From the outside it looked wonderful. Reception I could not fault untill I got to the room
The room was terrible. Like a crack heads den . we had booked the cheapest room with no windows due to the storm . But we were advised we have a free upgrade. And it's something I wish we had not taken Old broken furniture a toilet held to the wall via unfinished 2x2 kicked in doors that did not need a key to open the wiind would pop it open or a slight push would do that and a window we couldn't close with curtains held together with bailing twine and added blood and poop stains . And the upgraded view I here you ask . Of a flat roof filled with litter and debris . In comparison are friends got a sea view with a whirl pool bath nicely decorated and with it came with dressing gowns and slipper etc while we got the crack den and instead of the dressing gown and slippers a oil filled radiator which kept us warm while we kept getting up to push the main door closed at various points of the night

Staff are excellent, always helpful and polite. Stayed in this hotel loads and never had any complaints. Breakfast is average but lots on offer... always had a good room, clean..tidy..and beds comfortable.
One morning we came down for breakfast at 9.15...I thought it finished at 10..but it ended at 9.30 so I still wasent late but a member of staff male with glasses on was extremely rude and abrupt, and said "your cutting it a bit close" and that they cleared all food away bang on 9.30 so we best hurry up!!...not the attitude I'd expect from a member of staff..we had plenty of time to get our breakfast and left at 9.40...so didn't think there was any reason for being so rude..
Also on a 5 day stay nobody came and emptied our bins, or refreshed our tea tray and was told at reception to put our rubbish outside our door and any used towels and they would be taken away and if we needed tea, coffee, milk ect we had to go to reception to ask for more?. I can honestly say I've never experienced this before. I had previously been on a 2 week holiday in Devon in a large hotel and my room was cleaned and bins emptied every day. But I completely understand they obviously try to keep costs down..and the hotel was full with over a thousand rooms. But overall we love this hotel..its very grand and beautiful, the evening entertainment is wonderful if you have children. It's very reasonably priced..its very welcoming..and we look forward to many more visits..so appart from a few small things I high rate this beautiful hotel... and thank you to the wonderful reception staff who work so hard and have always been lovely to myself and my daughter.

Very welcoming staff entertainment was good
So of the hotel need maintenance in areas. When busy on bars need more staff . Hotel rooms could do with a bit of maintenance some of the doors needed sprucing up.

I liked the Victorian character and the heritage. The location of the hotel was very central and close to all attractions.
The windows were dirty and difficult to open. I understand that those were old with the hotel being a listed building and hard to maintain the cleanliness. Also when we took a walk around the property, we spotted a tent set up just below a terrace. The paths were not very clean and there was a dead bird on one of those.

Dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Desperately in need of updating nd modernising. Bathroom floor was so dirty and stained we couldn't even use the room. No towels in room on arrival. Breakfast was disgusting.

we did not enjoy our stay will not recommend it
make it at least a 4 star rating

The room was like a shoe box! It was not clean at all hair in the bath and stains all over the walls and carpet the tv didn’t work and when we asked the staff at the front desc to take a look he was rude and said they don’t have time to deal with that! this was one of the most disgusting places Iv ever stayed and will definitely not be returning or recommending this place to anyone don’t waste your money

The towels and bedding were all clean , big room .
No WiFi, had to use data all the time, bar staff were awful as the woman behind the bar treated my husband badly, lots of flies , one was in are room and we couldn't get it out,

Breakfast was ok
check in time was ridiculous, tv didn't work, took 3 attempts to be admitted to the dining room for breakfast,

The view
The bed was like sleeping on wooden crates so uncomfortable 😫. The room and bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly in about 7 years. The window in the room was broken. No hot water for two nights, which we needed for our 5 year old. Also my 5 year old had to walk 5 flights of stairs because he doesn't like lifts !

The location.
Everything else.
We came for a gig. The staff treated us poorly. The rooms smelt of cat pee and very basic. The poor check in times that lead to delays. The bed was hard and awful. Not really like the photos. Window opened fully on the 5th floor. Surely that's against some sort of safety violation. The door looked like it had been kicked in bit repaired poorly. 100 a night isn't that cheap. Did expect much better. Maybe it was just our room.

