Good location. Nice hotel. Peaceful relaxing break. Close to everything unless you can't do hills. Plenty stops on the way up for breaks though.

Lovely clean hotel with a great pool & our Grandson loved going in the observatory & want to know when we will be going again.

My first time back at The Stirling Highland Hotel in about 12 years and my first solo trip. This was also my first time staying overnight with my dog and I was met with nothing but friendliness by all the staff I encountered. Once I checked into my room I was met with a dog bed, food and water bowls, along with a packet of treats for my dog (which he loved!!)
My first morning at breakfast, the staff member that was stood welcoming guests directed me over to the part of the lounge that is dog friendly and also very kindly offered to wait with my dog whilst I went to get my breakfast from the buffet.
Throughout my stay I felt very looked after and welcomed. Staff both in passing and delivering room service were kind enough to stop and make a fuss of my dog (which he loved!) He was very much a looked after guest himself.
I will definitely be staying at The Stirling Highland Hotel with my dog again and would 100% recommend it to other dog owners.

We had a lovely stay at the Stirling Highland hotel! It was an easy walk to the sights we wanted to see and very conveniently located to many shops and restaurants, as well as pubs! The rooms we had were very neat and tidy and the courtyard of the hotel was beautiful. The hotel also offered a delicious breakfast which we greatly enjoyed. We had a wonderful time!
4.2
Great location , decor was dated and lacked atmosphere bathroom could do with a major upgrade
4.2
Beautiful historic building located withing walking distance from shops, restaurants, and castle. We had a guest with a mobility scooter and he was able to access all the sights from the hotel. The rooms are comfortable, clean and nice. Convenient parking onsite.

Radiator in room not working, hotel full so couldn’t change room. Window also didn’t fully close so draughty. Contacted receptionist, and after maintenance man couldn’t fix radiator was given a portable electric heater which helped. Room was also a little shabby with chopped pain on radiator and wallpaper around it a little loose. Paint work on stairs also needed some attention. Not as nice for a 4 star property as it used to be. However, breakfast and leisure facilities excellent. Parking and location also good.

This hotel is an absolute embarrassment for Scotland!
It’s dirty, has not been maintained since the 70s, its got mold, dust and dirt - which is tried disguised with large amounts of air fresheners. The reception area is ok - but the rooms are absolutely disgusting!
If it had two stars, I would have to accept it, - three stars I would be greatly disappointed! That this hotel has four stars is beyond belief and an absolute disgrace.
The decor and carpets of the room dates back to the 70s at best, - and has never been properly cleaned since. The overall decor of the room is terrible, cheap, old and dirty. The same goes for the bathrooms. - I can write bathrooms in plural as we had to change room, when the ceiling in our first bathroom started to leak water! This happened just after we had gone to bed, and we heard water dripping from the bathroom ceiling. We walked to the reception to notify them, ( - the 70s telephone in the room was not working … ) Upon notifying about the water leak, we were put in an identically terrible room. The staff did not apologise but made us be thankful for the fact that they provided us with a new room…
It was quite obvious to see that there had been repeated water damage in the ceiling, so I guess this is normal procedure for the staff.
Don’t make the mistake of booking here !
The experience of this terrible hotel ruined the end of an otherwise brilliant vacation to Scotland, do not let it ruin yours !

Great location easy access to Stirling Castle, church of the Holy Rood, The old jail, several dining and dining establishments. Fantastic staff very welcoming and accommodating. Cool and unique converted building.
4.2
This hotel needs upgrades. The tub faucet had rust around it, the sheets were yellowed, the door jam had been gouged and not repaired, only painted over. Went down for the breakfast buffet stay 9am, all the fried eggs were gone and the rest was barely lukewarm.

Tired
Expensive for what you get
Food average
No lifts for bsgs

The hotel is in a good location but it needs some updating. The bar area and restaurant are small with limited options/menu. Check in staff didn't provide any information and we had to figure out where things were on our own. Our beds had old mattresses on the floor under our bed.
4.2
A lacklustre 4 star which is now probably a 3 - fine for what it was but I suspect it has seen better days
4.2
Hotel location is good and central in Stirling. Room was old and tired looking and we had a shower that didn't work.
4.2
We had a very pleasant stay the bed was great and quiet also, very exquisite building only stayed one night but it was similar to a rabbit warren, I would have liked to have explored more.
My next visit will be to the spa on a girls overnight stay.
4.2
Great location, and excellent accommodations. Staff very friendly abs helpful. Would stay here again.

The hotel is falling apart at the seams. The on-off knob of my shower did not work, requiring extraordinary force while gripping the knob with a towel to turn the shower off. I informed the technician who was inspecting the rooms, about it in the morning, but nothing was done the whole day, leaving me to repeat the "precarious turning off of the shower" performance on second night. To top it all, the TV turned on loudly by itself at 11:00pm while we were just dozing off!!! The room condition is poor, not even a single hook to hang anything in the bathroom.

