Very pleasant staff, good parking and instructions as to how to get to parking excellent
Just about everything else , it's quite dated now ,woken at 4am with noise of toilets flushing etc. People walking around bath filling etc. Breakfast table was so sticky I couldn't move my cup and saucer and it was ruinously expensive at £16.95 .

I asked to move rooms from a ground floor to a higher room and Conner on the front desk was amazing he was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble
I wish I had more time to try out the spa but it was only a short trip.

Lovely hotel, staff were very professional, room was very spacious and comfortable, great location for going in to the town
Bed cover did have a paint stain on it and the pillars in the room could do with a good dusting

Location
No fan was really hot

Central location is fabtastic
Would not rate it 4 stars. Bedroom very tired looking. Stains on the wall. Bedside light not working. Hard to get cold water to run - always seemed luke warm. Broken tiles in the shower. Staff were nice but not particularly helpful
3.8
Central location with car park.
Staff very helpful & friendly.
Large room & bathroom.
Front facade shows there was once opulence
Room looked tired, requires a revamp.
Bathroom very large but again fittings well used and worn - could do with total revamp
Pillows were hard
3.8
Excellent location for shopping and sightseeing in the city centre.
The rooms were tired and in need of a refurb and a deep clean.
3.8
Good location. Friendly staff, clean.
Nothing to dislike. Could to with a bit of paint and tidy up here and there, but this is minor.
3.8
Great location.
Very tired, room was abit grubby with carpet stains and dirty marks on the walls.
3.8
Location and foyer, the spa was fantastic.
Had to move rooms, due to an issue with the TV. ‘Upgraded’ and had the noisiest, worst night ever in a hotel. The windows rattled, the wind whistled and the external noise ensured we were woken up intermittently from 3 am onwards. Decor is incredibly tired, fixtures and fittings in need of replacing, generally poor.

Beautiful old building ideally situated in the centre of the city. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble.
The accommodation is very comfortable but could do with a bit of redecoration.

good sized room Breakfast excellent
1 more chair in the bedroom

The staff were all friendly and helpful, and went out of their way for us. It’s a beautiful building. It’s a bit worn in places - which adds character, in my view. I liked the fact it didn’t look ‘corporate’… Our room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was good too.
Some of the decor in communal areas was not to my taste, but that’s just me. There was obviously street noise - as we had a street-side room, but generally just people enjoying themselves while walking home, and not the hotel’s responsibility.

The reception staff Yara was super helpful on the phone before booking. Unfortunately she was not there on arrival ask we were left with useless staff and a poor experience.
The Suite itself was good
Parking - we paid but had no spot
Getting from the car park to the reception was not signposted carrying heavy luggage
No room service of food available
Reception staff on arrival were useless

Although we live in Wymondham we were attending our daughter’s 50th birthday party and wanted to stay in Norwich.
We were very disappointed that you are not serving evening meals because we had heard how good they are.

The location was really good.
When we turned up, we were told that there was a 1920's Jazz function on in the outside courtyard. We had to keep the windows open because there wasn't any air con and the temperature was nearly 30c. Our windows overlooked the courtyard.
The toilet still had excrement around the rim and we did mention this to the staff but they seemed to be unsure of what to do apart from apologise.
It's really disappointing as St Giles used to be the best hotel in the city.
3.8
very central & the staff were all really lovely
it was a bit tired looking
3.8
Everything was to a good standard nothing I could complain about.
3.8
On-site parking, spacious room, good cooked breakfast. Good friendly staff.
Despite being a warm day in June two radiators could not be completely turned off.
Lime trees in the car park dripped their sticky sap onto the car.
3.8
Location was spot on. Really nice looking building. Terrace outside was nice however too cold to sit out unfortunately. Rooms a good size and large bathroom with bath and separate wet room.
Not value for money in my opinion. I've stayed in much better for cheaper. High price, plus parking cost and no breakfast included. Room a little in need of TLC. Curtain rail missing an end. Curtain actually didn't quite fit and the blinds were dusty. Sink was blocked a pet hate of mine. Reception staff seemed to not answer the phone when we called prior to our arrival. Car park was somewhat difficult to find. Late night porter wasn't able to pour a beer. We had to do our own and he couldn't take cash either only card.

Location ideal for exploring the city (although there are many hotels to choose from, so I'd recommend to go with another!) Breakfast was beautiful (although arrived over 1 hour late with very defensive and argumentative staff) Reception area lovely with lots of charm
A real shame as there is lots of potential to this hotel, and we expected it to be good from the price / 4-star rating / beautiful photos online. But unfortunately lots of problems. Lots of little niggles that unfortunately add up - decor in rooms needs attention i.e. cracked and black mouldy bathroom tiles, wooden broken slated blinds that don't shut out the light etc. Customer care is also very much lacking quality and is inconsistent. We came back 'out of hours' and there was no one to let us in for nearly half an hour, which was stressful as we had to stand in the street in the middle of the night, unable to get in, not knowing what to do. We were just discussing options, preparing to sit on the hotel steps for the rest of the night, when someone finally let us in. We managed four hours sleep before the early morning noise and voices from the room above kept us awake - the walls in the old rooms are paper thin. Breakfast was over an hour late, even though people who came in before us got served first, to the point that we missed our checkout time. Petty and unprofessional arguing from the manager impacted our plans for the rest of the day and we were made to feel very terrible when we dared to complain. All in all very stressful stay in what should have been a lovely weekend in Norwich. We are sad to say that we won't be returning.

