About this apartment rental
"Old Hawaii" Great Location in Waikiki (H7) Feel the Old Hawaii theme vacation rental room! Our renovator has just changed the room into the classic Hawaiian room.
You may enjoy the vacation, but at the same time, enjoy staying inside the room!
It doesn't take long to notice how the tropical design compliments the view to create an all around unique Hawaiian condo!!
While there is no kitchen space in the unit, there are tons of restaurants, bars and cafes in walking distance to the Hawaiian monarch building. Additionally, there are plenty of amenities fit for after beach snacks, and early morning Kona brew, such as a coffee maker, toaster, microwave and fridge! And after a full day of playing in the waves and exploring Waikiki's urban grid, you can melt into the comfort of one of the two queen beds in this Waikiki condo.
The Hawaiian Monarch is located on the far western end of Waikiki, with a great variety of places nearly at its doorsteps. Just a few steps away from the building is the Waikiki harbor and Hilton Hawaiian Village, the Ala Wai Canal, and Hawaii Convention Center. As well as an ever-evolving scene of cafes, happy hours, international cuisine, and late-night bars to relax at with an exotic island refreshment.
The condo has the pool, mini shop, laundry, and popular cafe. You will enjoy the pancake there while you stay.
There is truly no end to the stores to wander through, unique dining options, and entertainment such as Hula lessons or cultural shows closeby. But, if you prefer to explore more of Waikiki, Ala Moana, or even the greater Oahu area, there are several transportation options. There are several bus stops near the Hawaiian Monarch, which can take you to new surfing, snorkeling, shopping or sightseeing locations.
There is also a Biki rental bike stand nearby, which can be used to explore Waikiki.
You will definitely enjoy all of the perks of the Hawaiian Monarch building, at an affordable price compared to similar hotels in central Waikiki.

Great location, clean room, helpful staff. Convenient for walking to beach, shops, and food. Overall, highly recommend this property!

This hotel is located in a fantastic area, you can get just about anywhere on foot. It was just me staying which storage wise, was just right even if they offered an extra bed… and you can creative about storage here.
Window AC was loud and weirdly the small gap between the windows sometimes brought in a nice breeze. It’s bummer you can’t open windows for fresh air.
And also so many conveniences available on site: rent a car, coffee shop, mini mart, and a bar/restaurant.

Nice simple room. Beautiful view of the Ala Wai Canal & Diamond Head in the distance. Loved the convenience of being able to walk around Waikiki & to the beach.

Simple place to stay in Wakiki. Walking distance to beaches and good food.
Parking sucks, $40 a night, which is crazy, but theres really no other options.
Theres no kitchenette, just a microwave and a toaster. Didnt really matter becuase we ate out most of the time.
Overall, its just a vaction crash pad and thats all we needed.

Location is excellent so convenient to be right in the begining of Waikiki! Sunrise was amazing from our room window. Traveled with my daughter for the weekend and it was so close to Ala Moana and lots of places to eat. Super cute lot with food trucks right accross the street and an ABC store right next. It is an older property and the room itself could use some upgrades. It was clean but could have used a new shower curtian liner and some fine detail cleaning. Not all items listed and shown online were available in the room. Room is very small not a lot of space for luggage. Worked out perfect for our stay though. No street parking but parking is available for $45 per day ($40 if prepaid for multiple days)

The unit was clean, located well, easy to check in and out and was very nice. The property management was very responsive when the microwave didn’t work. We had a new one the next day. The only suggestions would be: 1) more shelves on the walls to put clothes from the suitcase. Very tight to move with two suitcases. 2) New mattress for the bed by the windows. It is very old and worn out and when you sit or lie on it, you touch the boards below and it’s not comfortable. Otherwise the accommodations were great! Totally recommend this location and unit for a nice place to stay. Loved the access to the pool and barbecues! Not sue if I received my damage deposit back yet but am hoping that will be coming soon. We left the place spotless.

Decent, no frills place to stay that is very close to the beach. No problems with any part of our stay. Would stay again for the fair pricing.

Old, tacky, randown, ghetto place. Matresses are cheap quality and pillows are flat as pancakes, the drapes are being held by thoughts and prayers, the once white microwave is all kinds of yellow shades from how old it is, and the hand drawing "hi"happy face on the wall above the toilet is creepy. Did not stay a single night of the 4 I had paid for, there was a dead roach legs up right outside, not the small kind, those big ones, and all I could think was there's bed bugs here, now, Idk if there were any, but I wasn't gonna stay and find out. I said hell no and booked my stay at Hyatt, there was just no way my kids and ai were gonna stay there. The pics on the ad are black and white for a reason and they really did their best at those, fooled me into booking it. The building itself and the parking employees, one word, ghetto. Would not recommend.

The room was clean. The check in instructions were easy to follow. We had no issues. The building is older but seemed well maintained. Staff were all friendly, there is also a hotel component to the building. Ocean was a bit of a walk but not too bad. Everything was close by, either walking or bus distance. Would definitely stay again.

I really enjoyed my stay here. For the price, it was perfect.
I read the reviews, which were correct with not having a dresser to store clothing in. Since it was only me, I used the other bed to lay out my belongings. There is also a small corner clothing hanger piece so you can hang some of your things.
I liked the location and room. It had so much light! Looking out the window to my left wete the mountians and to the right was the ocean. Perfect for me!
The bed is still and could use a little more padding, but it wasnt horrible.

