The rooms are cozy, well equipped and we felt very safe. No problems at all to use outside toilet/shower even at night. Everything was very clean and we can only recommend the nearby restaurant in walking distance. Great food, exceptional wine cellar (ask for Brandon) and unbeatable views. We stayed three nights and there was a lot to see and do (also organised tours) in this wonderful reserve.

Beautifully set in the heart of a nature reserve. I loved the option of an open air shower near the Rondawel! The staff are exceptional. There is also a beautifully curated museum near the reception - a must see!

The location
expensive for what you get. not enough equipment to cook/clean and you have to use outdoor ablutions so you may as well be camping. Mostly seems geared towards international tourists with plenty of money to eat all meals at the restaurant rather than self cater. Not value for money ~ overpriced: the same value could pay for a incredible BnB elsewhere. Towels were in very poor condition, but otherwise (value for money aside) it was great!

Area is great to stay. Wildlife around the site.
Payment should be processed via the platform bookingcom. Had to transfer money separately which causes banking charges I need to cover.
Blankets were not clean. One could expect this for the price.
The restaurant offers high priced menu only for dinner and for breakfast. Better to bring your own food or test the brand new Sea Bistro with amazing ocean view and amazing food near Koppie Alleen Beach Parking (kitchen closes at 4pm).

The breathtaking scenery and wildlife is really something that I would recommend to share with others.
There was not a bathroom in our rondawel, we had to share communal facilities.

If you are looking for the Real Africa, you get quite close here. Tranquility, amazing stars at night, Zebras that cross your way when walking back from the very good Fig Tree Restaurant, Bontebok, Ostriches….and a bunch of Baboons. Hiking along the coast is one of a kind. Well worth the 50K gravel road to get there.

Amazing location, large rooms, good amenities. Meals at the restaurant are fantastic
Insects and no bathrooms. For the price, I think you should get more than just an outdoor communal shower

Very good.

Being so close to nature - peaceful and tranquil with unbeatable views, makes De Hoop such a special destination. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It was our 50th wedding anniversary, and a bottle sparkling wine with glasses welcomed us in our rondawel! It was such a nice gesture! We were impressed with the daily maintanance of the rondawel and braai area.
Unfortunately the outside ablution facilities was a bit neglected - the toilet leaked and floor was wet. We loved using the roofless shower in nature, but the mixer tap broke and the repair only lasted a day. De Hoop is still a fabulous destination, butperhaps in need of some TLC.

Perfect for a few days of get-away-from-it-all!
The rondawels have a lovely view of the vlei, lapping water lulls you to sleep.
Serviced daily.
Outdoor showers were clean with good toiletries.
Kitchen has a fridge, kettle and toaster so braai is really the only self catering cooking possible.
Be sure to book for the vulture experience!
The restaurant dinner was quite pricey and not that great.
Hot water is loadshedding dependent.
4.5
Stunning to be right inside the park
Restaurant only offers a rather overpriced dinner menu
the staff was nice to us but not to the park guides. I hate to see when they treat people differently

fantastic location, the park is just great!
very comfortable beds in the little Rondawel
highly recommend the bird walking tour. the guide was super funny
the breakfast was quite poor. it was impossible to get eggs and bacon as the staff wasn’t very attentive.
also there were birds which flew and sat on the food on the bufffet. not very hygienic.
the campsite restrooms were a little urrgghhh. not what one would expect for 90€/night.

everything. it is so beautiful at De Hoop, very peaceful!

Great setting over the river with a fantastic sunset. The rondel we were in was clean, comfy and better than we expected. The national park itself is stunning with ostriches and other wildlife roaming around.
The road to get to the hotel is around 30miles long and unpaved. This journey took us about a hour and could have led to either a puncture or crack on the windscreen easily with other cars passing in the opposite direction churning up the road. If you have a small car like us definitely factor in an extra hour to the driving time stated on GPS.

This is the best place to stay if you want to get away from the rest of civilisation. It takes about 50km over good dirt roads to get here (no issue for regular cars). Our hut came with communal showers and toilets which was the only lack of comfort. The showers are outside so in this season it was a bit chilly! It was amazing to sit outside our hut and watch the sun set over De Vlei. so peaceful. In the morning, a family of dassies visited us as well - we’re big fans. The food at the restaurant is excellent - far exceeded our expectations! We did a maritime guided walk which we enjoyed very much (despite the early hour) and the dunes are stunning. The only thing which we were disappointed by is that despite a clear sunny day, we didn’t get to stargaze as the clouds moved in as night fell. Happens all the time apparently - they stopped offering stargazing activities because of it so don’t get your hopes up…!

The rondelle was great, we were pleasantly surprised. It was comfy and the view from the front was amazing. There were animals and birds visiting every day. We had a fire with a bbq and you can buy firewood and meat from the shop. The park is great and there's lots of wildlife.
We hired bikes and they really need an upgrade. They were very uncomfortable and we didn't get far on them. Also, we didn't do our research properly and didnt realise the beach was way further than we thought. We didn't have enough time to visit the beach via car due to time constraints. Sad to miss it as it was a big reason we came.
Finally , be prepared for the long dirt road, make sure you have enough petrol and prepare for your car to get dirty.

Loved the rondawel and especially the outdoor shower ... what a treat.
Load shedding 😠

really nice stay in Roundalls, nice staff, very helpful. saw loads of Whales in the bay. all round really enjoyed our trip here.
I thought the meals were a little on expensive side in restaurant, but I guess supplies all need to be brought in.
4.0
The venue, the look & the view.
The communal bathrooms/showers with no emergency lights during loadshedding/the expensive menu at the restaurant and no other options for food (unless you eat meat only).

Exceptional service in a very beautiful setting. We were upgraded to a cottage with a full kitchen and bathroom, which was greatly appreciated in a rather cold winter week. Easy access to walking trails along the vlei.

We got an update of our room for no reason and we were absolutely amazed. We had a whole house, nicely decorated and very comfortable, with all the cutlery to make your own food. The location is the best, and the staff was very nice. We would have loved to stay longer.
5.0
Amazing nature reserve…felt unreal every second we were there. We got a free upgrade by the incredibly kind staff, and really appreciated it because of the severe winter cold. The animals are literally everywhere, as soon as you step outside of your door, from incredible bontebok, to ostriches up to hundreds of different birds. I wish we’d stayed longer in this magical place
