This was our very first holiday away on a beach resort; very easy to get to from main land to experience that "island life".
Heaps of water activities included which was amazing.
The resort has authentic fiji dishes aswell as some home comforts, great selection of cocktails.
The property needs some TLC, some fresh paint and the decking is also rotting in places, the outside blubs need replacing. The jet skis looked worn. Plus the pole cues need replacing desperately. The water pressure in the shower aswell as the temperature was tempormental.
Very clean and tidy, they swept up the beach everyday and kept it pristine.
The staff were so accommodating; tom, emma and luke were absolute stars! We were able to check in early and check out abit later which was perfect for us, management really kept us at ease when we had any special requests.
Overall a cery memorable experience!

Incredibly nice people make you feel welcome. Dated, but comfortable, rooms and mediocre breakfast could be improved. It is a nice respite from boring Nadi for those on a budget and only 45 minutes from airport via taxi and water taxi. The beach is good but the pool is small. Clean around buildings, but garbage ridden further away.

The team at this resort were so lovely and humble. A perfect place to stay if you are looking to switch off for a few days. Every morning we were greeted with smiles and a chat.
The island has so much potential, but it's downfall is the amount of rubbish that has accumulated. The staff spent each morning cleaning litter that had washed up on the beach, obviously not their fault but kudos to them for trying.
We were a bit disappointed as we didn't have hot water for the time we stayed, although it didn't ruin our stay.
Snorkeling near the island was fun, plenty of coral for schools of fish to hang out.
Opportunities to go to and from bekana to the mainland all throughout the day and night no questions asked, even if the boat has just returned and the tide is low.

Liked 5 min boat ride to and from island. Staff excelent.

This property is not professionally managed. Very disorganised. Food quality is very poor. Pool is very small. Staff is not trained. No drinking water is provided in the room. Bed sheets and bed covers are not ironed and cleaned.

Had the best time with the unbelievably best staff! It was so amazing that we are returning next year. The staff was SO FRIENDLY! Staying on Bekana Island was PERFECT! It was peaceful, friendly, had amazing food and drinks and the staff was so friendly that they felt like family! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING AT BELA VULO RESORT IF WANT TO RELAX AND STAY AWAY FROM LARGE CROWDS AND JUST TAKE IN THE BEAUTY OF FIJI!

Room 1 was outstanding. staff and food were excellent. Karsika is an outstanding chef. Va, Matthew and all the staff were great. And a nice pool. Unfortunately the amount of rubbish present in this area is distressing. Including the water so snorkelling was disappointing. Most of it seems to come from across the main land drains. If you get a taxi make sure you tell them the boat pick up is about opposite the TANOA HOTEL. not the other marina.

The staff were incredibly nice, the pizza is good, and the transport to and from the island is convenient. That’s all I can say positively about the resort.
The upholstery in our room (sheets, chairs…) was dirty and stained. Most of the water park features are not in use, and are sitting uninflated on the grass. The restaurant is a bit dirty, and full of equipment that speaks to earlier glory days (e.g. a foosball table and DJ equipment in the corner, dance floor lights on the ceiling). The Fijian Bures listed in their ad appeared to us to be being lived in full time. The beach at the resort limits was covered in garbage, and there is a garbage burn right behind the garden bures. Their website lists a spa as one of the amenities, but when I asked three separate staff about it, none had any idea what I was talking about.
We booked two nights but only stayed one. It really has the feeling of a pandemic casualty - a place that was great and affordable, but has gone to seed since. While I feel bad for the owners, and found the staff to be lovely, I would by no means recommend staying there
4.0 / 5.0
We spend 2 nights and the bure was really pretty and spacious! There weren’t many activities to do on the island and as soon you were at the limits of the resort, the beach was so dirty with rubbish thrown everywhere.

I was under the impression that I would be able to walk out my door and jump in the ocean, unfortunately that was not the case as the beaches were lined with trash consistently, so we just sat on our porch and watch the garbage float on by. I do not blame this "resort" for being in the direct path of a "trash current" but with this being our first time in Fiji, I wish this would have been in other reviews. I have a few other complaints like the food, the cocktails (they put olives in the pina colada), the burning of trash on the island, the pool being closed the entire time with no heads up, for example, but the condition of the beach makes me not want to return. We tried looking at other hotels after night one but everything was booked or extremely expensive. I hate posting this review about a small, family owned hotel but if swimming in the ocean or sitting on a lovely, clean beach is what you are looking for, this is not the place for you.

A picture tells a thousand words. If you are happy to stay here you are welcome. We left after one night. Management and owner would not speak to us about the issues so have effectively taken our $1140 AUD and provided nothing. Expedia tried to get us a refund but to no avail.

