Perfect location. Room was lovely.
No lift.

position was fantastic. Room was clean. Santa visited as we were leaving.
We were put in a “ accessible “ room on the ground floor. woke up all night with people running up and down the stairs above our heads, then 2 x again with the emptying of bottles in a bin near our room late at night. No phone in room and felt totally detached from actually staying at the hotel, so we didn’t bother with breakfast and left.

The meals were very good and staff friendly and helpful
The carpets in the room and throughout the property were old and stained and really off putting . I found the property to be overpriced .

Friendly staff and excellent breakfast.
Decor a bit tired especially the stair carpet for the standard expected.

Enjoyed Breakfast
4.0
Breakfast and dinner menus looked appetising.
Service was VERY slow at both dinner and breakfast. Two hour wait for dinner to be served and one hour for breakfast service. Some items had run out both times. That was very disappointing. I would say that they had overbooked, didn't have sufficient food in stock and we even got the impression the hotel had skimped a little on certain items to make what they did have go further. We had booked there to join family and friends for a pre-arranged Graduation celebration meal.

Great hotel with lovely views and a nice walk around the grounds
Although the food was outstanding, might not be for everyone's taste

The rooms were spacious and absolutely gorgeous within this stately and historical building. We loved the stone work within the rooms and the massive ensuite bathrooms with heated towel racks. Our room was clean and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed eating our dinner outside in one of their heated geodesic domes…great rain or shine! Staff were very friendly and helpful!
There is a small airport close to Taypark House. You can hear the plane engines warming up at times but it is not constant. It was not inexpensive to stay at this hotel so we were surprised to see an unfinished patchwork on the wall in the bathroom. As well, the caulking in the shower base needs replacing. It was black in several areas which in my experience indicates mold.

Beautiful location, friendly and welcoming staff. Large, comfortably furnished room with incredible bathroom. Food and meal service excellent.
Didn't bother me, but be prepared for climbing stairs to rooms. I wish I had booked a longer stay.

Brilliant breakfast cooked perfectly and very well presented, better than most hotels you stay at for sure.
The room was spacious and very clean with lovely little extra touches and high quality in room amenities and local

The only good thing I s the restaurant.
We were in the room 301 . It was so cold and dirty. Lucky we just stayed for 1 night and we didn’t spent much time in it. they could at least offer another room for us even if we pay more. But that was not mentioned to us that the room we booked is outside the hotel.

Great location as a stopping off point on our way to Aberdeen. The accommodation was excellent, the staff couldn't have been nicer. Food was very good.

Lovely, spacious room and amazing view. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The breakfasts were mostly ok but dinner was very disappointing. One of our steaks was smaller than advertised and undercooked. The burger was the worst I have ever eaten - very poor quality meat, a tiny bit of stringy cheese and barely cooked bacon. The menu choices was poor. The service was incredibly slow given that there were few guests.

bedroom wasn’t cleaned / bed made overnight. The special menu options weren’t available despite showing on both the website and on Opentable. No bottles of white wine were available.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had in this price range and I am averaging around 50 night a year.
I’ll make it a list as a text would fill a book:
Pros:
Beautiful location in Tay Park in Dundee.
Beautiful old house
One of the worst experiences I have ever had in this price range and I am averaging around 50 night a year.
I’ll make it a list as a text would fill a book:
-Room was dirty with dust and spider webs all over the place
-Furniture seems to have been collected from several yard sales
-Tiny space with a very small bed
-Old mattress with no mattress cover
-Sheets did not even cover the mattress properly
-The whole building is being lit up the whole night leading to the room being bright enough illuminated to read a book even with blinds closed and pillows stuffed against the window.
-Heating is only switched on far a few hours. We arrived to a freezing cold room and froze the whole night after heating was switched of again later that night.
-A beautiful hole in the wall in the bathroom
-The shelf in the bathroom falling down during the night due too a poor fix of the fittings
-Beautiful view onto the walking path from the toilet and shower and not curtains etc.
-All the fittings in the bathroom seem to have also been randomly collected from yard sales.
- No TV remote
-Only one tiny bottle of shampoo for and no shower gel or hand soap
-Cluttered reception
-Carpets in the whole building and the smell that comes with that
This entire stay was basically a rip off and I can only warn everyone to stay away from this establishment.
Especially if you stay several days as the noise from the adjacent airport is very present during the day.

Such a lovely place. We were made to feel so welcome. All the he staff were excellent.
The bed in our loft room wasn’t big, probably about 140cm but finally it was comfortable for 2 people over 6ft.

Food was good
Rooms very impersonal. Main stair carpet very dirty and the smell from it was evident on entering the reception.
We were booked for 2 nights but checked out after only one.

the room (garden room, 301) was very nice.
the staff at the reception were miserable. a pity for such a great hotel.
an airport as a neighbour is simply very noisy.
during my tour through the garden and the house (and also behind the house) everywhere disorder and chaos. very sad for such a great house.
