Gorgeous views. The owners live on site and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. They also recommended a great local tour company (Belize Nature Travel). The food was delicious. Highly recommend.

Amazing place in the cayo. Great attention to detail, we felt right at home with the owners taking great care of us.

Super nice and helpful owners , helped us with scheduling all excursions.

I went to Belize by myself but I never felt alone. Jay & Christine (and the guests) were all so incredibly friendly.
We convened nightly fur dinner, drinks, and conversation. I would return to this resort again & again! A car is definitely needed to stay at the resort and for exploring the local area.

This is absolutely an idyllic place to stay, we left feeling like family. It's beautiful and so small that all the guests get quite friendly as well. They have many resources and can set up anything you need, and the food and drinks are delicious. You should have a car to stay here as it's a little bit out of Georgeville and a little further from San Ignacio, but I can't imagine staying in town versus this lovely friendly place. The pool is a welcome addition for a dip at the end of the day!

Property was very beautiful in all aspects, from the owners being very attentive, to the landscape and peace and quiet feel. Christine provided guidance on transportation which was very helpful! Definitely recommend this location.

We had a wonderful stay! Christine and Jay were so kind and helpful. We enjoyed an evening looking at the stars with them. Food and drinks were fantastic! This is a very peaceful place to take in the jungle views and enjoy the sky. Would return to stay here without a second thought.

The owners and staff are friendly and extremely accommodating. The property is a little slice of heaven

Excellent hosts! We arrived late in the evening for a 1-nught stay. The property was clean, the bedroims were clean and the beds were very comfortable.
As nice as the property was, the real treat was the hosts. They were exceptionally friendly, kind, and hospitable.
The banana bread and fruit for breakfast was delicious!
We will definitely be back!

Gumbo Limbo is a true oasis tucked into the jungle! Our family of five couldn't have been happier to have stayed there. The owners and hosts, Christine and Jay are an absolute pleasure. The property itself is immaculate and well appointed. Their commitment to sustainability and eco-tourism is greatly appreciated. It's obvious they care about the community around them and doing what they can to be good stewards of the land and resources of Belize. The property is a perfect jump off spot for countless adventures in the immediately surrounding area. You could easily stay here for months and not do the same thing twice.

Wonderful hosts. Beautiful resort. Tranquil location

The grounds are beautiful and the Belizean stewed chicken and homemade ice cream were awesome! As well as Jay and Chris were very attentive hosts, great people.

Great location, quit isolated which is what we came for. Easy access to the main attractions - driveway needs to be improved for better access but otherwise we had a grat time. Hosts were very kind and took care of anything we needed. Would come back again !

Very friendly owners and nice and clean.

This lodge is owned and operated by a super nice couple who go out of their way to make things great for the guests, including helping our young teens machete up some coconuts they found out hiking. It has a VERY convenient location near San Ignacio and many things to do (our favorites include the Rio Frio River sites like the caves and pools).

Our stay (2nd one) at Gumbo Limbo was AWESOME! We went with our two adolescent boys - family room was awesome with three beds. Pool was great, awesome hammocks for reading, a jungle trail to enjoy the f & f... boys went tarrantula hunting with the owner at twilight - the pool was great...amazing views and the food hit the spot everytime. Loved it and plan to go back!!

Loved staying here! Christine and Jay were amazing hosts and helped us out so much. Even before we got there, Christine reached out and gave so much info and help. The property was very nice and we loved staying there.

The best experience my mother and brother had!
I scheduled them last minute because my brother had a school open house, this was the closet place and the best decision ever!
Their customer service is beyond excellence!

Jay and Christine (owners) will treat you like family. The lodge is beautifully maintained. The nightly homemade dinners are fantastic. The location to both the exquisite falls and San Ignacio is perfect.

We had a wonderful stay at Gumbo Limbo. Steve and Mike were incredibly gracious hosts and great company. The setting was so serene and the food was fabulous. I give Gumbo Limbo the highest possible recommendation!

‘Fabulous’ was my word of the week but that is an understatement. The property was more beautiful than the pics. It is very secluded and it’s best to have a 4-wheel drive. Food and service were awesome. Hosts went out of their way to meet our every need. We felt like we were family! Overall excellent experience!

THE VIEW WAS EXCELLENT AND I'VE NEVER BEEN IN A QUIETER PLACE.

