It is a budget hotel but it did the whole 'budget hotel thing' well. Close to the bus and train stations, and the shopping area.
2.5
Clean, 5 mins walk to restaurant area of city, secure parking.
2.5
Very friendly check-in staff, there was an issue with the booking which they solved really quickly. Comfortable room and good breakfast.

Very nice hotel, excellent friendly staff
5.0
A great place to stay
3.0
Quiet spot that's pretty central to all of Calais attractions. It is fairly outdated, and the rooms are dark, but given the price point it is expected.
4.0
This hotel is very close to the train station and walk-able to beach and restaurants

We have stayed in the Metropole many times on the last night of our holiday. New to the room was a kettle, tea & coffee. A good from us. We particularly like staying here, because there is a locked garage, so we feel safe leaving things in the car on our final night in France.
4.0
Good value and location.

Very old dated hotel, but friendly staff. Close to train station, walkable to downtown area.
1.0
Friendly and informal. Able to have an evening drink at the bar.
Not so good : toilet tiny and the restaurant was closed. The advertised restaurant was a strong reason for choosing this hotel. Potential customers should check this first!

Very convenient location close to the station and bus depot in Calais. Within walking distance of the town centre. Very friendly and welcoming staff. The availability of secure parking was an attraction but it was also very safe to park on the street outside. Good value for an ivernight stay en route to the UK

The location of this hotel is fantastic !!! It is right near the main bus drop/pickup and the train station is less than 100 yards away yet you don't hear it. The front desk staff is incredibly professional and friendly. The only thing people need to be aware of is that their internet has not been working for a few months and that is something they need to make people aware of

Very helpful staff. Decor a little tired, however room & common areas immaculately clean. Would stay again.

We enjoyed our stay here. We come to Calais quite often and would stay here again.

The most helpful and amazing lady checked us in and was super helpful with both scanning and helping with ice-cubes and information

A wonderful find.

Good parking outside, helpful reception staff, good locality to explore town.

Everything was great except the bathroom, a little small and the toilet was a bit cramped, couldn’t sit straight, no room for my knees

Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. Great location. Bathrooms are a little tired. Five minutes walk from the square.

Lovely room and helpful staff.

Great place to stay, local for walking to restaurants and bars. Covered parking is a welcome.
2.5
Stayed here before and chose this time because I was travelling alone. Feels very safe. Very easy to find. Car parking undercover is payable but safe and secure.
Only downside this time was a noise like something inside the walls, could have been plumbing, don't know.
2.5
Easy to find hotel, walking distance to town to restaurants and bars. Added bonus of undercover parking for a charge. Nice rooms, great shower

We have check in hotel 11 pm but as soon as we go to room all lights gone we go asked reception to come check and he said our room have issues with lights so route and behaviour talk to us he refused change room and give money back or do something at least my children scares of darkness and in morning management of hotel just been so nasty and rude as well didn’t do nothing never ever again highly recommend don’t go to rubbish hotel like them just charge you for nothing the took money in hotel from me about tv £3.70 but no electric
So nasty

Lovely old fashioned hotel, we had the suite which was huge and would be ideal for a family. Only suggestion would be to have a fridge in the room but otherwise a great stay.
Well located being almost next door to the railway station and just a short walk into the main town.

Convenient just adjacent to new bus station with FREE BUSES in Calais. Railway station a few metres away. Very friendly bi-lingual staff. Newly decorated room with comfortable beds and fantastic new shower. Very quiet area too.
2.5
Great location, the hotel is great value for money and staff friendly.

Our room was small and cramped, the carpet threadbare and there were stains on the wall. The mattress sagged. Not in our opinion a three star hotel.

Ok for France

I've stayed in Calais a lot, but never previously at the Metropol. It is now firmly on my list and I would not hesitate to stay here again. Easy to park on the street outside. If that were full, there is the humongous free sncf car park opposite. Cheery welcome. Thoroughly comfortable room (in fact I overslept). Contrary to some older reviews, the bathroom was excellent and modern. Heating easy to adjust (and a good upvc window). Breakfast was good and the patron kindly rustled up some scrambled eggs for me. Location is mid way between old town and new town, which is v convenient - drinks are best at Le Chill in the old town; my preferred restaurant (well, estaminet) is Le Calice, towards the new town.

This hotel is a real piece of 'original' France - but so well managed and kept spotless. It's a simple place but with a pleasant bar and a breakfast room. Breakfast itself is excellent. The hotel is also within walking distance of a host of bars and restaurants.I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Calais
