process was super easy and Kathleen the property manager was very responsive to our needs. We appreciate the owners allowing us to use the kayaks and paddle boards; definitely an added perk of the trip. I can’t speak for the other beds but the master on the top level was very comfy! The house has everything you need and we didn’t want for a thing. This trip was nothing short of amazing and provided the rest and relaxation we so desperately needed. We would love to return to Timber Cove someday!

Check in process was easy and the property looked even nicer than the photos! The fire pit was a big hit. Everything we needed was there. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of comfy seating for 7 in front of the cozy fire as well as the big farm table for dining. We enjoyed stargazing from the deck even though it was a bit chilly. We enjoyed exploring Chimney Rock, Triple Falls, and Hendersonville. Kathleen was very helpful. One word of caution, we encountered the neighbor's agressive dogs when taking the trash to the end of the drive, so if you have small kids, don't let them wander down the drive by themselves. It could have been a one time thing but just an FYI. I would definitely stay here again!

The house is great and has everything you need. Kayaks and inner tubes for spending time on the lake made for a fun stay. Property owners were very kind and easy to get in touch with.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Timber Cove Cottage is a historic gem nestled on the shores of Lake Lure. My husband and I stayed there for 4 nights and loved it. The cottage and grounds are impeccably maintained, with marvelous stonework and landscaping. The cottage is spacious and well-appointed with modern appliances and amenities. It is located just a few minutes' drive from the charming town of Chimney Rock, as well as a grocery store and area restaurants. Our hosts were friendly and responsive, even checking in with us after a big storm knocked out power to the whole area. We will definitely stay there again.