location was very good
furnishings were very tired need TLC

Excellent location. Good mattress . Good size room.
Too hot in the room. We turned radiators off & opened the window but this was onto the road with pedestrians walking by, so we were not comfortable with leaving it open.. Curtains in bedroom were hung incorrectly and did not shut. There are blinds behind but it looks untidy.
Bathroom was not clean. The toilet was disgusting ( i have photos) . Shower head would not stay up. The shower cubicle and some tiles had moldy discoloured grout. Sink did not empty properly (blocked pipes? ). Buy some bleach & limescale remover..thats all it takes! I have 4 toilets at home and none as horrible as this.😪
No mirror with good lighting to style hair or makeup. Everything was dimly lit even though there was a bathroom & full mirror. A dressing table with mirror /light/chair would be best.
Breakfast was Ok. But long waits for forgotten items, such as milk for drinks and cutlery.
Reception staff were very polite but didnt have a clue where rooms are and we were sent to 4th floor for room 18 which is on ground floor. Might sound trivial but if youre carrying heavy bags and have a bad back..its not good.
I left my phone charger plugged in by the bed in room 18. Rang up a few hours after we left and took 3 days to get a response that it was not there. 6 phone calls later.... it was definitely there and would have been easy to pop back to collect it. I guess it was my fault for leaving it, but i was pretty annoyed it went missing. A £37 unit, but could have easily been something more valuable like a piece of jewellery or mobile phone. Whoever cleaned the room would have found it and it shoud have been kept safe. Also very frustrating that over 3 days noone responded.
Overall, we had a good night sleep, bed was good but probably wont be back. There are much better, cleaner hotels nearby for a similar price.
3.8
great location, very friendly staff, not bad priced for the location, had everything that i needed, large bathroom and delicious breakfast
car park was a pain to find, little bit shabby around the edges, could do with a decent renovation.
3.8
Reception staff were friendly / Cooked breakfast was good, but fruit & bread left out on the table was dry.
Advertised as a "Hotel Restaurant and Spa"
Totally misleading - No service at lunch or evening menu as the restaurant was closed.
This should be have been a basic standard? After being forced to find a restaurant outside of the hotel we decided to come back for an evening drink to find the bar unattended. If it wasn't for the kind man on reception to go behind the bar it would have been another facility not being met, even though it was advertised.
Spa - only consisted of treatment rooms - Really confused as the word "Spa" is an acronym of the Latin "Salus per Aquam" which means health from water. No swimming pool / Hydro therapy in any form not even a hot tub / steam room.
Room looked very tired in decoration, carpet in Room 22 was filthy. Although the bathroom looked amazing the bath it had dark water stains and old cracked tiles by the toilet.
Stairwells were covered in thick dust, someone had wrote "dirty" in the dust which was not cleaned over the duration of our stay.
Certainly not my expectations of a 4 star hotel.

it’s a beautiful place and we come every year, it’s a fabulous location and a lovely building.
after coming every year we were very disappointed, I’m presuming it has been taken over as all the fabulous staff had gone and the atmosphere was like a youth club, we always enjoyed sitting in the bar with the lovely jazz/acoustic music on and lovely polite staff who made you feel special. all this has gone, the bar was a mess, we were served by a scruffy girl who had no idea what glass to put wine in, drum and base music blasting out. the fridge door was broken so she swore and kicked it! we went to drop our bags in the car before breakfast so we could leave straight away, we pushed the buzzer to get back in the building and after 20min nobody answered so we had to walk round the front, there the equally scruffy reception lady was gossiping with the bar lady, then we had to pay £10 to park, we have always parked free here previously, the room was very basic and tatty. breakfast was served but a homeless looking boy who had no idea, food was nice but a little cold, certainly won’t be doing our yearly visit anymore.

location
the rooms were very tired, in need of decoration and maintenance. painting works in the hallway outside our door had been left with scrapings of dried paint and old wallpaper all over the floor where the builders had left it. no hooks in the bathroom for towels or clothes: rough bath robes with no belts, bedroom carpet was stained and grubby. very shabby for the money they charged us. absolutely disgraceful; will never stay there again.
3.8
everything, was really cool
The shower head was very loose
3.8
Lovely comfortable bed, great night sleep and couldn’t hear any road noise which was great!
Would have liked a bath (especially given the size of the bathroom). Bathroom floor could have done with an extra sweep/wash
3.8
location
noise from out side all night,no curtains only old broken blinds,no mini bar and bath robes as stated, secondary double glazing removed from window, television not working properly, restaurant not available for guests only for booked functions
