Good room and facilities, nice breakfast. Water pressure on shower was disappointing

Lovely hotel, comfy and quiet. Friendly staff, value for money, within walking distance of town centre

Overall not a bad hotel but was expecting a little better. A bit tired in places, but generally ticked all the boxes for a business trip.

My stay was ok but my room STANK of cigarette smoke - like the old hotels from days when smoking was allowed. I'm not a smoker and the smell hit me every time I walked in the room. The food was average - breakfast was limited and dinner - £25-30 for a main course - the pork belly was very dry and salty and the lamb shank and trimmings were salty. The service was excellent and I can't fault the staff themselves.

It was quiet staff was amazing throughout the hotel

We had an overnight stay with our 2 kids after spending the day at the West Midlands Safari Park, what a lovely hotel it was. A proper country feel.
We had a fast check in, all very friendly and welcoming. The room was great for just an overnight with a sofa bed for the kids. We had a garden view and on the ground flour. The bathroom was a wet room, very modern and spacious.
Breakfast/dining area was beautiful, over looking the garden and terrace area. A great choice for breakfast(full English, pastries, cereals, fruit etc) and lovely coffee. We would love to come back again and maybe stay for a couple of nights.
It was the perfect stay, much better than staying in a sky rise chain hotel any day.
Would definitely recommend.

Excellent property staff very helpful and accommodating ideal lovely woodland setting with peaceful surroundings

Fantastic hotel clean and very friendly staff, second time here will definitely use again.

Arrived at midnight. Room had been left with windows open and lights on. So many bugs!
Asked for another room. Was put into a double but there were 3 of us.
Eventually given a third room after being asked to wait in the very messy bar area. Was past 1am before we had a room.
Breakfast was badly staffed. Had to ask for milk, cutlery, a spoon, plates. No pasteries restocked, no fried eggs or hash browns restocked. After already asking for 4 separate things already, I didn't fancy asking for even more.
Should have been nice but obvious there are not anywhere near enough competant staff to provide any level of service.

It was excellent

This is a fantastic hotel, really helpful and friendly staff. Our room was huge with comfortable beds, the room was very clean and had black out curtains. No mini fridge in the room which would have been nice. The restaurant and bar are gorgeous rooms, lovely decor throughout the hotel. The grounds are a nice place for a stroll. Brrakfast was fantastic, lots of choice. I would stay here again.

Beautiful hotel with very friendly and courteous staff.

Had a lovely 1 night stay. Well signed so easy to find, nice car park, disappointed with long wait in reception as no receptionist around and a shame you have to pay to park. Fancy big manor. Nice quiet room so was the peaceful rest we needed, good tv, amazing big comfy bed. Nice view of the side of the building / trees. Very happy with our stay. Was easy to get in and out of the manor. Enjoyed walking in the woods. Easy to get to kfc and tesco.

The shower was lacking in pressure and the water was cold when showered in the afternoon.
Television didn’t work and stained carpet

The hotel amd grounds are nice, unfortunate the executive room i booked was poor. Its a little run down, the hot water took nearly 10 mins to heat up and the water pressure in the shower was dreadful. More leaked out of the hose than the head. The bar service took an age, they ran out of Guiness, the Worthingtons was flat. When they serviced the room there was no milk or coffee left, when i went to reception i was told they had run out? I mean it's a week before Xmas don't you think you should have stock?

Worst hotel I’ve probably stayed at ever, the room was moldy and damp, not very clean with coffee rings on the table, the whole hotel smells like an old pub, the shower pressure was horrible, would definitely avoid.

Had to pay a £5 parking fee which I wasn't aware of. If it had been communicated I hadn't picked up on it. This I felt was just a bit annoying.

For the price this hotel was fine. But everything was a little dated. The room was freezing on arrival but soon remedied by turning the radiator on - perhaps leave this on low at least.
The water situation for the shower wasn’t great and there was a sign saying it was due to the age of the building etc. but I’m not convinced.
The food in the restaurant was very good and we also saw people eating huge portions in the bar too.

From the moment we arrived we received a warm and friendly welcome. We did the pre-checkin so had the key immediately and went to the room.
It was a standard room, not big but sufficient in size. Good facilities in the room, tea/coffee making, biscuits too. There was a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board in the room too.
Bathroom had small amount of soaps to use.
I used the small gym on site too which was quite nice with all the essential equipment and items free for residents to use 24/7.
The self serve buffet breakfast was very nice. Bread, pastries, cold meats, cereals, cooked food and juices. All very nice. Soya milk was made available on request.
Some really small points - lightning in the room (132) could be a little better especially around the wardrobe, and I didn't consider the bed to be super luxurious. It wasn't terrible but maybe time for a replacement. And, perhaps have soya milk readily available to all at breakfast.
The most positive point was the service, all the staff we met were really friendly and made our stay at the Southcrest a really nice one.

Beautiful hotel. Pleasant staff but sometimes understaffed and need leading on being proactive to solve issues. Nice for a romantic break lovely breakfast fantastic value.
3.0
Nice enough for a brief stay. Room was clean and functional. Carpets and some chair coverings really need changing…there are stains and marked and make the place look quite rundown. Breakfast was nice although the flow around things meant we were continually queuing and tripping over staff but was good food.
2.0
Large room, bathroom mirror light & extractor fan not working. Didn't affect stay. Pillows hard & uncomfortable but comfortable bed.
Corridor carpets dirty & stained, need replacing .
Breakfast selection not as good as other hotels stayed at with same room rates, poor fresh fruit selection.
Young staff, only 1 really bothered to engage. Training & management support wouid help in my management experience.
3.0
Poor breakfast experience. Lots of guests queuing and food not coming out quickly enough. Gave up in the end.

The hotel itself was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was disappointing. Cold plates for a cooked breakfast which made everything which was already lukecwarm go cold. Not worth £10.95 a head.

Excellent food service and choice. The best part of my meal was taste and service. All staff were attentive and helpful and made sure I was cared for
Room was clean and comfortable. This is a stately house well loved and looked after ( don’t expect new clinical rooms) steeped in history wonderful Thankyou very much

Hotel was very nice and so were the staff but there seemed to not be enough serving staff so the service wasn’t great.

Enjoyed this very pleasant property, loved the dining room, the bar, having drinks on the terrace, and walking around the garden and local woodland walk. The rooms were peaceful and beautiful. We had a brilliant stay and would love to return. All staff were fantastic, particularly the restaurant manager who was wonderfully pleasant, smiley and cheerful at all times, day and night. We loved every minute of our stay. Thank you.

This hotel promises alot from the images shown on the website. In truth following our stay in family room 124. I am left amazed how it has a 4 star rating. Room 124 has issues with shoddy maintenance and poor cleanliness. After folding the sofa bed up to enable more room following a nights sleep a heavily stained and ripped mattress was found. Also electrical sockets were broken and damaged and there was no lock on the bathroom door! Stay here in room 124 if you want a poor experience.

Had an overnight stay and we’re happy with the hotel. Friendly staff made it!

Beds uncomfortable. Place feels slightly dated. Dinner nice, breakfast mediocre

We were greeted by a lovely receptionist who was new and she was the only one who was smiling during our stay. Our first night was great and quiet, but the second night our neighbours were really noise late night in the evening and early morning. We had tea from the bar on one of the days, but unfortunately the cups had chips on them and very extremely dusty. Apart from that everything else was average.

They booked 2 rooms on different floors - Asked for same floor - denied
Breakfast finished at 9 am whereas timings were 10 am.
