The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare an endless variety of meals. The top-of-the-line appliances are only the beginning. If you enjoy cooking, you will be delighted to find sturdy pots and pans, roasting pan, crock pots, a rice cooker, air fryer and more. First of all, the house was spotless. We've stayed in numerous rentals, and I think this house was the cleanest. It was also beautifully decorated. We had a our two labrador retrievers with us. They had a blast in the Highlands. NOTE: If you have large dogs, they will definitely be able to escape the yard so do not leave them unattended. The house is in a great location!

Lovely well maintained cottage. Beautifully quiet and serene. The perfect balance between gracious comfort and understated charm. Yes, a Marvelous Surprise! Welcome supplies anticipated and provided by the kind owner to help with our arrival. Our favorite things, the large screened porch and gated fire pit area for guests with dogs. Well appointed Kitchen provided the opportunity to take advantage of farm to table dining (great produce markets nearby). The worst part was having to leave!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house as it was convenient to downtown and a nice house and allowed us to bring our dog to also enjoy Highlands with the many other dog owners.

The house was perfect for my husband and me to relax for a week. It was clean and comfortable and looks just like the photographs in the listing. The screened in porch was a perfect spot to read a book. The location is fantastic. You feel like you are tucked away in the mountains, but it is an easy 10 minute walk to the shops on Main Street in case you feel the urge to get out and about. I highly recommend staying here!

The property was amazing and we totally enjoyed the two seating areas with a gas fireplace and the two bar areas. We brought fire wood and enjoyed two fires in the pit are with s’mores. The beds and linens were very nice and the bunk bed room was perfect for our toddler. We did not walk into town due to the traffic on the main road, but we would have with just adults. The fenced in area was perfect for our small dog, especially during out two cold days, one with snow flurries. An A+ destination!

My partner and our two young children and our two dogs stayed at Bluebird Cottage. We frequent the Highlands and loved finding this gem. Location is perfect and the hosts could not have been more accommodating and helpful. This is a great place and we would highly recommend it.

It was nice. Front porch is huge plus. The second bedroom and bunk room are quite small. We had 5 adults and the family pooch and were very comfortable. Parking was a bit of a challenge but not unusual for the area. We were able to get 2 crew cab pickups and a full size SUV in the space with no problem. Contact with host was excellent!

Our family of four, plus our two corgis traveled from Florida to this amazing property. The property has every amenity you would want in a vacation home. Secluded but close to town. Fire pit, indoor gas fireplace, and all the kitchen supplies one needs to prepare simple to extravagant meals. This property does not miss the mark on anything! If you are looking to visit Highlands, NC, this place is checks all of the boxes!

We were thrilled to see that the house was as represented. It was clean and comfortable, well appointed with all that we needed. We especially appreciated their guidebook that told us about the house, places to shop and buy groceries, and outdoor activities.

We absolutely loved the property. It was exactly what we were expecting from the description and was spotless!

The only downside was the road noise from the screen porch. Other than that, it was a super clean and well-equipped cabin! Our family enjoyed the chess table, as well!

We loved our stay at Bluebird Cottage. The cottage has an amazing use of space for its size, two areas for lounging with the dining room and living room. Both areas have TVs and fireplaces, which was just perfect for watching the Ryder Cup and multiple college and NFL football games. The house is so charming and very well appointed. We loved our fires in the outside fire pit. The location is perfect as it has a mountain feel, but you are only minutes from town. We will be back!

Had a great week with friends in the Highlands. Our VRBO was perfect with enough spaces for everyone. Screened in porch was great for morning coffee and fire pit at night with a glass of wine. Beautifully decorated with everything you would need for a short or extended stay. The only suggestion I would have is to install a safety bar (for older guest)in the massive tub with rain shower head and improve the shared drive where the gravel has shifted making it difficult to drive. Our host was very helpful and provided so much helpful information about dining and sight seeing. Would definitely recommend this property.

My family really enjoyed the stay here and will definitely come back and stay here. The home was really perfect for my family in size and comfort. It is great location, really close to town with a nice kitchen and appliances for cooking and we loved the patios and screened porch. The kids liked all the TVs. We will come back for sure.

We absolutely LOVED our time at Bluebird Day Cottage. From the moment we walked in we felt completely comfortable and at home. We loved the charming decorations in every room, and the screened in porch was an absolute respite! Our pups loved the courtyard and the quiet streets around the cabin for their daily walks. The cabin is in close proximity to town and other cabins, but the beautiful landscape coverage makes it feel like we are miles away from everything and everyone. Making s'mores in the firepit was so fun! We thought it was pretty special that we got a couple of visits from local hummingbirds, too! We would love to visit Highlands again, and it will be an absolute must to stay at Bluebird Day Cottage! Thank you for making us feel so comfortable and welcomed!