Overall - you pay for what you get but I feel it is value for money. If you pay double or triple you get to stay on Denarau but at the same time, you get no character there. This place has everything that you need without the bells and whistles.
Room - average. Beddings are a bit worn out but clean. We stayed in a beachfront room and it was really spacious. Aircon made a bit of noise but worked well.
Service - great - what you need to realise about most of Fiji is that people are super laid back. They are happy to help but they are not constantly bugging you to buy things, see if you need anything or going out of their way. However, if you ask them for something or to do anything, they will happily comply. They checked most days if they wanted our room serviced and if they didn’t, if I just asked, it was done. I personally don’t like changing sheets and towels everyday because I don’t do this at home and so bad for the environment.
Food - limited menu however, you can go to the main island anytime. They pick and drop you as many times as you need. The main land has many more options but note that Fiji itself has limited choices. visit The Boat Shed and Nan Yang. Generally the food at the resort was yum.
Activities - kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkelling and water slides were free with stay. jet skiing was not worth it as they have really regulated the speed due to a previous incident. Pool was good but not for little kids as deep.
Overall - definitely worth our money

Small resort and ideal if you are wanting a quiet / peaceful getaway with some basic activities at the resort. Not fancy/high end, but clean, well maintained, friendly staff, and general needs covered. Was ideal for our family of 5 (2 adults x3 children ages 16, 13, 10). Our kids had a fantastic time with the water activities and 'one on one' support from the lifeguards. Boat transfer to and from Lautoka easy and fantastic 24/7. We loved our stay.

They have given up on keeping the amenities in good condition. The water park looked decrepit and cheap. The parking area for the boat should be more developed and obvious. Staff was very kind, infrastructure needs help

Lovely friendly staff. Easy access to mainland.

The property has potential but is not being run well. Book only if you are ok with an adventure.
They lost the only key to our room and we waited almost 2 hours for them to break into the room...
We never got a key. The keys are kept in a plastic bin at the bar and they said this has happened frequently.
Finally we asked for our welcome drink and while waiting a mouse strolled by in the dining room.
Room was fine, pool was cute, beach has potential.
We did not feel like they were prepared for us at all and we did not feel welcome.

Belo Vula was in a lovely location. We spent most of our time relaxing by the beach or by the pool. Not too many food choices to cater for all meals for multiple days but the food that is available is good. It was disappointing that there was no desserts or ice creams available at all!
No wifi available in the rooms but we saw this as a benefit as it meant it was more relaxing.

This was so convenient to get to, with easy access to Lautoka at any time, but we still spent almost all of our time at the resort, by the pool sunbathing and reading, kayaking or stand up paddleboarding. It was perfectly relaxing and exactly what we needed!

A beautiful take-away in the middle of the nature. Super friendly staff, good food (had the fijian dishes), most of the cabins are sea-front - beautiful! The city in front (Lauroka) mas not much to do so you gotta travel 50min to Port Denarau for the boat trips, I didn’t mind as me and my husband wanted to stay away from the busy areas - very recommended!
4.0 / 5.0
We were warmly welcomed after a long journey and found out we had a free room upgrade to a sea view family bure (travelling as a couple) and the bure was stunning.
The staff were all really friendly and we would love to give a shout out to Joey, who is an absolute diamond and made us feel really at home.
There are LOTS of activities at the resort which we would highly recommend you do, any activities that don’t involve a motor (snorkelling, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing) are included in your room, and the motor ones are very reasonably priced (15 minute jet ski FJD75).
The only real downside of the resort which we were struck with was the food. Breakfast was good but basic, food was reasonably priced and cooked ok, but the choice available was main thing. The All Day menu was all quite standard, simple food and didn’t change. The Dinner specials menu (which supplements the all day menu) also stayed the same for the duration of our stay and was pretty uninspiring. As foodies, we had exhausted the decent menu options by about three days in.
Overall, we loved our stay at the Belo Vula resort, and would recommend it especially for families. Just be wary of food choice and bring a lot of insect spray!

We had wonderful stay at Belo Villa Resort. The staffs were amazing, helpful and welcoming. A great special thanks to Joey and water sports manager (forgot her name). There were many food options. The food was delicious.
The beach at the property is not clean, not a fault to property though.

Nice place, very friendly staff. The boat from Lautoka is for free to get to your accommodation. You can go there and back anytime you like. You can borrow kayak, paddle board or snorkeling gear for free. In the restaurant there is pool table or darts. Average food and simple breakfast. Bring a mosquito repellent.

The highlight of my time in Fiji. Lovely food, drink and staff. An uncrowded, quiet, restful place to recharge.

If you're looking for a quiet place away from the tourist spots, Belo Vula Resort (BVR) is the place for you. Located on a private island outside of Lautoka, BVR is remote enough to escape "mainland" life, either for a quick day-trip or a week-long vacation, without being too far removed from shopping and dining. To get to the facilities, you take a ferry from the mainland to Bekana Island. Once on the island, you'll notice the open dining hall and bar. Drink and dinner specials offer a variety of new tastes to expand your palate. I found the prices to be very reasonable and did I mention the chefs were amazing? It's easy to see why locals sometimes come to the island to unwind and eat well.
To the right of this building, you'll find the bures (kind of like villas) for guests. The "Beach Front Bures" can accommodate families (a double/queen bed and two twin beds) who want to be close to the quieter beach.
To the left of the main building are bures for day-trippers and the Activities Center where you can select some popular activities like snorkeling and kayaking. There is also an outdoor gym with light weights should you feel like working out on vacation.
But the absolute best part of staying at BVR is the people. The staff were super friendly and there whenever we needed them. By the time my trip ended, I felt like my family grew. The farewell performance by the staff moved me to tears, happy and sad all at once. Can't wait to go back!

