The grand isn't so grand any more
From the outside it looked wonderful. Reception I could not fault untill I got to the room
The room was terrible. Like a crack heads den . we had booked the cheapest room with no windows due to the storm . But we were advised we have a free upgrade. And it's something I wish we had not taken Old broken furniture a toilet held to the wall via unfinished 2x2 kicked in doors that did not need a key to open the wiind would pop it open or a slight push would do that and a window we couldn't close with curtains held together with bailing twine and added blood and poop stains . And the upgraded view I here you ask . Of a flat roof filled with litter and debris . In comparison are friends got a sea view with a whirl pool bath nicely decorated and with it came with dressing gowns and slipper etc while we got the crack den and instead of the dressing gown and slippers a oil filled radiator which kept us warm while we kept getting up to push the main door closed at various points of the night

Summer holiday
Staff are excellent, always helpful and polite. Stayed in this hotel loads and never had any complaints. Breakfast is average but lots on offer... always had a good room, clean..tidy..and beds comfortable.
One morning we came down for breakfast at 9.15...I thought it finished at 10..but it ended at 9.30 so I still wasent late but a member of staff male with glasses on was extremely rude and abrupt, and said "your cutting it a bit close" and that they cleared all food away bang on 9.30 so we best hurry up!!...not the attitude I'd expect from a member of staff..we had plenty of time to get our breakfast and left at 9.40...so didn't think there was any reason for being so rude.. Also on a 5 day stay nobody came and emptied our bins, or refreshed our tea tray and was told at reception to put our rubbish outside our door and any used towels and they would be taken away and if we needed tea, coffee, milk ect we had to go to reception to ask for more?. I can honestly say I've never experienced this before. I had previously been on a 2 week holiday in Devon in a large hotel and my room was cleaned and bins emptied every day. But I completely understand they obviously try to keep costs down..and the hotel was full with over a thousand rooms. But overall we love this hotel..its very grand and beautiful, the evening entertainment is wonderful if you have children. It's very reasonably priced..its very welcoming..and we look forward to many more visits..so appart from a few small things I high rate this beautiful hotel... and thank you to the wonderful reception staff who work so hard and have always been lovely to myself and my daughter.

It was enjoyable short break and I would book the same hotel again.
I liked the Victorian character and the heritage. The location of the hotel was very central and close to all attractions.
The windows were dirty and difficult to open. I understand that those were old with the hotel being a listed building and hard to maintain the cleanliness. Also when we took a walk around the property, we spotted a tent set up just below a terrace. The paths were not very clean and there was a dead bird on one of those.

Overpriced, avoid at all costs
Dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Desperately in need of updating nd modernising. Bathroom floor was so dirty and stained we couldn't even use the room. No towels in room on arrival. Breakfast was disgusting.

Dreadful
The room was like a shoe box! It was not clean at all hair in the bath and stains all over the walls and carpet the tv didn’t work and when we asked the staff at the front desc to take a look he was rude and said they don’t have time to deal with that! this was one of the most disgusting places Iv ever stayed and will definitely not be returning or recommending this place to anyone don’t waste your money