Two sisters and husbands stayed at this property. The front porch and outdoor fire pit were nice and relaxing as was the living room, dining room, and kitchen. The only problem was the parking in the rear. There was really only room for one car in the rear. This was not a problem with us as we only had one car, but when my sister came to visit she parked in the front as it was too tight in the rear.

Had a very relaxing trip. Me, my wife, daughter, and MIL stayed for 4 nights. Directions to the house were clear and easy to follow. Great location near town. Zero complaints about the house, and the pictures are an accurate reflection of the house. Enjoyed the fire pit and screened porch in the evening.

Our family visited Highlands for the first time and truly loved our stay at the Bluebird Day Cottage! While the neighboring homes are close, the feel of the cottage is private. The screen porch gets a bit of road noise but the cottage is very quiet inside. We enjoyed sitting in the fenced-in yard with our pups in the afternoons. Everything was very clean (including the outdoor areas) and well stocked. One day was showery and we enjoyed being inside because all of the cottage windows had lovely views of the rhododendrons in the yard. We found the beds a little too firm for our preference, but we slept well nonetheless. Overall, the cottage was just perfect for our family and the close location to town was a definite plus. We hope to return in the future! (We also highly recommend the Lakeside and Midpoint restaurants in Highlands and the Orchard restaurant in Cashiers.)

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was cool so we made good use of the gas fireplaces. The location was very convenient to downtown and all the great local restaurants.

We spent the week at Bluebird Cottage. The location makes everything in Highlands super accessible. It’s super close to Glen Falls which is a great hike.
The front porch and the fire pit are great places to relax. It was a great stay.

We spent the week of Thanksgiving in this pristine mountain cottage. I did have to reach out to Jennifer twice for minor questions and she was a pleasure to talk to and extremely prompt communicating. The house was exactly as described online and in the photos. It was very well stocked w/ almost everything we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving dinner.
As many other reviewers mentioned, the parking can be a little tricky, but once you figure out where the back driveway is, USE IT. We did have an issue with the pilot lights going out on both sets of gas logs, but luckily I knew how to re-light them.
Our Labrador retriever enjoyed her time at the house as well and we love being able to travel with her and appreciative the owners welcoming four legged family members.

One of the best experiences I’ve had. The photos don’t do the house justice and the owners took no short cuts in amenity offering. The pet friendly house was so clean, not a dog hair visible and they provided all the nicknack items you need to feel at home. The host were great, allowing for an easy and hospitality experience. I will be back to enjoy with my family and pups!

This home was very comfortable and in the perfect location. Walking distance to town. It was clean and well furnished with everything we needed and we loved that we could bring our dog. We even saw one of the neighborhood bears one evening when we were around the firepit! Of course we ran inside, but it was an adventure! Jennifer was a great host! We will stay here again in the future. ;)

The property is close to downtown Highlands which is big plus and is great for 2 adults and younger children and very clean. Parking is difficult and really cannot support more than two vehicles. Needs to be clear on the information to not park in the front parking of house as very easy to get stuck in the gravel and very dangerous to pull onto the road from driveway. There was no tv in the 2nd bedroom with queen bed and a code was required on thermostat to change temperature once during our stay of a week.

Property was lovely, spotless & very comfortable. Well appointed & only a 10-15 minute walk to town. Owner was extremely responsive to any questions we had. We enjoyed our time at Bluebird Day Cottage & would definitely return.

My wife and I stayed in this lovely cottage while on vacation in Highlands for a week of hiking, golf and visiting friends. The property is only a 6 to 7-minute walk to "Main Street" downtown Highlands. It is very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated on the inside, and we enjoyed the outdoor patio/firepit/grilling area. It is very close to Hwy 64 (Franklin Rd), so there is some traffic noise, but otherwise perfect and we hope to stay there again in the future.

Bluebird Cottage is everything you would hope for. Very clean, and and just as described in the listing. We thoroughly enjoyed it—once we figured out the parking. Not the easiest thing to navigate, but is more than made up for by the location! Definitely would recommend this property.

Great property!
We had a great stay at this cute cottage! It was clean and comfortable and stylish. The hosts have provided everything you would need for a relaxing town stay. We enjoyed walking to town and to the Bascom- it was a GREAT location, close to everything but you feel nestled in the forest - just perfect. Being able to bring my two big dogs made the trip possible. Thank you Jennifer and Barrett for sharing this special property!
