Nice, no frills room. Only complaints are the overpowering smell of the air freshener, which is still stuck in my clothes, and the $100 fee tacked on to the Hotels.com price.

Cozy small hotel in a nice area

Excellent boutique hotel clise to restaurants...large rooms!!

Very noise in day and evening hours Daron street and city activities. Quiet after 12am

Great location in the heart of Georgetown. We had a balcony room overlooking the canal and it was nice, very clean, and comfortable. I would stay here again.
4.4
This is a self-checkin stay. You need a code to get into the front door and then your room. I arrived early and was able to store my luggage in a locker. Self-checkin did not work but I called the help number and everything was taken care of. Clean room, nice stay. Loves the location including easy access to a walking path and shopping. I would stay here again!

Clean and beautiful

Loved it , I’ve stayed there a half dozen times it’s cozy , convenient and clean ,

an old historic building with very thin walls without sound proofing or insulation. Room 4 is on the ground floor, next to sidewalk and the restaurant next door. It was quiet by 11:30 (on a Monday night). Expedia reservation was of no help trying to get access to the remote, virtual check in process because the front door requires a four-digit code (not set prior to my visit). The phone receptionist eventually provided it, but only on my second call.
PLUS: In the heart of Georgetown social scene

Great place

Fantastic room and convenient for walking to lots of shops and dining. However, there is a restaurant below rooms that has lots of people talking late into morning hours

Our only complaint was the noise level. Could quite a bit from the room above us and we could hear the front door slam every time someone came in or left into the early morning hours. It's an old building so it's nothing the proprietor did wrong. You can avoid the front door thing by not reserving lock 4 or lock 5.

Awesome adorable space

I saw an insect scurrying around as we were leaving. Not sure what it was

All good

Easy self checking. The property is clean and located in a nice area, close to restaurants and shops.

Great location in a quirky boutique historic building adjacent to the Georgetown canal. Small comfortable room is all you need to explore the heart of the historic commercial district. You will be amongst a lot of urban activity and sidewalk chatter but area is quiet overnight. Steps away from great food, shopping and sightseeing. Not for those who prefer generic chain hotels.

The Georgetown House was a wonderful place to stay right in the heart of Georgetown. The check in process was unlike anything else I had done before and it was a little unclear before getting to the property, but it was easy and self explanatory once I arrived. Having access to the shared kitchen was super helpful and much appreciated! I would definitely stay there again.

Great location! Easy access with all the basics. It feels like a tiny apartment so I feel like local.
4.4
Small, cute, historic property located so centrally that everything is right out your door. Easy check in outside the property. Great room at a great price. Not sure why you'd want to stay anywhere else, unless you just want to pay more?

Really great location and convenience for a visit in Georgetown. Watch your head if you’re tall, however: sloping ceilings, men, I bang my head on the ceiling repeatedly. But otherwise a great step.
4.4
Great location, convenient and v clean. Wish it had a gym or gym access nearby

Quaint stay in the heart of Georgetown's campus. Very convenient and affordable. Highly recommend!

all cool

Check-in is using a kiosk outside the door. It didn’t work. Tried several times and received ‘communication issue.’ I had to go back to my booking to find a phone number to call. Met several other guests that had the same issue. Knowing this was an issue, someone should have been onsite, reached out with further instructions or at least post a phone number at the kiosk. Very disappointing and just unacceptable.
4.4
Clean and nice cozy spot to stay. Room was very clean.
Parking is a bit of a nightmare but that’s all of DC really, no dedicated parking. Expect to hunt for meters and garages.
Walls are thin, you’ll hear your neighbors and they’ll hear you.
Aside from those cons, I didn’t mind it.
4.4
The kiosk gave us the wrong code and I called 5x before someone picked up and then verbally gave me the code. Checkin in the 21st century should not be this ridiculous

It was nice.

I was a little hesitant choosing this little gem based on some reviews about noise but now it will be my go to place to stay in Georgetown. Lock #6 was perfect, close to everything yet quiet and had all the travel essentials including two bottles of water. As an added bonus the price was less than anything else I could find in the area. I’ll definitely recommend The Georgetown House to friends and family.

Very nice

Gorgeous little hotel that overlooks the canal. Very romantic. It even has a little balcony you can sit on and have your morning coffee. Very clean and safe. Georgetown restaurants at the waterfront less than a block away. In the heart of Georgetown where you can shop if needed. Rooms are not gigantic but they are comfortable and modern. Bed and bedsheets are wonderful. Highly recommend.

Nice clean local

If you want to sleep, avoid room #4 ! You will be like in the street. There is a warning about the old house that is not soundproof. But the problem is not inside, but outside! The hotel has installed two armchairs and a table on the sidewalk just under your window. It’s great for people to sit and chat and call and eat pizzas. They are like inside your room. In fact, after midnight you can sleep if you are lucky, not before…!

We came in from out of town for a local wedding within walking distance. We booked a room that listed a queen size bed and canal view with porch seating area. We were given room "lock 7" once we booked. When we went to self check in we were unable to and had to call for support. The number listed on the check in machine was incorrect so I had to look up the correct number. We were then helped by someone who gave us our code to check in. However, we were given room "lock 3" which was a much different experience than the room we paid for. It was located in the basement with a small double bed and barely any room to move. The window facing the canal was too high to see out of and we had to keep it closed the entire stay because there was a bench right outside of it that passer goers were constantly sitting on. If the curtains were open they would have had a clear view of our bed. I called the staff back to see why we were not in room 7 and were told that it was "out of commission" and she began checking us out of our room without even asking if that is what we wanted. I had to stop her from checking us out and told her that the room would be fine... Mostly because we had nowhere else to go. After getting to our wedding we began talking with another couple to realize that they were in "Lock 7" and had the EXACT same experience as us. They showed us their room which was much larger, nicer, and had a better view. I'm disappointed we didn't get the room we paid for.

The Georgetown House was perfect for our stay after riding on the C&O Canal bike trail. Would absolutely recommend!

I would stay here again! I read reviews about it being loud, but I didn’t hear anything during my whole stay. I had a room on the end (#7), so that might have contributed to the quiet. Felt safe too as a solo traveler!
4.4
The location of the hotel is fantastic, very close to everything (the coffee shops, restaurants and shopping). The room was clean and we are right next to the canal. However, the walls are very thin and during our stay the room next door was playing loud music until close to 4am. We called for a noise complaint but they couldn’t really do much bc no one is on site. The kiosk for self check in didn’t even work.
4.4
Nice, clean, great location. Small but for a quick visit it’s ideal with parking garage across the street. Can’t beat the price for the location.
4.4
Great place to be right in the middle of Georgetown for an OK price. Easy to come and go. Would have liked some water in the canal but guessing the hotel can't change that!