No internet and bathroom not clean.

Breakfast was ok. Location was great.
Room wasn’t cleaned to standard. There was only one plug working. Lack of staff. Windows need cleaning. Some of the guests were loud and didn’t consider other quests.

The view and the food and the overall nostalgic feel to the place.
It needs some TLC it's a shame to see such an amazing structure in a bit ruins state.

Hotel great breakfast great could not fault
Was given a downgraded room n arrival Evening meals were disgusting entertainment was supposed to be a cabaret 365 days a year only two days a week but repeated over four nights. Only 35 minutes of cabaret ent per night which is what we went for very disappointing people coming into our room twice while we were there. Do not book this hotel it is a disgrace such a shame!

Location is fantastic. The hotel facilities are as the title suggests Grand.
Room was dated and very hot with no way to cool it down. As Seagulls nest in every possible crevice and ledge it is very noisy.

Location.
Premises are tired and appear down market.

The location was just right situated where you could get to anywhere
Communication with extras like breakfast .
2.5
Beautiful historic building, great reception area, that is all.
The door frame was shattered in numerous places, the lock on the door was held on very loosely making me question my safety. The room was so bland with no full length mirror which easily could have been accommodated. The bathroom was of a questionable cleanliness with no space to sit toiletries. The flush was faulty and the toilet water stank out the bathroom during the night. Shower was absolutely tiny even for an average sized person. The windows were knackered and filthy. The view had no potential to begin with but there were some real random things spotted on the roof which our room looked upon. Overall, not great, I get the “passable” rating now.

Good location good facilities cheap price
No shower gel, skirting birds dirty, curtains stapled to the window, one bedside table missing as it was too big was place next to tv which didn’t make sense! Although still good value for money!

Breakfast was very good, I even thanked the chef for making it. The location was very good as well, we used the bus service to get around from Bridlington to Whitby and in between the fare was £2 per ride.
Nothing, you can't take away the hills, you have to be able to cope with big ones.

Location was the best
No where to park close so took all luggage to hotel and they had no where to store the luggage so we had to pay for early check in! However I heard the person across from me being offered there room check in an hour early at no cost! We were not even offered that!
Had no tea coffee sugar etc in the room to make a drink but had a kettle therefore could not understand why there was nothing to make a drink with not even a cup!
Breakfast was over cooked and cold
Entertainment on the night did not start until 9.45pm and I witnessed a lot of things happening and no security.
It was a very disappointing stay for us :(

Clean, spacious room, excellent water pressure in the shower (very impressed with this), very basic but good facilities
Pillows were very thin and the bed was lumpy however, you get what you pay for it’s cheap and good for one night

The rooms were not bad , no main lighting , but did have over bed lamps and a lamp on the side draws. A few sets of draws and a wardrobe for space.
Also a mini fridge, hair dryer , iron , ironing board , TV, kettle / cups and sachets off tea, coffee and sugar. There was also a fan stored in the wardrobe if needed.
There was two toilet rolls provided, along with small soaps and sanitary bags. Towels also provided.
Things that let it down were :-
* The food was very basic . Cereals were not brand make and tasted awful. My son complained the hash browns and bacon were too greasy to eat. The coffee was awful and no sign of any fresh fruit. There were no trays to help carry things , which was quiet annoying having to walk back and forth to get different parts of your meal.
The windows in the entire hotel were filthy and seagulls were nesting in nearly every window ledge and the noise was awful.
After running a bath , it was luke warm. Only to then realise you needed to press and button on the tap to make it hotter.
Not many plug sockets for multiple use.
The beds weren't very comfortable.

We loved the building but the rooms are terrible food terrible what a shame
We did not like the room dirty and broken chair needs refinishement .evening meal terrible left under heat light and terrible

Noisy I stayed on the first floor there was people shouting and messing around from about midnight till about 3 in the morning so I did not get much sleep. Surely there should be security on and people should be told to quieten down not fair on every one else trying to sleep
