We had chosen the accommodation carefully as my husband is disabled and were delighted to find a BUNGALOW in Nether Stowey. We were so looking forward to our stay but on arrival we discovered the accommodation was not a bungalow despite the site stating very clearly, as it still does, that it is a bungalow so totally unsuitable for our needs and we clearly couldn't stay there.
The description of this being a BUNGALOW is totally untrue. Both the Cambridge Essential Dictionary and the Essential English Dictionary state that a bungalow is " a house that has all it's rooms on one level" which is what we were expecting. This accommodation had a small galley kitchen and a small living area on the ground floor but all other accommodation up a steep staircase. Definitely NOT a bungalow. We were unable to stay there and had to try to find alternative accommodation which was extremely difficult although we eventually managed to find a room in a Premier Inn. The owner of the Old House Cottages, who is presumably responsible for the description of his accommodation, said he had our money but made no suggestion that he would refund any of it. (£700+) We felt very cheated and still do.

The hosts were out of this world. Cossy gardens. What's there not to like?

Great location near walks and countryside. Beautiful gardens and very friendly hosts.
Highly recommended stay, thankyou

The accommodation was clean and bright and the location was good with a number of things to be seen in the area.
The house keepers quarters and the cottage generally were both difficult of my son who is 6'4" to move around because of the low door heights, beams and the sloping ceilings in particular.

A lovely peaceful place to stay! The accomodation was quirky and full of character. The outside garden was beautiful and well kept and a lovely space to relax in. The general atmosphere was welcoming and friendly and the hosts were helpful and friendly. Absolutely wonderful. Would happily stay there again!
I cannot think of anything that we didn't like!

The Stable Cottage is ideally situated in the centre of Nether Stowey and a good base for walking on the Quantock Hills. It had everything we needed for a week's stay, including off-street parking. Manor and Ann are excellent hosts.
It was a little dark in the cottage - but then the weather for the week we stayed was rather wet with not much sunshine!

The cottage was absolutely beautiful, and comfy and great location absolutely loved it.

I stayed for three nights in the self catering Garden Wing which has it's own little section of patio, kitchen/dining room, living room, bathroom and bedroom. It had everything you would need for a relaxing stay, as I did, or as a base for exploring the walks in the area. I imagine the acre garden would be amazing to sit in when the weather is dryer. The local shop is very much a tardis and very friendly staff, as are the locals of Nether Stowey.

Really lovely little cottage, in a great location. Lovely hosts, really welcoming. Cottage really comfortable and warm, and made a great base to travel out from. Very comfy beds! Great to be able to park, and so peaceful.
Wifi a little up and down, but think that's the area in general.

Wonderful garden; including hedgehogs; great location for hills, walks etc, very pretty village
Amble carparking near to rooms
Heated towel rail in bathroom
Spacious for 2 people
Cheerful owner / wife
Decor a touch tatty in places eg cracked tiles, visible screws on bath panel, paint on tiles, flaking plaster in a (very) few places, kitchen dim with only small light.
Limited catering in village - only one pub had restricted menu.
Not ideal for people with dogs really - light coloured carpets and white sofa / chairs. The separate patio was not dog proof.

Location was perfect as a base to visit other areas. Village had amenities and pleasant pub. Hosts were incredibly welcoming, allowed us to use a paddling pool and swing for our toddler, their gardens were a fantastic bonus

It was our honeymoon and the card and prosecco 🥂 were a lovely touch. We have stayed here before and will happily come back
The gardens are fantastic the seats scattered about are carefully placed so you aren't looking over each other.
The village is small but the shops well stocked, the butchers we particularly loved.

The location was absolutely perfect for the walking and bird watching that we wanted to do in our break. The Old House, Nether Stowey is on the main street of the small town and the moment we arrived we were delighted to find a large courtyard for off road parking and behind that an acre of garden with lovely lawns, beautiful flowers and seating for visitors.
It was a perfect place to stay and there was nothing that we didn't like

Cottage was clean and well equipped with things like cooking utensils, crockery, matches and logs for fire, hand wash, pint of milk in fridge, packet of posh biscuits in kitchen etc. Clear COVID-19 precautions taken. Friendly owners Comfortable bed and clean bedding. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again.

Great size and spotlessly clean with great facilities the bed was very comfortable and the surrounding garden was amazing will definitely return in summer to see it in full bloom overall a great little cottage would highly recommend and will definitely return
Unfortunately we couldn’t have a real fire no fault of the hosts who explained they were waiting to have the chimney swept in time for the cold weather so a safety issue prevented us using this but can imagine it would make the space even cosier when lit
