The location is excellent, walking distance from the old town and train station. The property was clean and spacious for four people. The kitchen is quite extensive, and the appliances are nice, and we can all hang together in there
No AC, but to be fair, I went to Edinburgh when there was a heatwave, and most other buildings don't have AC either. and Scotland is usually cold too. So in normal circumstances, it wouldn't be a problem

The location of the apartment is excellent. All the facilities you could need are included. Lovely clean bedding. The apartment is very spacious. Great en-suite in the master bedroom.
Two of the three sofas in the living room were very uncomfortable. The lock on the front door of the apartment was very tricky to open.

The keys are stored in an unmarked lock box three streets away. This information is hidden in messages from the host Altido but not from Booking.Com
This is a classic case of read the reviews properly prior to booking. Not sure how it consistently scores 7.0 and 8.0 when you look at the details. We booked this apartment based on location and luxury rating. It should be a 3 star maximum but disappointingly dirty definitely not luxury. Good point- The location is brilliant and really central and near the Christmas Market which is why we came. Bad points - The key safe is no where near the property and the information is hidden in a message from Booking.com so not easy to find. The instructions from the owner are wrong and tell you the wrong box number and to see the numbers you have to virtually lie down in a dirty doorway. When you finally get in to the apartment its up 48 very steep stairs to what would be on the 2nd or 3rd floor. The living area of the flat has views out onto George Street and as I write this a car alarm has been going off for 90 mins. Single glazed sash windows let in the road noise and cold. The rear of the property looks out over the restaurant roof and the air extract units run from 0630am until 11.00pm and are loud, it's like constant white noise. On arrival it was cold and we worked out quickly that the boiler had been tripped out. No heating or hot water and the managing agent "Altido" couldn't do anything to fix it, they had no out of hours support and it took them until Sunday to be able to get someone to visit and they still didnt fix it? They finally sent me the wrong reset instructions (maybe correct for a different boiler). I'm quite hands on and worked out it needed to be re-pressurised. Hurrah hot water !! However, it keeps tripping out so needs fixing urgently. If you read previous reviews you will see the shower and shower heads were dirty, they were covered in scale and mould. See my photo. I went to the local shop bought some bleach and cleaned them before we could use them. The actual showers we also covered in mould which wipes off if you try.

The flat was very lovely, exactly as pictured and the location was fantastic most of the attractions, shops and restaurants just walking distance away. And I loved the extensive contents on the television.
The stairs!! Was expecting being flat 1 that it would be on the ground level, was suprised that I had to climb up 35 flights of stairs. Logging my luggage up those stairs and down again when checking did not make me a happy camper

Location. Apartment overall is nice, but they should get 2 new normal size beds, (these were falling apart) new mattresses, 2 normal sofa’s, there is only 1 which seats 2 person, and some kids sofa’s (also almost broken), buy new lamps, not taped together, which is also very dangerous.
It was rundown. Bed was falling apart, we first had to repair it ourselves. lots of things were broken. If you like the carnival you are good, almost every light was coloured. If it was working anyway. We first had to empty a cabinet to find the switch board, and even after switching everything on, lots of lamps were not working. Keep the windows of the bedrooms closed, the ventilation of the restaurant below is under the windows ….. And kitchen not very clean

The stay was very poor with all the issues at the property
Obviously no one has checked the property (as confirmed when I spoke to the reservations team)
I have recently stayed at 79 George Street Edinburgh 12-15 August ( but actually left on 14th -one day early because the property was well below what I would describe as 'Luxury' .
From the outset of arriving the property was full of problems.
The checking in was very poor with the fact that the key box was 'hidden' 6/7 minutes walk away from the property. When I found the key box there were five boxes located six inches from the floor (so I had to lay down to get to them ( but it was not clear which box to use. The info about the box was hidden in one of 3/4 emails you kept sending to try and sell me additional services )
The first issue was there were 45 stairs to get to the property.(with no lift). I counted them ...there were 45! This was not mentioned anywhere in the description of the property on Booking.com. I had emailed you to ask about stairs as my wife has problems with her mobility .....your reply was 'there are a few stairs to the property'!!
The wi-fi code did not work on arrival and you sent us two more codes plus getting us to try the router code. All in all we were without wi-fi for 24 hours until you sent the password that did work.
There then a series of poor state of repair across the property
The kickboard in the kitchen was falling off
There are no blinds or curtains in the lounge on two out of three large windows (on to a brightly lit George Street)
The fridge door did not close properly unless pushed hard
The left side lamp in the main bedroom was taped up at the switch (hence dangerous)
Both basins in each bathroom did not have any plugs . In one there was a kitchen draining plug but this did not hold the water ....so both basins could not be used.
One basin was blocked .....I contacted you on the Friday morning. You had said a maintenance person would call to repair this. When we left on Saturday it remained blocked.
The toilet roll holder in bathroom one was falling off

Location very good
No hot water. Had to phone a nameless telephone number to have it switched on. Had to go out to dinner the first evening without having a shower - not nice after travelling. Hot water had been switched on when I got back from dinner. Wash hand basin in en-suite bathroom was blocked and used water did not run away properly. When unblocked there was no plug. The staircase from the street to the first floor flat ( actually at the second floor level) was VERY steep and not easy to access with suitcase or for an elderly person.

The location of the property was amazing
Unfortunately the tv didnt work properly, the issue was with the wifi. The boiler needed resetting every 30mins. Could possibly be more comfortable with a couple more chairs in the lounge, rather than the very uncomfortable mini sofas.