Arrived very late but had phoned ahead and had been assured the night staff would welcome us. There were NO night staff at reception but printed instructions to pick up a phone to contact them. After a quarter of an hour without response, my wife went walkabout and discovered someone setting the breakfast tables. They came and checked us in, during which process one of his colleagues appeared yawning from the reception back office. Draw your own conclusions.
The bathroom in our room was very tired and in need of complete replacement.
We already knew the hotel was very busy as it had been hard to park in the car park as it was nearly full of Netherlands-registered MGs.
The next morning the cooked breakfast was left congealing as the continental breakfast was hammered by the Dutch MG owners club. There weren't enough serving people and the staff couldn't keep up. The supply of food was inadequate. After tea and toast we went out into Stirling and had a better breakfast sat in the street.
At checkout we raised these issues with reception. In fairness, the lady on duty apologised for the problems on our arrival and said they would be addressed.
However she was surprised to be told that our bathroom was worn out and positively defensive about the terrible breakfast service.
Apparently they were fully booked.
Presumably it caught them by surprise when everyone in a large group, touring Scotland on the same schedule, needed breakfast at the same time.
We won't stay here again.
4.2
Rooms in need of a refresh. But service was good and food ok. Biggest positive was location- a short walk (quite steep) from the station and close to the castle and other attractions in the old town
4.2
The location of this hotel is perfect, at the top of the hill and directly in the shadow of Stirling Castle. The room was simple but with comfortable bedding and a large bathroom. The amazing building with its history as a former school, gorgeous lobby, plentiful free parking, great included hot breakfast (including all the elements of a full Scottish breakfast!), again the LOCATION all make this hotel a great choice to see the best of Stirling.
4.2
Beautiful, traditional hotel. Very Scottish. Very friendly staff. Dinner in scholars was amazing! Breakfast equally delicious. Location of the hotel could not be much better. Sadly only stayed for one night, but will likely be back next year for another trip!
4.2
A unique characterful and historic building.
4.2
A quick visit. Loved the hotel and Stirling.
4.2
Stayed as a couples getaway. The pool is in a separate building! The bathroom is dated with chipped tiles. The furniture is dated. Food was average (only ONE vegetarian option) cocktails were nice though.
4.2
Friendly staff, room was wonderful with plenty of space. Easy walk to Stirling Castle and other sites. Restaurant had good food. Good parking and quiet.
4.2
Despite the early morning fire alarm , we would happily revisit.
Great location and nicely converted from the old school. Easy parking though tight spaces. The pool was a very welcome treat. The bar and restaurant was pleasant and not over priced. Nice quiet room , with decent fittings.
4.2
Beautiful, clean, quiet hotel in a great walkable location. Delicious food and friendly team. Great fitness and spa area.

6 week girl's trip to the UK. We loved our stay at the Stirling Highland Hotel. I loved the history! It's the perfect location to explore the town and walkable to just about everything. Comfortable beds, beautiful decor, super nice staff. If I make it back to Stirling again, I'll definitely be staying at the Stirling Highland Hotel.
4.2
Perfect location, BEAUTIFUL building, very warm and helpful staff. Parking on-site and also felt very secure.
4.2
Bathroom was old and grout was dirty. Smelled musty. Room was musty too. Bed was super lumpy.
4.2
Lovely property, staff were great - our room location wasn’t ideal but the room was nice and comfortable
4.2
bar was being remodeled so things weren’t normal. checking great. staff great. location great.
4.2
There was not an elevator (as advertised)to the rooms on the second floor so we had to drag 6 big bags of luggage up there. The layout of the hotel itself was very chopped up. The bar was closed as they were remodeling it. There is no take away coffee as they dont have plastic cups.
4.2
We were greeted warmly by the front desk staff. The on site free parking was a definite asset. Our room was clean and comfortable . The hotel is situated at the top of a big hill so walking the area proved strenuous. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was very good.
4.2
The hotel was amazing! Very clean and well appointed. The teens had a "Harry Potter" room for sleeping with a bunkbed, but they rather enjoyed it even if it was a bit cramped. The surrounds and proximity to attractions was very nice. We also enjoyed dinner on-site and it was excellent!!
4.2
Great stay, we were attending Summer Sessions so very convenient.
4.2
Unfortunately the bar area was closed due to the floor getting repaired. This was not advertised at the time of booking. The hotel is clean but very dated . I am not sure if I would stay again.
4.2
Room was excellent, doggie bed bowls and treats supplied. Over last week we have stayed at 3 hotels, but this was the best. Building fantastic. Excellent breakfast. Love this hotel.
4.2
After paying for parking for my stay, I received a parking fine! I am now having to dispute thousands of miles away!
4.2
Property had historic look and old Scottish charm but with modern and luxurious amenities. Wonderful stay and within walking distance to Sterling Castle which is a fabulous visit
