I booked the hotel for two nights and got confirmation from Hotel.com. When we arrived at the hotel we were directed by a sign that we have to check in at the diner next to the Hotel. There were no customer in the diner when I went in but was told by the gentleman at the counter to wait while he’s finishing some orders. It took him about fifteen minutes before he helped me. It took him another five minutes to tell me that he couldn’t find my reservation! Despite my showing him my reservation number and credit card charge email confirmation, he said he couldn’t help me since he couldn’t find my reservation. I asked him to call his supervisor and he did and then told me his supervisor couldn’t help me neither. Since it was late at night and we need a place to rest so I ask him if we could just book a room. And he told me he Couldn’t because he “was only a cook and it was not his job to to help me get a room and he didn’t know how anyway”! Lucky for us we found a room in another hotel a few blocks away.

We had everything we needed and were comfortable. We were confused about the checkin but we just missed the sign saying the check in was in the diner.
It was quiet and we slept well.

Our room was on the back side and there was a tin barn for a view.

The people were great and the room was very clean. Overall, our stay was great, my only feedbook would be to provide the guests with blankets on the bed. It was only sheets.

It was ok. Staff are great but property is old and our room had an odor. It was clean. Needs a bit of facelift.

A look under the beds, wow! Needed much cleaning.

The staff was not friendly. The check in staff were arguing in front of us over the rooms. The 24 hour diner suddenly decided to close than miraculously reopened after we were told that the stove was down to find out the cook didn’t show up on time for his shift. There’s a sign on the mirror that reads they don’t change sheets or towels but every 3 days. So who knows if all the stuff was clean or not. Overall, it sucked.

Just an average hotel room served it’s purpose as a place to sleep

First off, I didn’t realize that this hotel basically exists for members of the Railroad. There is no front desk, we had to check in/out at Penny’s Diner next door. Our room was not made up after the first night stay. Had to notify Penny’s Diner of this the next morning as we had arrived later in the evening. Apparently they only clean rooms on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. This is a very bare bones hotel, no staff on premises and like I stated, this hotel exists for members of the railroad. Will not book this hotel again.

My stay was fine for one night but likely would choose elsewhere next time. Room was sufficiently clean and comfortable for me. Rates appropriate for property condition. Property condition appears under resourced and understaffed.

The room was clean and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. The only thing I found weird was that you had to check in and get your room key from the diner next door. It just seemed a little weird to me but overall the room was clean and comfortable.

Nice and clean. Friendly staff. And the town itself is nice.

Initially we had no hot water. The floor had not been vacuumed and there were dirty towels left behind door in the bathroom. They got the water from sue fixed and vacuumed the floor for us. They are obviously struggling with finding quality help but the manager (Josh) was doing anything and everything to fix any issues and make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

Stayed there for three days. The room was never cleaned, the sheets were never changed, towels were not available because they were in the laundry, they had to go the store to get toilet paper and the tv got one channel. Not a pleasant experience.

Take out food only on that day. Only thin blanket provided, and only 1 complete set of towels.

I really would like to be able to review this property, but the staff told us there was no room for us because the third parties overbooked the hotels in that areas. I am still working on getting my money back from Orbitz. So far no luck!

Good location between midland and big bend for overnight stay.

Short stop on my way south.
Nice place for the money.
Friendly and helpful folks.
The restaurant was good and reasonably priced.
Well lit parking.
No free breakfast covid I supposed.

Some confusion at check in at diner. Should have a separate check in desk at lodge. Side door not working with key cards. Diner ran out of advertised special. Otherwise, would stay again and recommend.

Is not bad

The check in process was pleasing. The diner was cute. Attendant was friendly.
We finished making the bed. The shower had no hot water, called the front desk, nobody ever came. So they could not fix that, nor the toilet that would not always flush.
With the other hotels in the area, I would not stay here again

The room was dirty and shower had hair in it like it hadn't been cleaned.

Booked double bed room at the hotel a week in advance, traveling with my 18yr old son who is 6’4”. I was told the double bed room all gone when I checked in at 9pm, after 7hrs of driving. And the front desk lady was so rude and condescending, made up excuses on the fly: 1. Your Expedia booking does count, because Alpine is a small place; 2 If I don’t like a one bed room I am welcome to cancel and leave - like 9pm at night I have to go back to the street and find another hotel because this greedy lady decided to double book their rooms like airline company and thought it is OK to tell a travel guest to find another hotel late at night? Their final solution is to have a roller bed for my son, we had to use an ottoman at the end so part of his legs not in the air.

The bath tub was somewhat clogged, water sits for a while before clearing.

The Hotel was exactly where we needed to be, traveling to Big Bend National Park, with side trips to Marfa Texas, Fort Davis Texas, and Terlingua Texas, we were right in the middle of all of this. The staff was great, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and having a 24 hour diner as part of the hotel was a huge plus!

Got locked out of our room every night, so we had to walk across the parking lot to the diner to go have it activated. No sheets or blankets upon arrival, toilet overflowed, and I was checked in before I even arrived.

poor bedding

Room was clean. Bed was comfortable and room had the necessities we needed. There was no take out breakfast so ate at Penny's Diner where food was good.
4.0 / 10.0
A bit unsettling to check in at a diner but friendly person. Door and hallway dated but room was adequate.
3.0 / 10.0
No breakfast available like advertised. I guess they want you to eat at the diner adjacent to the property. :(
Coffee maker broken.
Check-in was not inside property.
Bed could have used a comforter and not just a sheet as a blanket.
Fitness room closed.
Parking lot dirty.
Trash can outside property overflowing.
Staff were indifferent.