We used it as a family (2 adults and 1 child)I didn't think it was recommended for families with children. The smell and sound of the air conditioner bothered me, and the beds were too hard for me to sleep well. The towels also smelled half dried. The water in the shower was not that good.I thought there was a kitchen in the room, but there was not. (You can cook in the pool area). Also, my child was bitten by a bug while sleeping. It is also difficult with children to walk 15 minutes to the center of Waikiki and the beach.Security was also a concern as there was a wanted post on the elevator. (The fact that the key box was empty when we visited was also a concern).I think it might be good for those who can sleep well enough, but I honestly would not recommend it for families.

Located on the 13th floor of an old hotel. Some rooms are privately owned and This room is exactly as pictured. The closer bed is about one foot from the bathroom door. There is no place for luggage. A large lamp takes up the whole bedside table. Mattresses need to be replaced. The bed sits on a platform and we bruised our legs repeatedly on the corners. The room was impeccably clean Check-in and out were easy. Convenience store, two cafes, a bakery/coffee shop located on the lobby level, and a seven-Eleven and Laundromat next door.

This is an old hotel. It is run down but clean and maintained. The room is small. There are two queen sized beds that need new mattresses. There is no room for luggage. We slept one to a bed with suitcases on our beds. It's ok if you only need a place to shower, change and sleep.
1.0
The room was dirty, very different from the pictures in the web, the curtain in the bath had mold and the tub was dirty, the toilet seat was broken. The elevators didn’t work one day.
Great location.
I won’t recommend it at all.
5.0
Space was clean, tile floors were nice and made it feel cleaner. This is the best bang for your Buck and the location is close to everything you could want.
4.0
This was a great little place to stay. Beautiful view of the canal and a bit of Waikiki from the massive window. Easily walkable to anywhere you want to go, so don't rent a car. It costs $40/night to park a car there, so just walk or rent a car each day you need one.
The elevators were terrible. There were three elevators that could go up, but there was usually only one working at a time due to maintenance or due to the "upgrades" they were doing. We waited over 15 minutes one morning to get downstairs and we were running to our tour bus because of it.
The WiFi decided to stop working for 24h which was also a problem because I didn't have a phone, so we needed to go down to the hotel lobby to use the public wifi there. But don't expect the hotel staff to help you - there is a clear difference between the hotel guests and the VRBO guests; when we booked, I didn't even know it was a hotel. Which means there's a pool there that the hotel guests can use, but not the VRBO guests (which is fine as we weren't expecting one). As for the wifi, I tried unplugging it to get it going, and eventually had to reset the modem completely to get internet. We left before it was on, and when we came back to the room, a lady was looking for the room at the same time to go fix it. I think she was planning on just entering the room without our knowledge to fix it (!) but luckily we showed up at the exact time she did.
You can use the gym for $5 for your entire stay, and it's totally worth it as they have a water dispenser there for you to fill up your bottles.
The window in the room opens completely, which is scary as you are so high up and it can easily be very dangerous. If you have children - either don't go here or never open the window more than a few inches.
Would I stay again? Yeah, I would. I would just give myself extra time because of the elevators and would have a backup plan for WiFi in case it went out.

Would book again.

Basic room, overall fine for a vacation where you spend very little time in the room. The property and pool was nice but the elevators are a disaster. It sometimes take you 10 minutes to go one way. The room was everything as advertised but the towels smelled like mildew.

Perfect home base for our short weekend
The location was great for everything we needed to do. It truly was a short walk to the beach, shops, and food. We arranged for parking in the building by talking to the attendant on duty and were always able to find a spot. We appreciated and followed the "no shoes" rule in the unit. The slippers provided were a really nice touch!

Room not as pictured in listing.
Moderately priced only there to sleep.

overall good wxperience
there was a rly nice view and the overall stay was comfortable. my only complaints were the fridge was broke and leaked everywhere and the bathroom was a little grimy. other than those two things i really enjoyed my stay.

Good for the prices
Close walk to a lot. Could be even better with some small touches(replace the tub and redo the caulk). But for the price, it’s pretty good!

Great Location
For the price, this is the place to stay with kids who are more intent on visiting the mall than the beach. The room is small and there is no closet or luggage stand, so be prepared to sleep with your luggage like I did while my kid got the one coat rack to hang clothes there being no closet. And the view is spectacular. I photographed every sunrise, though the exterior of the window was so dirty I had to zoom out in order to avoid the grime. Have lots of patience or think about using the stairs to get to the laundry or pool. Of the three elevators, one never seemed to be in service and the other two were in constant use so it took quite a while for one to arrive, and then it could be full already. This is a budget accommodation calling itself "Old Hawaii" because it has a plastic pineapple taking up very limited surface space. But you'll be out of the room most hours of the day, so book it and enjoy the view and the convenient location.

The only thing I liked from this property was its location. The unit itself is old, too small for three people and needs maintenance, especially the washroom...I honestly wouldn't stay again at this place.

Hawai for the first time
We had a great time in honolulu
The apartments has a great location, next to a seven 11- great bakery and coffee in the building.
The mall is short walk away. Great restaurants, and bar.

Amazing stay!
The view was amazing, watching the sunrise/sunset changing the color of the sky was well worth the value that you are paying for the room.
We enjoyed all the restaurants and cafes that were within the vicinity of the place.
Cleanliness of the property wasn't the best, but it is what you expected for the value you are paying for the hotel. The elevator takes a while during the day. Parking is within the hotel lobby and you're able to pay for multiple nights which was convenient, though expensive.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here!

The property was clean as advertised. View was great. Beds were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the stay. Thanks! The biggest challenge was parking. Cost was$35.00 per night not $25.00. And some nights there were no spaces and we had to find parking in strange locations in parking deck... Secondly, the checkin was confusing. The email showed the code for the lockbox as 063* but it was 063. Perhaps the code for the lockbox could be in bold characters in the email to avoid confusion. We did get in after about 15 min of trying.