The staff are welcoming and warm. The property and bure, especially the bathroom, need total renovation.
The food was very disappointing.
Location convenient to city and supplies.
Snorkeling disappointing.

Very disappointed with Belo Vula Resort, so much so we left after 2 nights of a 7 night stay (without a refund).
Food - breakfast was terrible and other meals were basically a choice between pizza or chicken. Not suitable for vegetarians at all (or anyone that likes good food). No fresh seafood options, snacks or desserts.
Accommodation - very basic but OK.
Island - could be great but was really dirty with rubbish everywhere on the beach and in the water. Seems the resort are more keen to get day trippers onto the island than looking after people staying in the accommodation. Limited activities for kids and the pool was full of day trippers.
Staff - friendly & pleasant.
Overall it was an expensive let down - this place could be amazing but there is a real lack of care and focus on important things. Would not recommend and will not return.

All the staff are incredibly friendly. Beach is mediocre. Food is really limited and awful. Free breakfast is almost non existent. Main lodge can use a makeover. Boat service to and from mainland is reliable and punctual.
2.0 / 5.0
Positives: friendly staff & clean cabin on beach
Negatives:
-very little vegetarian food choice
-breakfast was meant to be from 7am till 10am but at 8am there was no breakfast unless asked for. No plates, no cups, no juices, empty dirty jam jars attracting flies
-the director, Robert, advised we could request vegetarian breakfast options. When we did this, we were told that was not available
-the island boat is often not available from the mainland later in the evening. The manager advised that the resort has a security person on the mainland who would call the island to advise that we are waiting to be picked up but the security person on the mainland had no phone so we sometimes had to wait until a boat was coming back or get a taxi driver to call the island for us.
-we were not taken through a check-in process advising of any of the resort facilities. On our final day, we overheard another guest being taken to another part of the island to snorkel. We were never advised of this option
- we had to ask for tea, coffee, soap &toilet paper refills most days as it was not done when the room was cleaned
- Despite designated signs, day visitors still use the same area as overnight guests. There was often a large mess, beer bottles, cans, dirty plates outside our cabin,& noise from day visitors & our deck chairs being used by day visitors so being unavailable to us
-manager was told we needed the boat take us to the mainland at 6am for our flight. It came at 6h30am

Belo Vula is an outstanding resort, and has isolated island feels with world class service. If you're looking for an affordable but superb island escape with the beach at your feet, service to anywhere you want then look no further. Joeli and the team are seriously awesome and will go above and beyond and will make you feel like family! I will defintiely be back again :)

The staff were so friendly and we had a lovely stay at Belo Vula. Highly recommend for the facilities of the resort and the proximity to the mainland

Everyone was extremely friendly. They knew my name from the get go. It such a small island you almost feel like your a guest at a private home. Not a lot of excitement, just laid back relaxation. Friendly bartenders, beautiful water, good food, incredible views, and a private boat to the mainland whenever you want it. I was blown away with the experience, and I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

It is a wonderful boutique resort if you are looking for a quiet holiday. It is not too commercialized and yet just couple minutes boat ride away from Lautoka city where you could find great Chinese restaurants. This resort is locally owned and only have about 10 bures. So people knows each other very quickly and kids made friends easily. We stayed at beachfront bure that is very spacious. Shower is pretty good. We sit under the porch watch the sunset while children play together on the beach. A true credit to the owner. It is definitely a holiday experience that will be remembered.

From the boat ride to the island to the really kind farewells at the end of it, we loved our stay. Such a beautiful little island with a handful of bures at an unbelievable price. We were in Bure #4 - open the door and theres the water. There are kayaks and snorkeling equipment available, lovely staff and its just a quick 5-min boatride over to Lautoka, a really nice city with plenty of shopping, parks, restaurants, etc. Wed just come from Suva which is far more chaotic (and rainy!), lots more in-your-face hustling and peddling - which is fine, but it was exhausting after awhile - whereas Lautoka felt much more laid back. If you want to truly relax without being too far from an urban hub, I cant recommend this place highly enough.

This island has everything I like for an idea holiday, a picturesque view, a conform room, a group of friendly staff but have giving me enough space for myself. It was such a wonderful holiday, I would highly recommend it for a holiday escape.

Very quiet & peaceful. Great food, amazing staff. Free use of kayaks, SUPs & snorkeling equipment if staying on the island.Got treated like family. Free boat transport to Lautoka which was a cool 10 min trip. So handy for shopping, browsing, restaurants & a new cinema. Nice coral & fish feeding from the jetty. You could literally fall out of bed & be on the beach, amazing. Nice touch with hammocks right by the water in the shade of palm trees. We had a truly super week to wind down & relax. Already planning our return to this little piece of paradise.
