Everything was bad and catastrophic. My husband and I never thought our vacation would be like this. Mohamed (the host) made us live in a nightmare throughout our stay. He did drugs at the hotel and never respected the rules of the management, including noise and loud music in the morning and night. When my husband speak to him, he became aggressive and threatened to kill us if we didn't leave the hotel. Luckily, we recorded everything on video. He tried to break into our room while we were sleeping. He fired us before the deadline, threatened to kill us again, and tried to beat me up. We were terrified. It was a nightmare we'll never forget for the rest of our lives.

no tornarem

Hi, I met the receptionist Muhammad. He knows English very well. He came to pick me up from taxi in night. In addition, he was trying his best to make my stay comfortable. He provides me hair dryer, extra towels and tissues. I am glad, I booked this place to explore Fez.

The hostel itself is close to the Medina in a very small road between other houses. Was at first little bit scary to walk there, but it is located in a safe area. The two women working in the hostel were friendly and doing a good job in making delicious breakfast and cleaning the rooms. It was clean all the time, but smells (espacially in the bathrooms), maybe because it is an old house in an very old town.
Espacially Karim was very nice, respectful, organized and welcoming to the guests. He was the perfect hostel manager and the biggest plus in the hostel.
Rooms don't have lockers and, as alteady said, toilet smells.
The biggest minus was the hostel owner. He was stoned all the time and trying to force this kind of "family feeling" in a unauthentic way. He war paranoid that someone could give him a bad review and was overdoing it all the time with trying to nake a good stay for us. He was also touchy, nervouse and unfriendly. He asked me 3 times, if I still will write a good rating and personally insulted me. He said that I am a liar and told me I am egoistic because I didn't want to spend 15 Euro for a tajin vegetarian. He thought, that european students are rich and can spend more money to help people in Marocco. It was very unpolite to tell me all this things and he was mensplaining me often. He wanted to give us "life lessons" in a very weird way. Because he was so stoned all the time, he did not know what he was saying and mixed a lot of things up.

Is was really convenient that they picked us up from the nearby gate in the Madina and let us store our bikes in the accomondation. The hosts tried to make us feel comfortable and provided towels for ud. The breakfast was exeptional good. Dar Fez Art rooftop terrace has the best views over the madina and is a great place to chill. Thanks for the stay!
A showercurtain would help in the bathroom and a garbagebin in the room.

the terrace is amazing and the hosts are friendly
the signage to find the hotel will probably be updated by the time you visit, but if not, here is how to find it:
1) do not go past the gate/entrance at bab rcif - go along the last possible wall/corridor perpendicular to the gate entrance on the right hand side of the entrance to bab rcif
2) when this corridor dead ends after about 15-20m, turn to your right
3) go past one corridor on the right hand side, turn right into the 2nd possible corridor
4) the door will be about 10-15m down on your left and has a doorbell and a security camera above it

I had a great stay at Dar Fes Art Guest House. The location is inside the Medina and all the key sights are very close. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and has air conditioning. Also, the guest house is very clean and well taken care of. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The guest house also has a rooftop with a great view of the medina. I would stay here again when in Fes.
positive experience

10/10, beautiful place. Perfect location right in the middle but hidden down a side street so away from the noise of the market. Rooms are massive and showers amazing with hot water. Amazing rooftop view of the medina.

The view from the terrace was really amazing, especially when I woke up to see the sunrise. it is located in the city centre so you can get easily to the old town :) Simon came to pick me up with his motorcycle and it was very nice of him :) I am very satisfied with the room as well, i had AC and you can get all what you need (hairdryer, wifi, new towels and sheets as well) :)
I just don’t understand why all the people are complaining:) I was really happy to stay here, they made my staying really unforgettable and made me feel like at home :) so there is nothing to say more

All of the great-hearted people that take care of the place. They were my family for one day, they took me to the market to find ingredients for the dinner we later all shared together. I wouldn't have imagined such nice things to happen. Also the Riad is extremely beautiful clean and up to date. If you're thinking about going to a 5 star hotel, you're gonna miss an experience much better. If you come here, try to contact them with days in advance, they will go and pick you up so you don't get lost in the tiny beautiful streets
Not being able to stay longer! Everything was perfect. The location is the best, with one of the main squares, at Bab Rcif and you have everything you need in just a few steps.

We arrange a taxi with the property using booking messages, and they gave us the price, but never said anything after that. We got to the airport and nobody was waiting for us. We were lost and trying to find the place for almost an hour. When we finally get there the owner told us that his account was hacked so he was not expecting us, he was not prepared and also that the price was wrong. So we supposedly paid to the hackers. He tried to make us pay extra, 35€ daily, but that extra fee will be almost the total price that we paid for the whole stay. He was super nervous, and acting weird. We tried to be empathetic with his situation (if that was true) but was impossible for him to understand or have a quit conversation so we decided to left. We have to find another place at the moment, by ourselves in a new city, with the whole city fully booked. And we lost the money that we paid for booking the room, nobody takes responsibility nor the hostal, nor booking. Totally dissapointed.

Riad was newly renewed, spacious and clean, so were the rooms. Nice view from the roofrop.
I don't like writing negative reviews, however the man who looked after the property (claimed to be the owner too, but I don't believe it) was ridiculous and made my stay more than uncomfortable.
First, I arrived after 5pm. My room wasn't ready, even though I wrote I will be there at 3-4pm. The "owner" apologized and claimed that they are still cleaning the room and he still have to bring some toilet paper. After 30 minutes of waiting, the paper was still not there when I entered the room. I did not get the keys to the room - moreover, the room could not even be closed because the door did not close properly. Nor was I given the keys to the front door of the riad. I was quite dissatisfied and when I left the riad this guy was running after me and pitiedly begged to book me another hotel, just not to write negative reviews. At first I thought it was okay, I said I won't do it, but it wasn't over. On the first evening, I knocked for 20 minutes to get inside. There was still no paper (even though I asked for it few times), but at least he fixed the door and I was given a keys to my room, but still not for the riad itself.
Even though I booked the breakfast option, he told me on the first morning that there was no breakfast (??!!).
On the second day, he was beyond rude to my friend who entered the riad just to wait 2 minutes for me on the patio- even though the day before he was acting like his best friend. In the evening, he finally brought me toilet paper... And asked me (at 10pm!) if I can switch the room with the other guests because it's a couple and they are not satisfied with having 2 separate beds!
The worst thing that the guy was smoking hashish ALL THE TIME on the patio. He was all the time stoned and when he was afraid I would write a negative review, he was becoming paranoid! All the time ridiculous excuses why something doesn't work as it should, all the time he was talking nonsense.

the Staff was so nice and welcoming, the room was quit nice and beautiful.
there was a guy who was really annoying, slept exactly next to our window knocked on our door twice a day and invited us for dinner and then asked us to pay for it.
he was a guest for the workers though, but he was absolutly the reason we left Fés.

The owner Mohammad was probably the best Host I ever had, incredibly accommodating and nice, we drank Tee together, we had Tangin with some friends, he showed me around in the confusing streets of the Medina, he organized a swimming trip for me and another guest, he made sure I felt well during my entire stay.
The Location is great, it’s in the heart of the Medina but since there is one street going there, you only have to walk 2 min to the nearest Taxi station
The room was spacious and clean, so was the bathroom.
The bed was also very comfortable.
And all of that for an incredibly low price, if I ever come back to Fes I know where to stay
Ps. it says they don’t have Wifi, but they do have one
It’s not easy to find in the confusing streets, but the owner will pick you up at the nearest bigger square and bring you to the place