This is a very precious hotel in the Belize forest, surrounded by nature, beautiful views. We enjoyed it very much

Amazing getaway location in the jungle. Get here by 4x4 and Mike and Steve will make you feel as if you are at home. Facilities were great for our family group of 16. Food and fun at the open dining area by the pool with great views of the jungle. Amazing variety of birds and plants all around you and a dark night sky for star gazing. Easy to reach tourist sites like XUNANTUNICH and San Ignacio etc. Wish we could have stayed longer... Most memorable trip... Thank you Mike and Steve (father and son team)

This is a quaint small jungle lodge outside of Georgeville. It is on a challenging road - just don't take an economy car there! But it is beautiful, your hosts, Mike and Steve are wonderful ex-pats who can get you squared with tours and whatever else you want to do. The food was amazing and always a bit of conversation available for your afternoon time at the bar. It is small and somewhat remote, but was perfect for us!

Gumbo LImbo was fantastic. Mike and Steve were great hosts. The cabana was very comfortable,

A stay at Gumbo Limbo is like being invited into Steve's home. Very comfortable, all the staff friendly, and Steve was extremely helpful in arranging transportation and tours.

The owners are very good hosts. We had a great vacation at Gumbo Limbo, the road in a somewhat challenging but don't let that put you off. The facilities and hosts are great.

Steve and mike were great hosts and very accommodating. We felt safe there. Our rooms were clean and airy. Hot water was fleeting as solar powered, otherwise good experience

This is a extremely nice small resort (~5 rooms). The proprietor is super-helpful, the accommodations are great, and the biggest surprise is how much there is to do in this area. The common area where meals are served is super comfortable, and you get to meet pretty-much everyone staying-- from all-over. The views are great, and it really feels like you have escaped civilization. The ATM cave is not to be missed-- a memory of a lifetime. Nevertheless, despite the isolation of this property, the internet was good enough for facetime video. Only regret was not staying long enough to see everything in the area.

We loved our stay at Gumbo Limbo and were reluctant to have to leave at the end of our stay. Mike and Steve were great hosts and were able to arrange the excursions we wanted from the hotel, as well as being able to transfer us to our next destination of the port in Belize City.
The evening meals were good and we particular loved the cheesecake and the creamy onion soup. Our room was spacious and had a large patio area that was good for sitting on and the bathroom had a nice hot shower in it.
The surroundings of the hotel are wonderful with a nicely decorated bar area, beautiful gardens and a nice pool area which was great for relaxing around and for taking a dip. There is also a short path through the jungle which make a pleasant stroll.
The wifi was not great and only available in the bar area although Steve said that within the next month or so the service should improve dramatically.
We did not find being a way out of town in any way problematic and it actually proved to really enhance our stay. We thoroughly recommend Gumbo Limbo as a base for exploring the Western part of Belize.

Great place to stay. Family run. Very inviting. They treat you like family. The food was wonderful. Helped us set up day trips.

As they say here, the Gumbo Limbo Jungle Resort was UNBELIEZABLE! It is beautiful, the rooms are perfect, and the food is good. Best if all, Mike and Steve are perfect hosts. We loved every minute of our three-day stay. Mike was wonderfully patient with all our questions and both he and Steve had great recommendations on things to do in the area. Note: the road to the resort is rough and you may think you will never get there but it is worth it!

The place is gorgeous the owners are the nicest and most helpful layback people.
It was a 3 days/night in havean!
2 things though:
1. You’ll be better with a 4 wheel drive to get there and don’t turn right to the dump area.
2. No AC which can be a problem until you get used to it.
Overall highly recommended

Enjoyed our stay in a beautiful setting.

Steve and Mike did awesome job designing and buildilding this retreat in the jungle. Great attention to detail in all areas. The cabins are large and spaced enough to have privacy but close enough to socialize with others if you choose so. Steve and Mike were very accomodating, served great meals and poured great drinks :-)
Booked ATM tour with guide they suggested and couldn't be better.
If we find ourselves in Belize again, we will definitely stay again.

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The place is a gorgeous, peaceful oasis and great base to explore the area. I’m a vegetarian and was traveling solo; Steve and Mike went above and beyond to arrange tours for me and I came back each night to specially prepared vegetarian dinners. There was only one other guest, so meals were like a fun night out with friends — relaxed, great conversation, etc.
I’d return in a heartbeat and can’t recommend Gumbo Limbo highly enough. Thanks, Steve and Mike, for making my first Belize visit so memorable.
